Queens Of The Stone Age

I'm not consider myself to be a QOTSA fan by any means. I know their 2-3 most famous songs because they were basically everywhere, but although I liked these, I never bothered to have a look at their albums.
Honestly, it's hard to believe that these are the same guys. Never in my life have I heard such a boring and uninspiring album. Neither the guitar riffs, nor the weak lyrics could catch me, leaving me with an overall bad impression of this album.
I really hope their newer albums are better.

That didn't age well ...
David Bowie
3/5
There is a total of 9 David Bowie albums in this 1001 albums list, but I really wonder why exactly they put this one in. It cannot reach the great albums of the 70s, it's sub-par at best.
Surely I don't know all of his albums.
Having read the background story it all makes sense, elderly David Bowie weakened by angioplastic surgeries on his way to recovery secretly produces an album. The songs on this album, especially "Where are we now" reflect this but even the melancholy in these lyrics cannot cover up the fact that most songs on this album are average at most.
It's highly unlikely that I will ever listen to this again.
Led Zeppelin
4/5
This is classic hard rock, straight from the book. It features strong blues influences. Highlights include "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" and "Communication Breakdown.
Lyrics are a bit disappointing. Apparently it's all about leaving girls, not leaving girls, cheating girls and so on. Maybe it's typical in 1969 but certainly not interesting at all in 2026.
Bee Gees

It’s not really my cup of tea. In fact, I hate it.
Wire
4/5
I certainly enjoyed listening to this album. It could as well have been published in the 2020s. If I hadn't read the year of publishing, I wouldn't have noticed it's age. Apparently punk hasn't changed much in the last 50 years :-)
My highlights are "Mannequin", "Mr. Suit" and "1 2 X U".
The Mamas & The Papas

Muddy Waters

I don’t listen to blues every day, or even every year, but I really enjoyed this piece of musical history. “Mannish Boy” is a killer opening track and, hands down, my favorite on this album.

Nice beats, misogyne BS lyrics, okay'ish performance, 3 stars
Marty Robbins

It's difficult to rate an album I can’t connect with musically, I really don't like country at all.
Also I don’t like these "cowboy‑gun" lyrics.
"Big Iron" has become more of a meme after beeing heard in the Fallout games and tv show, that's nice but the rest of this album sounds more or less the same to me.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
2/5
Never been a huge RHCP fan. Most of their stuff sounds the same to me, the singer yelps like a dog whose tail has been stepped on.
Californication is clearly the better album.
There are some good songs here, but the album is way to long overall.
Although I enjoyed some songs, most of them didn't appeal to me, and I couldn't find any interesting lyrics.
System Of A Down

A lot of bangers on this one. Sugaaaaaarrrr!
The Flying Burrito Brothers

I hate it and hope that I don't hear anything like this ever again in my life.

Sounds like average guitar pop to me. Probably a banger back in the day.

Cheap Trick

The recording sounds cheap and I feel tricked, turns out this wasn't even recorded at Budokan but mostly at Osaka instead.
All the attempts to fix this in the post can't hide the fact that the recording is a Charlie Foxtrot and should have been wiped.
However, there are a few big hits on it.
Joan Baez

Not my cup of tea, but surprisingly good.
Pet Shop Boys

This album didn't click for me right away on the first listen, but on the second play I find it much more interesting. I never expected that I'd enjoy such sad-guy singer-songwriter stuff so much.
Miles Davis
2/5
I really hoped I would like this album more, especially because it stands out from the crowd of boring guitar‑pop that dominates this list. But I'm afraid I don’t like experimental-ass jazz.
Marvin Gaye

The Strokes

Is this it? I don't think so. There's a lot of filler besides 2 or 3 above‑average songs. Nothing more.

Freedom! `90 is a banger and stands out from all this filler material.
