It’s giving high school talent show

not bad, reminded me of the pixies just not quite as good

not a fan of Janis’s cheese grater vocals

it’s like they heard 1 blues song and went, “I could do that”

Had high hopes for this one but disappointed

Boys & girls is a classic but the rest of the songs on this album were nothingburgers

DNF. Somewhere around the 11 minute jesus loves you song, I couldn’t take it anymore

A few classics on here — keep the car running, no cars go, my body is a cage. but the middle kind of drags. Their next album The Suburbs is better, made me just want to listen to that one

a veritable cornerstone of any self-respecting millennial middle schooler’s cd collection

Not sure how to rate this one. Good for what it is but not something I really enjoy listening to?

just not my cup of tea. very frenetic/shaky, the whole album made me anxious except the last track. struggling to separate it from modern contexts where it has been co-opted like burlesque dance, cartoons, film noir, dance classes I took as a kid. this is one where maybe you just had to be there

3.5 but I’ll round up. Hokey at times which takes me out of it. “Let me roll it” weighted the score higher, far and away the best song on the album.

A couple hits but mostly filler… nothing memorable

if talking heads and a less melancholy tears for fears had a baby it would be this band. bit too heavy on the horns though, gets repetitive

I heard so much Radiohead in this and I’m not mad about it

Holy cow. I don’t remember this album being this killer!? Refreshingly un self conscious. Badass energetic riffs. Unrelenting pace. Fucked up lyrics for all the right reasons. Also now painfully aware of the obvious influence they had on billie joe armstrong. Never was big on green day but now I know why… they were just trying to be this. Unhinged Elvis cover to close it out clinched it for me. 5 knuckle sandwiches 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

A crooked, slurred, meandering funhouse journey. The soundtrack of motion sickness. Perhaps one too many dings and clangs for my taste, but I respect the artistic vision.

Coffee shop music. Fades into the background for me. Gets repetitive. Very long album. 2.5 rounded to 3
