White lotus theme tune is sick, got on with the other songs, feel like they are way ahead of their time in a good way, just not my sort of thing but I can really appreciate it.
A really hard listen for me, I can appreciate the musical ability and the genre of which this is and the artistic side, but it doesn’t feel an enjoyable listen. I tried a number of songs, half past France and Paris are probably the only ones I listened to all the way through without wanting to turn them off. Again just a hard listen, maybe a listen for another time.
I rate Neil young, is it his best record/album, probably not, it’s a pretty raw version of him, but to say harvest album was out before this, pretty shocked that isn’t the album chose.
He’s very marmite at the same time I can see why people don’t like him. Personally I like the mix of blues and country with the old school American rock he brings. Shame about the album choice.
World on a string is probably the best track on here and maybe roll another number.
Title track is a banger, and probably kicked ass when it came out, and who didn’t have a thing for Courtney love back in the day.
Sadly I wasn’t into the rest of the album, I can understand why they were big, mainly because of the whole Courtney/kurt.
Personally I thought they were a one hit wonder anyway and this really consolidated it, I do like the alt rock girl band set up specially from the era, abit like no doubt and bands like that. I just think like no doubt we’re a lot better and a lot more influential than this band.
Must mean nirvana will be popping up at some point atleast
So from someone that listens to Tyler the creator and mac miller when I’m feeling that sort of vibe, although I’ve heard Kendrick’s damn album and enjoyed that, I’ve never give this one a go until now.
I wish I’d have tried it sooner, the samples on the songs are on point for Kendrick’s voice,
Blend of bringing the sound of new and old rap together.
Money trees is a stand out song for me, as well as backseat freestyle.
Bitch don’t kill my vibe even the remix’s are ok wouldn’t say it’s my favourite mainly the chorus I thinks just abit too much but the actual rap in them is stand out.
I suppose if your not into that genre of music it would be hard to give this ago, it’s not my top genre but I can see how he’s in the mix on this.
This just sets my whole mental health off to a new level.
Probably wasn’t the day to listen, a Monday.
As jazz goes fair enough, hands down, great talent,I’m not a jazz person myself I find it very hard to listen to if it’s not a live performance.
Heads on fire
All I can hear is peaky blinders every song.
Heads had its fire put out by this soggy biscuit.
Some alright songs on here that don’t murder the ears. Feel like this is one to come back to at a later date, could see myself getting into him abit more with abit more time.
I don’t actually mind breathless and o children as tracks probably would be best on the first side/part but hey what you going to do.
I thought when I’d seen the name bjork I’d know more songs then I did, turns out I’d never heard any off this album. Listening to this album you can see where inspiration for a lot of other artists have come from.
Her voice is sweet, and she can give it some power at the same time. I like that the music is a bit miss match now and then which changes things up.
I was really surprised by this I won’t lie.
Is it up there with my favourite, probably not. But it’s not upset me.
Let’s be honest we are only listening to this for tainted love, because that’s an absolute banger.
Say hello, wave goodbye
Torch
Where did our love go
All did a job for me actually.
Some of this album is far fetched, I can see why it’s on here for the time it was out. Deep in the era and the vibes of the time. Has it got a timeless sound, definitely not, but it is a nice change to give this a listen all the same.
Just glad I listened in private and didn’t have it on in a bathroom I was installing, client would have thought I was getting down and steamy.
Middle of the road.
To be honest, I just wasn’t into this.
Iconic band and songs. But really for me I didn’t think it was up there. I’ve never been a huge blondie fan anyway but, yeah, something wasn’t engaging with me on this one.
Hanging on the telephone is probably the one i listened to a few times.
The strokes probably up there with the pioneers of that era, the good old indie era.
I can see why they are in here. Was such a huge era for this sort of music.
Someday and last nite absolute bangers.
Hard to explain and take it or leave it, is probably the only other songs I was a fan of.
I find this album very samey, vocals and guitar riffs, as well as the drums. Feel like it could do with some backing vocals to take the edge off in some songs. Also quite hard to listen to sometimes.
It’s probably a one and done album for me.
But props to the strokes.
Middle of the road for me.
Think the cover is getting more attention.
Well shiver me timbers…
I really enjoyed this today. A long way from the strokes.
The vocals sit perfectly on these songs. Unreal guitar work, something to be said for an electric guitar and blues music. The drumming is perfectly timed.
I get it, it’s a live album, personally I’m not a live album fan, but as far as live albums go. Pretty great recordings.
Just a really enjoyable experience all around.
Urged me to look into their catalogue abit more.
Oooo lorde lorde….
I really enjoyed this album today , i find her voice infectious, it’s not the best voice mind but it works very well.
Hints of hip hop, samples, pop, electronic, are pretty good for what she’s doing.
I don’t understand why her 2013 album isn’t the album of choice with royals on if I’m honest. ( I don’t really get some album choices)
Green light is obviously the banger on here, pop classic, homemade dynamite is well made for me and the Louvre. Other than that it is pretty samey.
I really hope she wrote most of her songs or had a hand in it, if so more respect for her.
It’s middle of the road for me still but it was a nice change.
He’s a genius in his own right, but my god my head was scrambled.
I can see where the drugs came into the mix, we’ve all got weird with music, but to create like this as well. Fair play.
Again a lot of it is so smart and well put together and then on the flip side mind blowing and I’m not too sure if it’s in a good or bad way.
To pull a song called rock and roll pussy off as well. Fair play.
Don’t know if it just screams parody to me.
I wanted to like it more than I did. But just feel like it was so intense in the first listen and it didn’t draw me to want to go again. I am going to give his other stuff a go though.
It’s no highwaymen.
But the first listen I enjoyed some aspects but wasn’t fully sold, second listen it all made sense and I enjoyed a lot of it.
Neil young is the stand out for me, again I like him so probably bias.
The gritty, more rocky hinted songs draw me in the most, I think that’s what they should aim more for. a lot of it is abit dreary, slow and whiney. Harmonies are something else mind, and the musical talent is all on show.
Hate to compare some of the stuff to the beetles, because I hate the beetles but, there is some influence. (Hate the beetles, how can you, I just don’t get the hype I think there were so may artists around in that era doing better things, and paul McCartney is a dinger)
But overall, it’s ok, struggling to get past middle of the road.
)
As far as America rap goes, Dre is up there producing and writing wise and is revolutionary in this genre, not only going against the grain, bringing new talent through, so I do have a lot of respect for him.
In terms of this album, I used to listen to this as an early teenager, and loved it. Nothin but a g thang, bitches ain’t shit, fuck with Dre day. To say he doesn’t actually like rapping himself that much and coming off the back of nwa with all what was going on to release an album like this fair play.
Is it the best album, no, not at all, snoop dog makes this album i think, both of them on a song, is a hit.
Just very old school and would offend a lot of people in the words but hey it was acceptable then.
Is this album above a 3 unfortunately not he has over songs that’s I would have put above a 3 in his catalogue but overall it’s just steady, does what it says in tin.
I mean, it is that album that everyone knows and loves. I can see why this is on here. There’s not really much to day about it.
From start to finish just a glorious production.
The bass lines are something else.
I mean they aren’t my favourite band, but I’m here for this album.
First listen I wasn’t feeling this at all, but second listen was another story I enjoyed it. Could I listen again, no, the album does drag on.
It is very repetitive this album but there is some brilliance in there.
I like the fugees, I think I like the more then her on her own.
Doo wop is the track I’ve heard in general over the years and I must say I enjoyed the samples and the singing on that track.
Ex factor the music samples and singing are also 👌
I don’t know maybe I’m missing something on here I just don’t think there’s enough of everything. Just snippets of brilliance, is that enough to carry an album, I don’t think so.
I mean superb now we are fucking talking, fuck the Beatles.
Long fucking live.
Guitar work Down to key changes and the production, and the vocals all just work. I’m here for it.
There’s not much else to say really. It does the job.
The title pretty much says how I feel.
Super flyyyyyy babyyy
I enjoyed this, felt like I was wearing a corduroy flared suit.
Eddie you should know better (belter)
No thing on me (belter)
I really enjoyed this album, the voice the piano, the drums, the whole assortment of it.
Would listen again
Didn’t give it a great listen but what I heard was lovely
I fucking love Bruce
That is all…..
I mean it’s led zeppelin
There’s ups and downs in this record, sometimes I feel like it’s a masterpiece sometimes I feel like they are just overdoing it. Sometimes I think even they are lost in their songs. Great listen all around
I’d say it was an album for a Friday it’s pretty deep to listen all in one day and take it in.
I mean I do like some David Bowie stuff, he’s done a lot of inspirational work. I’m just not keen on this album. His voice is marmite for me. Some songs it’s great in some it just sounds off.
Music wise this album is great, can’t take that away from it.
Just wants over excited when I heard the songs.
I mean obviously, I know ‘where is my mind?’ Actually don’t mind this song, feel like it does a job.
Gigantic is actually pretty good,I like her voice on it. It’s a prolific sound what a lot of other artists have tried to take inspiration off.
Oh my golly sounds like a shopping trolley running into a wall, shocking.
The rest of the album just seems a mess to me, i feel like they’ve tried to be too much, too different. It’s neither grudge nor indie. Some songs are just so hard to listen to.
I like certain sounds, certain riffs, certain bass lines but ultimately it just doesn’t work for me All in all I’ve give it a two jus for the sections of actual brilliance.
Youd probably only get me listening to them again if their song came on a playlist. In terms of choosing to listen. It would be a no
This was a lovely album, I listened yesterday morning to start the day.
I feel there’s not much really to say, it hits on all levels, I was very surprised.
I enjoyed it, something new.
Fun fact I had this album as a kid, guilty pleasure, listening to it now was lovely. Is it a masterpiece, no, but is it catchy and fun, yes
This would have been a 5 if I could have had abit more of a listen, but this is purely based off the first listen and the songs I know.
Catchy, fun, unreal guitar work, unreal voice
