I have a vinyl and cd of this one from what may be the greatest band of all time. Great to listen again
I'm like, "This is grunge!" I've heard the name and knew I had probably missed something back in the '80s and I was right. The precursor to so much music I would later love. Very cool album
Never really clicked with Paul Simon. Maybe things he was doing at the time were breaking new ground but it’s always left me flat. Okay album but was kinda waiting for it to be over
Couple of listens and there’s some interesting stuff in there. Wildside of course and the upbeat stuff I liked like Satellite. Overall meh though
An album that's ingrained in my memory. I ahven't listened in years even though I still own the original CD but after this re-listen it all came flodding back. There's some U2 hate out there that I don't understand past just being about the personality of the band but man I love this album. Dancing around the living room on this listen.
Red Hill Mining Town is extraordinary. In God's Country. Trip Through Your Wires. LOVE One Tree Hill. Side 2 is beautiful.
Some Funky Bowie. Young Americans is great and there’s some other cool stuff in there too.
A couple of songs in I was enjoying it but not blown away. Then when Starman hit there was a stretch of songs that pulled me in. Decided I needed to listen closer and now on my second trip through this album is incredible. The Ziggy Stardust Bowie was before my time and I thought of it as a gimmick like KISS. (KISS is fun but ain’t that deep:) This is not that. Love this album!
I didn’t really expect to be given an album that I had never heard of the band. Some obscure ones that I’d never listened to maybe. But I’ve never heard of The Youngbloods. Gave it a couple of listens but never clicked
Listened again and there are moments but not my favorite Stones album
Some gems for sure. Didn't keep me for the whole album but loved the incredible singles
With these beats and melodies I could listen to this over and over. Maybe a little too heavy on the simile rap but that was the time I guess. The little spoken word sections are fun the first time through but get skipped later on. Quibbles though. Great album
I’m sure they were influential and there are a couple of nice tracks but overall there’s a softness that rubs me the wrong way.
Halfway through and this is excellent! Grovin' along and need to back through the lyrics but love what I'm picking up. Such a vibe. Off to find more from her. LOVE!
Smooth beats and there's nothing like Snoop's voice but I can't get past the juvenile, pretend gangster, misogynistic lyrics. (Love "Who Am I" though:)
I feel like I should like The Smiths more than I do. “There is a Light…” is wonderful but overall not an album I’d listen to often
Rolling through the whole album thinking, meh. Then Time of the Season hits. A song that was in every 60's movie or 60's throwback movie. That beautiful Hammond organ. I felt like if Id have gone out and bought the album because of that song, I would have been disappointed by the rest.
Another one I own and love. Haven't listened in a while so I went back through it a couple of times and while I may not love it as much as I did when it first came out, it's still excellent.
If I were going to listen to EDM outside of a club setting, I would actually put some of these tracks on. Mostly though, I'm not going to buy and play EDM at home or in my car.
Some good classic country. Some weird obsessions with cheating and killing the cheater. Probably some other Yoakam I like better but not bad.
Some real depth and some real groove. Only through it a couple of times so I know I’m missing a lot lyrically but something I wouldn’t mind diving into more.
Familiar and some good stuff on there.
Dang! When this one popped up I was less than excited. I know Moondance and I've heard some other Morrison but wasn't a huge fan. And then a live album to boot. Meh. But I was so wrong! So much life and funk and an incredible live performance and recording. Love it!
I would probably skip some of the covers on relistens and focus on the originals but doesn’t take away from how I feel about it
I'm usually more of a groove guy than a lyrics guy so this was cool. Cool music from someone I'd never heard of.
Beautiful voice. Occasional Lion King vibes with humor and softer ballads too. Lovely
I'm going to finish it but... these guys voices have always been fingernails on a chalkboard. Some decent 80s beats and nostalgia but just, nah.
Some classics on this album. And some jam band feel in places that surprised me. Good stuff
Loving this one more each time through. Some classics are here of course but they seem more raw (in a good way) than I remember them. The whole thing feels less polished (again, in a good way:) and has real feeling. So good.
It's very AC/DC. More partial to Back in Black but Highway to Hell the song is great and the rest is what's expected.
Weird. I thought I was going to like this one more than I did. Good stuff but didn’t click throughout. Maybe I like the latter Lenny
Top to bottom great album. So many different voices and moods. Always loved the songs but hadn't listened to it all the way through as an album. love!
Another one I feel like I should like more than I do. Something irritates me about the vocals. Lots of Beatles similarities but not clicking with me. Even the songs I know from just being alive when it came out aren't as good on a closer listen.
I like some atmospheric music. Some experimental music. Most of Beck. But not so much this
Love the beats. Hard. Love the sound of Dre’s voice. Lyrically it’s the same problem I had with Snoop’s early work. All bravado and misogyny and not much depth. Gangster rap is like Bro country.
Seems like U2 figuring out who they are. Some good early work if a bit inconsistent
Very cool album! Played it through twice. Loved most of it with some songs that are absolute favorites.
If nothing else comes from this album generator but discovering this album it would be worth it. This is outstanding! Such a groove and such a voice. Love it and now I’m off to find more from him
I had to force myself to listen to this one all the way through. I like and have owned Kind of Blue but this one is just too experimental for me. Maybe he's a genius and maybe it's way over my head but that was a rough listen.
Another one I wasn’t familiar with. I’d head of Billy Bragg but didn’t know he was kind of electric folk and from England. Good stuff. I need to explore the lyrics more
Of my. I love this album. I know Hayes from Shaft and shorter cuts of Walk on By and Phoenix but I’ve been missing out. The long cuts are phenomenal! Four songs for an entire album! Crazy but it works. That voice and that band! One of my new favorites
Same as Dre’. Beats and sounds are cool but can’t take the lyrics. Same fake bravado and real misogyny and slur dropping. Maybe he’s playing a character but it ain’t working. And it keeps getting worse
Something about thus stage of heavy metal doesn't work for me. No rhythm and the sing song delivery of Ozzy feels weird. Solos put in in weird ways too.
A weirdly inconsistent album. Odd Prince collab song I had forgotten about. A Disney like, seemingly out of place song. Crazy last track. I remember her as the pop queen, 80s version of Taylor Swift but this is a strange one.
I was not cool or uncool enough to be into punk as a kid so I didn't know much about it. Still don't know much but I've come around because of albums like this. The politics, the musical experimentation in a genre not known for that, the fuck you attitude, all incredible. Love this album.
Wow! Such a wild, complex album. So many good things and so many things that are going to require several listens to work through. Nice new discovery
It's more like spoken word poetry than music at times. Gonna need a few more listens to appreciate the lyrics and the allusions but dig it
Incredible voice and I love the more original sounding songs. Not as much when it leans a little to heavily into the retro vibe but still good
I like the idea of the B-52’s better than the music. The hits and live show are great but not into the albums as a whole
Let’s Stay Together makes this album worth it no matter what. Great voice and nice groove throughout
Excellent album! Love the sound and influences. A different style of goth rock than me beloved Cure
New found love for Iggy Pop in the last year and bought this vinyl. Love his stuff
Better than Simon’s first solo album I rated earlier
Early Elvis finding his way. Needed better songs which came later but you can see what he became in there. Weird version of Blue Moon though
Another band I feel I should like more than I do
One I've owned forever. Sooo good! Love her voice and the songs.
The voice is of course the voice but the songs have a great groove. Love it
So, I know Peter Gabriel from So. Quirky but more MTV poppy than this wonderfully experimental work. I'll be going deeper into this one.
Excellent album from another band I wasn't familiar with. 80s college rock feel that I loved
Experimental R&B that I sometimes got into and other not. Have a better understanding of what Ocean does now so I may have to explore more
Spectacular album. 90s Brit poppy excellence
So many hits on one album. It’s crazy! Undeniably talented. The only thing that makes it 4 instead of 5 for me is it’s not something I would put on to listen to even though I appreciate it
Super grunge album and one of the best rock voices ever. Maybe not top to bottom my favorite but so many gems
Just could not get into this. Very much McCartney Beatles sound but almost to the point of parody. Other weird tracks just didn’t connect. Second listen it got worse
Mixed feelings about liking this way more than I thought I would. I've always dug The Beautiful People but never really listened deeply to his albums. Love the sound! But now that he's problematic it's a problem
Second best album from maybe the greatest artist of all time. My love for Prince can not be overstated and 1999 is a classic
Under the Bridge is wonderful and a couple of other classics but never have gotten into the sound of the Chilie Peppers. Not sure why
Another great surprise from an artist I wasn't familiar with. Need to explore his solo stuff now but this one is excellent!
If I were going to show someone what 60s psychedelic music sounded like I would use this album. Some sounds felt like they would fit perfectly in a Bond film. Not something I would listen to regularly but a perfect time capsule of the era
I think this is the third Bowie album that's come up and by far my least favorite. Feels like a movie score to a movie I haven't seen. I guess you get to a certain level and you can experiment as much as you want but this one doesn't do it for me
I spent some time in my 20s trying to culture myself by getting into whisky, cigars, and jazz. The whisky was the only one that stuck but there was some Miles and Coltrane I really liked including this one. Still do
This one holds a special place because two of the tracks, Wild Horses and Brown Sugar were recorded in Muscle Shoals while I was a toddler a few miles down the road. In the Beatles vs Stones debate I've always been Stones and this is one of my favorites
Atmospheric tracks that I REALLY like. More to explore here
Another surprise and another great discovery from this project. I'll be listening to more Rocket in the future
Couple of huge hits on this one and of course, Beyonce, but overall just lyrically and musically too simplistic. Going back and forth between 2 and 3 stars until the ridiculous Outro solidified the 2
Enjoyable and some classics.
Once in a Lifetime is one of the greatest songs of all time! Never listened to the rest of the album but it's good if uneven. May need a few more listens
The closest I've come to a DNF. Terrible but I made it through
Enjoyed this one and have always liked the idea of Nick Cave. Need to listen to more.
This album is drunk. Such a weird collection of styles on one album which may work for some artists but didn't work for me on this one. Maybe he needed the entire CSN&Y to focus and pull it together
One of my favorite bands. Great to revisit where it all started.
Ray Charles singing the classics is very nice. The oldest sounding album so far and something Don Draper would be spinning with a glass of whisky in hand
Didn't connect with this one after a couple of listens. I can enjoy music in a language I don't understand but I feel like I'm missing something with this one
Listened to the studio section but not all of the live tracks. Got the idea
