1001 Albums Summary

Fine - funky background. Not entirely to my taste.

Not listened to much New Order previously - much as I imagined. Good balance of synth and rock with some nice instrumentals too but not as anthemic as I tend to like.

A nice album with a few songs that do stand out for me like Simple Twist of Fate and You're going to make me lonesome when you go.

Amazing. Full energy throughout. One hit after another.

Strong but the big tracks are the standout.

Don't listen to much reggae but this is going on the list for a regular listen.

This is a far better album than my rating implies. It is a real work of art: I am extremely happy it exists on this list and glad Ilistened to it but... it's not one I'm going to keep coming back to.

Bought this in '97 on cassette. Great album with all the singles.

"My Back Pages" is great. The rest just fine.

Actually enjoyed and a lot less dated than expected. Hard to sit and listen to deliberately but enjoyed it as background.

I already own this.... but not sure why.... Appreciate the overall sound but thetunes don't speak to me.

Not awful but far prefer Fulfillingness' First Finale

Never listened toi Nick Drake before. I will now.

Never quite got on with Pearl Jam as much as their contemporaries. Find them a bit more meandering.

Love but not quite White Stripes best...

Obvious high points but not an album I would return to regularly.

Female vocalist in a similar style to what I like (folky) but with a slight edge which reminded me a bit of Imani Coppola. Sadly not quite the strong songs that would suggest though so over all... fine.

REM but forgettable. At best went slightly Meat Pupppets-y, at worst just bland.

Quite liked "Good Morning, Captain as had more life". Other than that, a generally higher standard of post-punk.

Love (and previously familiar with) Free Bird and Tuesday's Gone but nothing else stood out.

Some stuff I really liked here and reminded me of far more recent stuff. FOr example Empty Boat was almost Dark Star. Overall I probably wouldn't return to the album but some real high points.

Never thought I cared much for Radiohead..... I was right.
