1001 Albums Summary

So pretty. The ubiquity of "Girl from Ipanema" makes me forget how pleasant the album is as a whole.

Clever, catchy song-writing. The orchestrations are less corny than I feared. Some songs are more convoluted than necessary though.

It's tough to get past the basic '80s beats (some exceptions eg, Parental Discretion iz Advized). But Ice Cube's flow always hits.

Technical virtuosity not enough to make up for the cacophony of this “noise rock”. I kind of liked the song Kerosene.

This is essentially delta blues, with Sympathy for the Devil tacked onto the beginning of the album. Very enjoyable delta blues.

Tasteful and unique r&b. I hadn't heard of Kelela - I like it.

Songwriting obviously immaculate, but stodgy instrumentation and Cohen's own lackluster voice keep me from loving this.

I only knew Stewart in his hackey-older phase, and never considered the work that made him an icon. This album is legit.

This type of word-focused rock never really hits for me. But, I'd never even heard of Dion, and that's kind of the point of this whole project. So that's good I guess.
