Play by Moby
Jan 15 2026

solid 3.5

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Jan 18 2026

Weak 1.5 Not sonically intriguing, dragged on for too long (French version)

Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Jan 19 2026

4.5 The most intimate sounding live album I've ever heard. Made me want to explore the world of jazz more.

Pornography by The Cure
Jan 20 2026

3.5 Front loaded, became quite repetitive in the 2nd half but last track was different.

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Jan 23 2026

Not my type of music and I've heard much better in this genre. Feels badly aged. Couple of ok tracks at the beginning.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jan 24 2026

Although I think this album's quality and musical influences is highly overrated, I can appreciate the long term cultural impact it has brung.

Jan 25 2026

Some insane chord and tempo changes in this! Love her voice and I was captivated by the music throughout.

Fever To Tell by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jan 26 2026

Mostly decent. Middle third lost the way a bit.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jan 27 2026

Solid 4.5 My favourite Hendrix album. Haven't heard it in years, but was very pleased to have my ears blessed today. Little Wing is one of the most beatiful guitar pieces ever.

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Jan 28 2026

Whilst not my favourite album of theirs, this album is inspirational to me and I wouldn't be who I am today without it. I'm biased and sentimental, but to me this is a 5. Lions is criminally underrated.

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Jan 29 2026

Some absolute all timers on here, but also some average songs. Incredibly groovy, so much so that it inspired me to pick up my bass guitar for the first time in years! PYT makes me cringe terribly, even if the music is awesome.

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Jan 30 2026

I love live albums, and this is one of the greatest. Brilliant sound and a truly incredible concert experience. Really torn on whether it gets a 4 or a 5. It's a critical piece of music history and really is an album you should hear before you die, so I'll go 5. When Cash walks out and announces his presence, that's aura.

Raw Power by The Stooges
Jan 31 2026

I get that it's supposed to sound noisy and terribly mixed, but I still don't like it. I still don't like punk. Can I still appreciate what this album contributed to the rise of punk music despite this? Of course.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Feb 01 2026

Enjoyable, but I'm not going to be rushing to relisten. It's a solid 3, but doesn't have "the sauce" of a 4 IMO.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Feb 02 2026

It's been almost 5 years since I last heard this album. I was a bit hesitant when I saw this was today's album. It demands attention to its concept and asks the listener to reflect on societal issues. I'm not always prepared to commit that level of focus. What a treat that I got to experience such incredible art today.

Elvis Presley by Elvis Presley
Feb 03 2026

It's fine, nothing remarkable.

...The Dandy Warhols Come Down by The Dandy Warhols
Feb 04 2026

Not bad, but too long and felt lacking in ideas. Some inspired moments though, like the opener/closer.

London Calling by The Clash
Feb 05 2026

I'd already heard the famous songs from this album. Since I was a teenager I expected not to like it due to my distaste for punk - I felt like the cover told the entire story. Totally wrong, this album is great! The smile on my face when the saxophone first appeared.... For an album a little over an hour, there's barely a dull moment and every track has an exciting idea.

McCartney by Paul McCartney
Feb 06 2026

Kinda boring, didn't do anything for me but at keast it was over in the time it took to have breakfast.

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Feb 07 2026

Was a pleasant morning experience listening to this. I like Marley's voice and the relaxed feel of the music. Good conscious lyrics too.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Feb 08 2026

Incredibly strong songwriting and some really catchy songs on this. Just makes it to a 5.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
Feb 10 2026

I remember a conversation I had with some colleagues a few years ago, we were discussing our favourite Iron Maiden songs. My choice was Phantom of the Opera. I'll briefly explain why: I don't think there's many legacy bands who have as a defined, figured out sound on their debut as Maiden. Taking the idea of dual harmonising guitars (a la Thin Lizzy) and cranking it up to 11. The middle section of Phantom is breathtaking, both guitars trading against each other while Harris' bass drives the song in ways few other players ever have. This album has stunning highs and no lows, but theres a few average (maiden-quality) songs. A quintessential NWOBHM album, it's incredible that the band made even better albums than this.

Feb 11 2026

Half of the album is good, the other half is pretty rubbish. Queen were never able to make a great, consistent album. If you can only own one Queen studio album, it should be this. If you can only own one Queen album at all, unfortunately it should be the Greatest Hits. The Prophet's Song is their best song, I'll die on this hill.

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers
Feb 12 2026

I couldn't wait to stop listening to this. I gave up halfway through. That seems like a good candidate for a 1 star.

The Age Of The Understatement by The Last Shadow Puppets
Feb 13 2026

Funny coincidence that this album came up as I was in Sheffield today. Much more enjoyable than any Arctic Monkeys album. I liked the inclusion of strings but they felt a bit underdeveloped.

Sheet Music by 10cc
Feb 16 2026

Yeah, it's fine. Totally inoffensive and the first couple tracks were quite good.

The Doors by The Doors
Feb 17 2026

Great debut from one of the most iconic bands of the late 60s.

Feb 18 2026

Fist 3 songs are good then my goodness does the quality drop off a cliff.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Feb 26 2026
Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Feb 27 2026

One of the most beautiful sounding albums ever. Best enjoyed whilst leaning back in a chair, in a dark room, with headphones.

Purple Rain by Prince
Feb 28 2026

A very good album, but I do think "Sign" is the better Prince album. Purple Rain remains one of the most cathartic songs ever in my opinion.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Mar 10 2026

Huge arrangements and some brilliant pop tunes. A great example of an album split into sides, "Concerto for a Rainy Day" is a masterpiece and is the definitive way to listen to the legendary "Mr. Blue Sky". Loved the use of a couple of motifs throughout the album.

Future Days by Can
Mar 13 2026

So good. One of the best albums of all time, but not even Can's best album.

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Mar 14 2026

First half was good, didn't enjoy 2nd as much. I think PSRT is better, there's not much Garfunkel here I feel.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Mar 19 2026

The last Nick Drake album for me to listen to, is perhaps my favourite? Fits somewhere perfectly in the middle of his debut's more grand compositions and "Pink Moon's" loneliness. No bad tracks on this, really enjoyed listening to it and will definitely revisit.

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Mar 23 2026

I only started to get into salsa recently but I absolutely loved this album. So much positive energy and not a dull moment.

The Cars by The Cars
Apr 13 2026

Generally ok with a couple of bangers thrown in. I'd listen to a lot of other new wave albums before this though.

Apr 25 2026

Alright, I think I get it now. I've heard this album a few times before and appreciated some of the songs on it, but this listen was definitely different. Really good start to finish and one of the cornerstone albums for the beginning of prog and the concept album.

Apr 30 2026

Not a fan of the vocals on this and I must've heard these songs hundreds of times. Another one of those albums where everyone is guaranteed to have memories associated with at least one of the songs. Don't think I'll consciously choose to listen to this album again, given how often I hear Oasis in day to day life here in the UK. It's pop, it's culturally significant, but it's also nothing special in my opinion.

Spiderland by Slint
May 01 2026

Torn on whether to give this 4 or 5. Washer and Good Morning, Captain are absolutely incredible songs and I can totally see myself gaining an even deeper appreciation for this album over time.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
May 03 2026

To me, Tarkus is one of the weaker foundational prog epics. Yes it's good, but much like ELP in general, it serves as a display of musical virtuosity. Side 2 is better than I expected, given that people seem to find it significantly weaker (which it is).

xx by The xx
May 09 2026

Quite pleasant and easy dream pop. Focuses more on textures than melody I think.

Parallel Lines by Blondie
May 16 2026

I'd bet that someone is going to make a Blondie musical at some point

Blackstar by David Bowie
May 18 2026

I like Bowie, I'm not a super-fan but I've gained an appreciation for him as time has passed. That said, this album made me well up a bit at the end. Possibly my favourite album of his.

The Sensual World by Kate Bush
May 25 2026

Enjoyed this album so much more than I did on my first listen. Coming to the realisation that Kate Bush can do no wrong.

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jun 17 2026
...And Justice For All by Metallica
Jun 27 2026

Their most technically, and structurally exciting album. Not quite MoP in terms of a full package, but the more progressive tendencies of this album are unmistakable.
