All Hail the Queen by Queen Latifah

I am so used to thinking of Queen Latifah as an actress, that I kind of forgot she started out as a rapper

This is a really good live album, but I just feel that live albums shouldn’t take up space on this list. Especially when there is such an underrepresentation of female fronted albums.

I’m almost embarrassed to admit this, but before I started this project I had never heard a single Bob Dylan song. On day 4 my album of the day was ‘Blonde On Blonde’, and although I had convinced myself I wouldn’t enjoy it, it ended up being a 5 star album for me. And now on day 44 I get to experience another Bob Dylan album for the first time. While I didn’t love this album as much as ‘Blonde On Blonde’, I really loved being able to listen to this album while walking home from a very busy day at work, it felt really fitting for some reason

This is a decent r&b album, but the fake Blaccent was a little distracting at times.

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

What a bittersweet coincidence that this is the album I get to listen to the day after Dolly’s death was announced. I kind of can’t believe I hadn’t heard this album before now, as I absolutely love Linda Ronstadt, and have enjoyed a fair share of Dolly Parton’s music. It’s completely unsurprising to me that I ended up loving it as much as I did, and it makes me really want to listen to this trio’s other album together. What an amazing group of women to pair up together.

My dad and I have always loved sharing music with each other. He played Lazarus for me on Christmas Eve of 2015, as we were getting ready to leave for a restaurant. The memory has stuck with me, because I didn’t know a huge amount of his music outside of the hits, and I found it hard to believe that an artist this late into their career was still making such experimental and meaningful music. I have since become a pretty big Bowie fan, and while this isn’t my favorite project by him, it still always reminds me of that one otherwise unmemorable Christmas Eve. And I do love it for that

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson

This album hit like a warm, comforting hug. I’ll Never Leave You made me feel like I was ascending to the heavens.

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Sep 26 2026

Look I think Fats is great, but I do not think a compilation album is essential listening.

Venus Luxure No. 1 Baby by Girls Against Boys
Oct 04 2026

On a majority of songs I found the vocals way too quiet, it was really hard to hear what they were actually saying

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Oct 06 2026

Fabulous album, Kendrick is a master at his craft. This is more a 4.5 to me than just a regular 4.

Bright Flight by Silver Jews

Oct 11 2026

The fact that she was just 23 when she released this is so wild to me. While I completely understand and respect her choice to not make another album, I can’t help but wonder what kind of album she would have made later in her life.
