Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jun 03 2026

A good album with intricate arrangements, I fancy the acoustic guitar parts that often take strange directions. Although a little bit repetetive when you come to the end of the album.

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Jun 04 2026

I can understand the geniosity of DJ Shadow and his complex sound and drum patterns, but I found out to challenging to endure listening to more than just a song.

1999 by Prince
Jun 05 2026

All in all a good album with many cool hooks, however the length of many of the songs tend to be a wee bit long.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jun 08 2026

I liked it, especially the three part harmony singing.

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Jun 09 2026

Paul takes us on a journey a bit away from Beatlesland, and it's quite a fun ride with groovy basslines and tight musicianship. At times it feels like the songs are a bit too messy, a little more straight forward approach would have made it a better listen in my opinion.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Jun 10 2026

I'm not really a jazz cat, but I feel like this album is a good introduction to the genre and I can sure feel the groove starts to grow on me.

Blood, Sweat & Tears by Blood, Sweat & Tears
Jun 11 2026

Hm nah I appreciate the idea of the album, but it didn't hid it right

Bookends by Simon & Garfunkel
Jun 12 2026

All in all a good album, but too many songs leaves me unmoved. However is the ending with the more "upbeat" songs A Hazy shade of winter and At the zoo a happy suprise, and therefore I am raising my rating from a 2 to a 3.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jun 16 2026

I feel obliged to give this classic a rating of 4, although I'm no Stones fan.

Rid Of Me by PJ Harvey
Jun 17 2026

I like the idea of the album with it's LoFi-elements and sparse instrumentation, but I have to listen to it more times before I give a more true rating. Also this is more of an evening album than a morning album (I always listen to my daily album in the morning, half asleep...)

Jun 18 2026

Rough and rowdy in the right way, although as a non-English native speaker it's a bit of a challenge to understand all of the rambling from mr Waits.

Nevermind by Nirvana
Jun 19 2026

A bit overrated, but all in all a solid album that laid the foundation for a lot of upcoming grunge bands. RIP Kurt

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jun 22 2026

One of few of the 1001 albums that I heard before and I looked forward to revisit it in its entirety. Jack and Meg rock the socks off and I enjoy the insertion of the slower songs to cool things down a bit.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Jun 23 2026

Robert Zimmerman has gave us a good piece of art, and there is a lot to say about the album but I can't really say more than I enjoyed it quite a lot after only one spin. "Tangled up in Blue" is a great start and I actually enjoy the length of the songs, which is not that prevalent in modern country/singer song writer songs.

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento
Jun 24 2026

No this brazilian bossa nova or what it is, is not for me.

Electric by The Cult
Jun 26 2026

Aha now I get where the band Mustasch got its inspiration! Harsh vocals with fuel drenched guitars and that perfect distortion on the rhythm guitar is nothing but icing on the cake.

Document by R.E.M.
Jun 29 2026

Starting off strong with "Finest Worksong" which is quite up-beat for being an REM-song, but then it get's a little gloomier overall and that's where I start to lose focus. But a solid album and absolutely worth a listen.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Jun 30 2026

Gimme the loot man, so funky I can't even... and don't get me started on "Juicy", slaps so hard and the delivery is real tight. Little did I know that I would enjoy ready to die so much 32 years after its release, also as a super white male with barely any hip hop experience, thank you 1001 album generator for this surprise!

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Jul 01 2026

Yeah this was a fresh fruit for me, punky and raw in its right way! The jangly guitars and the overall chaotic instrumentation fits like a glove, I'm sure going to revisit Dig Me Out again.

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Jul 02 2026

I can't decide on a fair rating on this one, so I give it a 3 until I have thought it through. A little to winy singing so it's a weak 3.

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Jul 03 2026

Not bad, especially the guitar work from Andy Summers is on top, love his usage of effects.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Jul 06 2026

I can't hear "it" through the grapevine, nor feel I so engaged, not godnatt relisten

Kid A by Radiohead
Jul 07 2026

I like the weirdness and oddness about the album, but one have to be in the right mood to really appreciate it.

Aja by Steely Dan
Jul 08 2026
Sunday At The Village Vanguard by Bill Evans Trio
Jul 09 2026

Absolutely impressive with the chops from these fine gents, and the panned bass is nice to really hear it. But once again, I am no jazz cat and I have trouble to get this genre

American Pie by Don McLean
Jul 10 2026

Starting off strong with American Pie then the rest is quite mellow, frankly.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Jul 13 2026

Okay this is all solid, good song writing and all, but I cant really attach to it for some reason.

C'est Chic by CHIC
Jul 14 2026

FREAK OUT! This one makes me wanna sit dance really much!

Jul 15 2026

Not sure how to summarize it, the album balancing on the edge of being to weird but at the same time stays interesting

Grievous Angel by Gram Parsons
Jul 16 2026

Not sure what to think of it first, but after hearing I cant dance (I do think you could dance mister Parsons!) and Love Hurts I got the vibe right and understood his impact on country rock!

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jul 30 2026

First of all I'm surprised how I have completely slept on this! I like many things about it, perfect crisp production, the Sam Beam-like singing, the fun and surprising instrumentation and resemblance to Belle & Sebastian. There are a few things I dont quite like, the lack of vocal dynamics and the brutal length of the album and that it is too "pretty", I long for some rawness. However I'm glad I was introduced to Sufjan and his universe!

Kenya by Machito
Jul 31 2026

Every now and then you give me albums like this that is really hard to listen to, Im sorry but this jazz or what it is I cant stand

Back In Black by AC/DC
Aug 03 2026

Longed for this classic album, every song is a banker!

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Aug 04 2026

Really impressive that this is all improvisation!

Aug 05 2026

Fresh surprise with some weird 70's music, I like the amalgamation of a lot of different genres. Especially appreciate the progginess. Hail Spirit!

Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon & Garfunkel
Aug 06 2026

Sure is impressing how many gems this album spits out, Cecilia and The Boxer are my standout songs.

Aug 07 2026

Never heard a song from this album in particular (but of course I'm not new to Floyd, I haven't slept under a rock), I enjoy the spacey sound and intricate production and the craft overall, this is exactly my cup of tea!

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Aug 10 2026

Nick Cave you wonderful human being, this is nothing but amazing! I hear so many bands you have influenced with this record, and the vastness of genre that doesn't feel too wide sure is admirable. Only listened to Disc 1 so far so even if "Lyre of Orpheus" disappoints me this album is worth a 5-star rating!

The Band by The Band
Aug 11 2026

Compared to what Beatles or the Eagels did at the same time, this falls a bit flat honestly. Nothing bad about it really, the album just feels a bit mid, like they are holding back. If more songs were like "Look out cleveland" which is quite groovy I would rate it higher.

Southern Rock Opera by Drive-By Truckers
Aug 12 2026

Exactly like the truckers sing on the first song "You know free bird is a very long song", this quote also describes Southern Rock Opera perfectly well. Just bland old southern rock drenched in Skynyrd references and never really gets exciting.

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Aug 13 2026

After a pretty poppy and catchy start with "Teen age riot" we're heading in the opposite direction to a punkier and darker territory in track nr 2 "Silver Rocket". Now the jangly guitars and harsh vocals takes over, and it doesn't feel like an uncomfortable transition at all. I admire the weird guitar chords and the use of feedback, and I can hear so many bands that are influenced by Sonic Youth that I listen to, Senses Fail, Refused and even a bit of Ghost. However one gets a little too fed up before coming to the end of the album, so therefore I can't give it a 5 but a solid 4.

Skylarking by XTC
Aug 14 2026

Unfortunately I'm not that keen on brit-pop, but I can hear XTC are a talented punch of bowl cuts. Haha now I get it, XTC = ectacy, my brain giggles a wee bit!

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Aug 17 2026

Don't understand why it got soo many streams, cool production and tight muscianship yes but otherwise it feels boring

Bossanova by Pixies
Aug 18 2026

This is like Weezer therefore I like it. However it not enough Weezer for it to get a 4.

Elvis Is Back by Elvis Presley
Aug 19 2026

Oh yeah Elvis with your devilish swinging hips, never heard a song from this album before but one can get why you got so popular, good presence and nice production. Best track: "Such a night", you get both the famous tremolo vocals plus a surprising belting in the middle of the song which was quite uncharacteristic and pleasant.

Unhalfbricking by Fairport Convention
Aug 20 2026

Quite a pleasant start with plucking guitars but when arriving to the fourth track "A Sailors life" (which clocks in at astongishly 11 minutes!) I have to set sail for another record and leave out all the rest. And what is up with the album cover, how dull can it be?? However my wife says it's the best cover she ever seen...
