100% A+++ album. Great album, could listen endlessly.
Can’t say I was super into it, a few nice moments but not really my vibe overall. Also was a bit of a slog at well over an hour long. Stevie Nicks is cool, didn’t realize how little she actually features on the album though.
Some good tunes, starts strong, got a little bored in the middle. Dig the sledgehammer and in your eyes, hits for a reason. Not sure I’d go back and listen more though.
Listened again in the evening, liked it a little more. Some kinda hilarious indulgent 80s tunes with much flute and triangle and 80s drumming.
Enjoyed it quite a bit, real flashback to hanging out at Mike Munroe’s house with Peter, listening to J5. Would definitely listen more. Great tunes, great balance & variety.
So much robot synth, so very German.
We are the rrrrrobots.
It was ok overall, can really hear how this turned into 90s industrial , NiN etc.
Fun listen. Dad woulda be into this one. Love the She Never Met a Man song - great contrast of pretty song with super salty lyrics, classic Dolly.
I’m a fan. All starts to sound the same but that’s kinda the vibe. Would listen to this a lot.
Love me some Kanye, this wasn’t my favourite album of his but still enjoyed it. Felt like it lost something through the middle tracks, and all the casual misogyny is… a lot (I.e workout plan).
One of my favourite Xmas albums for a while now, great for background Xmas party listening
Lots of great tracks, enjoyed it, but enthusiasm waned through the second disc. A few I’d skip throughout it. Nice to listen to overall.
Some good moments, can’t say I could ever really get into it though. Liked both my my hey hey tracks.
Again, classic I know, but not really my jam, but it was a good listen. Might feel different on re listen
Wasn’t a fan, couldn’t get into it, nothing really melodic to hang on to, guess it’s academically interesting as a post-punk something or other but I didn’t like it.
Fun listen, so many great tracks.
Fun listen, had never really listened to Arctic Monkeys much before. Fun upbeat album.
Was a fun listen. So very synthy and princy, some great classic tunes like 1999, a few I could do without. Enjoyed it from a historical perspective as I’ve never listened through a Prince album before, but it wasn’t love.
Love me some sonic youth. It’s no daydream nation but was a fun listen.
lol to this album. Terrible
Starting with the America song, land of hamburgers or whatever.
Honestly knew nothing about him before, but this was insufferable and pretentious as all hell. And the lyrics are just hilariously unsubtle. I was about three tracks in and couldn’t stand this man.
I wasn’t totally in the mood for it, but some great classic tunes (white rabbit in particular), enjoyed the vocal harmonies and sound
Fun listen lots of great songs. Interesting how old/traditional r&b it is, guess I don’t really know Ray Charles that much.
Enjoyed that! Beautiful album, love all her jazzy rifts. So distinctly Fiona Apple. I knew criminal, but so many other great tunes on the album too
Never heard of em. Funny to hear that classic sports arena tune in original context. Album was ok, not super memorable for me.
Started out thinking it was good, was into it, very heavy but interesting rhythm, some dynamic and melody mixed in. Just wore me down by the end, too much screaming, too much loud, just wanted it to be over.
Really solid album, so many hits, great melodies. Somehow I always feel like I should like oasis more than I actually do though. Solid album, but don’t feel like going back and listening again.
Beautiful album, enjoyed it then listened again and grew on me even more. So many hits, but also so much variety too, really unique sounds, textures and instrumentations throughout, love the random tenor sax blasts (the boxer) on various songs. Such a well crafted album. Favourite song is probably the only boy living in New York, flashback to the Garden State soundtrack.
It’s ok I guess. Why are these songs so long? And just continuously repetitive? Guess it’s a disco thing. Wasn’t super into this.
Found it pretty boring, struggled to make it to the end. Don’t really love his voice, and it was all just kinda mediocre to me.
Fun album overall, perhaps not the most memorable for me, but I enjoyed listening to it. Lots of Beatles vibes to it.
It’s ok, definitely some big hits and Mr Brightside is a great tune. But also just don’t love the killers, this album starts strong but doesn’t really carry through.
It was ok, I’m still coloured by that Morrissey album horror. This one was less offensive and some catchy bits sprinkled throughout. Still have moments of that dripping with narcissism vibe that I hated with the Morrissey album. Not love.
Nothing offensive, a bit forgettable to me, nothing I was super into. Some nice poppy tunes throughout.
Love Jimi, flashback to my mild high school obsession. Found this album kinda rambly at times, lots of long bluesy improvisations, like the 15 min long voodoo chile. Still really enjoyed it though.
I feel like I didn’t get this album, I like moments of it, but I was listening to it on and off, feel like I didn’t give it a great shot. Maybe on further listening it would grow on me. Felt really disjointed, but perhaps I was just disjointed.
I’m no great knower of jazz, but I enjoyed this. Would listen more, was great background music while I was doing some work.
Had never listened this one before, some good tunes, but also some forgettable stretches for me. Nice to hear the evolution of REM but doubt I’d pick this one up again to listen to. Still an enjoyable listen though.
It was ok, some catchy tunes mixed in, feels a bit generic somehow and I kinda find the singers voice grating after a bit, but still a fun light listen.
That was fun! Liked the upbeat feel, I know academically these are the guys that started it all. It’s very minimalist feeling, fun tunes
Never heard of them, but this was fun! Who woulda known girl punk + mildly out of tune but still somehow awesome sax was such a good combo.
Great album. Such awesome sampling, jazzy beats and iconic tunes. I always enjoy listening to this one.
Not a big jazz guy, but it was pleasant background listening while doing some work.
Love portishead, this is a notch below their first two albums for me, but still still great, classic haunting sounds. So much anguish. Unexpected ukulele solo on deep water. Favorites track is the rip, (almost gave it 5* for this song). Very torn 4 vs 5.
This album felt really dated. Was so campy and I couldn’t get into it. Some of these older albums have timelessness… this wasn’t one of them. I stuck it through but mostly wanted it to end.
I was mixed in it, some of the hits/classic tunes are great, so incredibly catchy, lots of wit/humour. But found the album to be a bummer listening all the way through, lots of hatred and anger and it was too long. Still some amazing tracks though.
Wow, really enjoyed this. Amazing voice, nice varied tunes, adding this to my mix. Had never listened to this album before.
Beautiful album, guess I’m uncultured since I’d never heard of Sarah Vaughan. Stunning voice, great songs, lots of charisma, would happily listen more.
I really didn’t get or enjoy this album. So much soprano sax (and Oboe??), real campy tunes that sound like Queen, Rolling Stones, Beatles and the rocky horror picture show all mixed together with a heavy dose in a weird way that aged poorly.
It was a decent listen, good background music while I was doing some work. Will mostly have forgotten about it by tomorrow though.
Nice, great flow. I feel like this would get better with more listening, pretty catchy, some nice sampling, good tunes. Also a bit boring and forgettable at times
I almost gave it 4* but I could get into it enough. Bookended by epic amazing tracks, but I couldn’t really get into it. Was probabaly just me or something.
Really great album. Crazy how current/new and different the beats and production still sounds over 20 years later. Dropped a star because it’s just so angry/dark and that’s not my vibe so I don’t want to listen to this on repeat, but the music is so good.
Some catchy tunes, and he’s a really talented rapper. But I just couldn’t get past all the terrible skits and misogyny.
I liked it, from that same era that is very nostalgic (pavement, sonic youth, dinosaur jr, many of the Canadian indie bands). A few tracks that felt weird and out of place, but otherwise an enjoyable listen.
This made me laugh, I had no idea it was when it hit play. A couple tunes were legit catchy (the opening track in particular somehow stuck in my head for days). Big chunks of the album were pretty meh, and didnt really like it when they switched in english. I was entertained at least. Laibach walked so Rammstein could run?
I really enjoyed it, liked the afro sounds mixed into jazz, trumpet playing was great. Don’t really know jazz enough to articulate why I like this more than other jazz albums that have been on this list. Would definitely listen again. Added bonus that the guy was a known anti-apartheid artist. Could use some of those right now.
Fun listen, so much energy, loved hearing the screaming crowd. Nice recording quality for a live album and dude can sing, impressive vocals for a live recording.
It is pretty music, I just can never get into the beach boys. Feel like I just don’t get it (and never have)
I didn’t really get this one, much of it felt like slightly better than average hold music. Perked up a few times but mostly I was not interested.
Found it a bit meh. Was hoping for more, I listened twice and found it pretty forgettable. I’m guessing Blur has some catchier/more compelling albums.
It was an ok listen, very campy. Not my favourite music style, feels pretty dated but was a nice up lighting vibe.
