マッドチェスターの代表的アーティストによる1stアルバム。アルバムとしての完成度が素晴らしい。ダンスミュージックとの関連性は聞いていて一切分からなかったけど、良いサイケデリック音楽だと思った。

ベーシックなブルースロックアルバム。エリッククラプトン関連のアルバムを初めて聞いたけど、演奏やボーカル、音質、音像にそこまで訴求力は感じなかった。この人の入門としては適切ではないアルバムだったのかもしれない。ブルースロック自体あまり聞いてきていないので、一通り聞いていった後に再訪してみたい。小沢健二 - 地上の夜のパクり元が入ってて面白かった。

このアルバムは、自分が嫌いなタイプのポストロックのステレオタイプそのままの音だと感じた。このバンドの近年の作品は嫌われがちなのに対してこのアルバムの時期は称揚されがちだけど、この時から根本的な部分では変わっていないと思う。

ニューレイヴやエレクトロクラッシュといった2000年代の音楽にハマっていた時期があったので、聞いていないとおかしいはずなんだけど、このバンドは今回初めて聞いた。エモーショナルでノスタルジックな、このジャンルに対して期待している魅力が存分に表現されていて、素晴らしいアルバムだった。

このアルバムは中学生の頃に初めて聞いて、数年前にも聞き直したことがある。ポストロックはなんとなく苦手意識のあるジャンルなんだけど、シガーロスは楽しく聞けることが多い。このアルバムはロック然としているところがあって、いい塩梅で個人的にはちょうどいい。次作の()なんかは、より一層オーケストラルになって、このバンドに対する批判としてよく言われていることだと思うけど、眠くなる感じがあった。

ヒップホップに詳しくない自分でも何となく聞いたことあるグループのファーストアルバム。ジャジーなビートに適切なラップが乗っていれば、嫌いになりようがないと思う。数年前にこのグループのDJの人がフェスに出てたけど少し聞いたあと素通りしてしまったな。

著名なパンクロックバンドの三枚目のアルバム。日本における青春パンクというジャンルのせいでパンクに対して偏見があって、あまり聞いてきていないのでこのアルバムは初聴だった。最初期に第三世界の音楽の融合を高いレベルで成し遂げたという点では評価に値すると思うんだけど、これに影響を受けた凡百のくだらない音楽が頭をよぎる。

グラムロックの代表的バンドのT. Rex、名前しか知らなくて意識して聞いたことはなかった。何が素晴らしいのかをうまく言語化することができないけど、1枚を通して名盤の風格を感じる。柔らかいボーカルと音色、演奏の温度感がバッチリ嚙み合ってて聞き心地がとてもいい。 ”1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die”という企画に期待するのはこういうアルバムだったんだけど、7回目にしてようやく回ってきた。

ここでいま初めて知ったバンド。このアルバムはプログレをポップに格調高くしたような感じかな。悪くはないけど、涸れたようなボーカルがあまり好みではなかった。また、音色や展開に対して、悪く言うと古臭い時代性を感じた。今のところ好みではないけど、聞きやすくはあったので、再訪して好きになる余地はあるかもしれない。

ブルースの巨匠によるライブ盤。評価が高いライブ盤にはライブ特有の激しさや生生しさがあることが多いけど、このアルバムにはそういったものはあまりなく、軽やかに熟練の技を披露しているような感じがする。中盤から観客が盛り上がってきたときの歓声の入り具合が丁度いい感じ。生で見て一番満足度が高いのはこういうライブだと思う。

アルバムの音圧が低いことを意識してなくて、途中まで音量不足で聞いてしまったことも一因かもしれないけど、あまり乗れなかった。 3曲目について、長い曲には大体長くするだけの展開性やキャッチーさなどの根拠があるから評価が高くなることが多いと思ってるけど、この曲に関しては特にそれを感じなかった。他の人のレビューを見ると、歌詞の評価が高いようなので、自分はこのアルバムの魅力を十分受け取れていなさそう。

そもそもハードロックをほとんど聞いてきていないので興味深く聴いた。典型的なハードロックの中でも高品質だからこのリストに乗ってるんだと思うけど、あまり面白くないアルバムだなと感じた。ジャンルが好きな人にとってはシンプルな楽器隊が一周回って良いという感じなのだろうか。このアルバムのレビューでよく引き合いに出されているAC/DCを自分は一切聞いたことないんだけど、AC/DC聞く前にこれを先に聞いていいのか？

パンクロックの雛形。ニューウェーブやポストパンクといった派生ジャンルとくらべると、どうしてもジャンル自体が面白くないと思ってしまうな。歌詞は、社会制度も環境も全く違う国の住民からすると、時代の違いというのも大いにあるが、まったくピンとこないし面白くない。

再生して1分くらいで楽器の音がかなりはっきり分かれている感じが気になって、モノラルで聞いた方がよさそうだなと思いつつステレオで聞いた。ジャズはショッピングモールのトイレとか床屋で聞いてばかりいるから、良し悪しがまだよくわかってないけど、演奏がタイトで素直にかっこいいと思った。聞き終わった後にモノラル版を探して聞いてみたけどモノラルの方が良いね。
