The Next Day by David Bowie
Jan 28 2026

Unmistakably Bowie. I found it okay, but nothing more.

Jan 29 2026

This had much more big band in it, and less r'n'b, than I'd expected. Most of the songs here seem to be standards, independently of Ray Charles's treatments of them.

Low by David Bowie
Feb 03 2026

I'm familiar with this one. Great album, one of his best.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Feb 06 2026
Kenza by Khaled
Feb 11 2026

Not as Arabic/African as I'd expected.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Feb 16 2026

Bastard racket

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Feb 17 2026

Enjoyable.

GI by Germs
Feb 19 2026

Shite.

The Clash by The Clash
Feb 23 2026

A classic.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 24 2026

The tedious sound of a millionaire trying to be working class. Stadium rock.

Broken English by Marianne Faithfull
Feb 25 2026

I vaguely knew this one, mostly because of the title track, which is great. The rest is good in places.

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Mar 03 2026

Familiar with this one. A great heavy band with a not inconsiderable gift for pop tunes.

Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Mar 04 2026
Phrenology by The Roots
Mar 05 2026

Hip-hop with great musicianship. What's not to like?

1977 by Ash
Mar 06 2026
Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 09 2026

Okay if I'm in the mood for reggae, which I rarely am.

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Mar 11 2026

An absolute bastard racket.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Mar 16 2026

I don't like the whole LP, but some is great.

So by Peter Gabriel
Mar 19 2026
Kala by M.I.A.
Mar 20 2026

Neneh Cherry with more kit.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Mar 23 2026

Not their finest, but still pretty good. Right up my street.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Apr 06 2026
Dirt by Alice In Chains
Apr 21 2026

Okay in short bursts.

Ten by Pearl Jam
May 18 2026
Wonderful Rainbow by Lightning Bolt
May 20 2026

Makes jazz sound tuneful. Absolute shite. No stars.

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
May 25 2026

Big band jazz. What you'd expect.

Cosmo's Factory by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jun 08 2026

Good, but patchy.

Some good stuff, but patchy.

The Stooges by The Stooges

Mostly great, some filler.

Jul 16 2026

Great to hear again. Tailed off a bit at the end.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence
Jul 17 2026

Nah.

Faust IV by Faust
Jul 24 2026

The first track is great, a couple of others almost match it, and some is experimental.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Jul 29 2026
Risque by CHIC
Jul 31 2026

Pretty good, brilliant in places.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Aug 03 2026

One great tune and a load of shite.
