Popular Reviews

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction

Men will literally destroy their vocal chords before they go to therapy to deal with their daddy issues. Also I think these dudes are probably awful to sleep with, my condolences to anyone who's tried

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Jun 26 2026

Top notch storytelling. Sad Lisa will now officially be my anthem whenever I'm faced with a minor inconvenience

At Fillmore East by The Allman Brothers Band
Jun 29 2026

If rock was also jazz

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jun 30 2026

Chill, cool

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Jul 02 2026

Weird, spooky, emotional, driving beats, makes me think of rain. The more time has passed since I listened the more I like it.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Jul 03 2026

Funky basslines and sleepy ballads

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Jul 09 2026

What if everything was beautiful and sad

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Jul 10 2026

50s honky tonky but more jagged, minus points because he sounds like a cross between John Travolta and Bob Dylan

Graceland by Paul Simon
Jul 13 2026

feels poetic, reminds me of a Congolese jazz album I've been listening to which lead me to find out he worked with several South African musicians, which was controversial because it was during Apartheid - interesting stuff. I like the plucky guitar style and there are some killer lines.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jul 14 2026

Discordant and disturbing, echoey and loud, crash-bash-bang. Would be so fun to hear live. It's also cool to read about how many bands were influenced by her. Love a scary woman, she can cut my head off and eat it any time.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jul 15 2026

Didn't think I was going to like it, tried to keep an open mind, still didn't like it. Some of the softer stuff was alright, like Tangerine, but otherwise, too much dudes yelling. The classic rock dads can keep this one.

I Against I by Bad Brains
Jul 16 2026

I feel like I shouldn't like this, but there's kind of an interesting vibe. Almost ska? But like really angry ska. It's loud and discordant but also a head bopper

Nothing's Shocking by Jane's Addiction
Jul 17 2026

Men will literally destroy their vocal chords before they go to therapy to deal with their daddy issues. Also I think these dudes are probably awful to sleep with, my condolences to anyone who's tried

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jul 20 2026

Her voice is like butter with a little vibratto

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Jul 21 2026

Love the story telling and the consistent groove

25 by Adele
Jul 22 2026

No doubt she's got a powerful voice, but for some reason the production sounds corporate to me

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jul 23 2026

I don't think Zappa and I are operating on the same wavelength, but it sure is something

Jul 24 2026

The sentiment I'm here for, the yelling and banging not so much. I do respect it though, rock on boys, fuck the police

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Jul 27 2026

Soothing, smooth, and Romantic in a tragic way

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Jul 29 2026

This was a fun time, sounds like a James Bond theme but Indian

The Doors by The Doors
Jul 30 2026

But of a snooze fest TBH. Also, they say the phrase "little girl" a little too often for my liking. You mean grown adult woman, right?? Right?????

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Jul 31 2026

Bop after bop after bop, and that message of South American unity? Are you kidding me? This one's a winner

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Aug 03 2026

The album really gives you the at-a-music-festival buzz, and these are clearly some top-notch musicians. Lovely vibe for my Sunday evening

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips
Aug 04 2026

Very beep boop wee woo but somber. The computer robot imagery feels a bit dated to me, very of it's time

Music by Madonna
Aug 05 2026

Creative combination of electronic and acoustic sounds, it's got a rhythm and pulse and major bops. Queen of pop for a reason.

Face to Face by The Kinks
Aug 06 2026

Category is: campy deadbeat dad in 1966 who drives an obnoxious convertible chic. I do think it ends in a high note though.

Spiderland by Slint
Aug 07 2026

For the bummer boys crying in the club

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Aug 10 2026

Eerie, haunting, reflective, like the grim reaper was looking over his shoulder and also now mine too

The Score by Fugees
Aug 11 2026

Iconic cover of Killing Me Softly

Nowhere by Ride
Aug 12 2026

It's got a really droning buzzing vibe, sometimes good sometimes bad

Celebrity Skin by Hole
Aug 13 2026

A part of me really likes this, and I think it's the part that jammed out to Avril Levine as a pseudo-angsty preteen. Justice for one of the most unfairly maligned women of the 90s!

The Specials by The Specials
Aug 14 2026

Who knew ska was this old

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Aug 18 2026

Now this is sad but music I can get behind. These something that feels honest and raw about it

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Aug 19 2026

Literally this is what would happen if you gave a goose and a bunch of gorillas a drum set, a guitar, and some LSD and told them to go crazy

Clube Da Esquina by Milton Nascimento
Aug 20 2026

Very folksy, feels alternately like a warm hug and a cool breeze

Fragile by Yes
Aug 24 2026

This just hits my brain as a series of musical phrases that I can't really assemble into anything meaningful. They get bonus points for the nice piano lines, though

Play by Moby
Aug 25 2026

Do I...like Moby? I think I do. So 90s. Shout-out to the movie Holes

Risque by CHIC
Aug 26 2026

No disco album will ever get less than 3 stars from me, and this is good solid disco. It's fun music-ified

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

Three powerhouse voices, lots of heart and soul, and the three-part harmonies kick ass

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Aug 28 2026

Arresting, tell-it-like-it-is, personal and political, in your face, feels very timely still. The only Cola I support is a C-O-L-A union cost of living adjustment!

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Aug 31 2026

I used to like this, but I think I've matured since then and realized there's more to life than indie rock. It gets three stars for the nostalgia though.

White Blood Cells by The White Stripes
Sep 01 2026

This is probably a personal problem, but I think the best song on rock albums is usually the folkiest one, and this album is no exception. And not just because it's in Napoleon Dynamite.

White Ladder by David Gray
Sep 02 2026

Heartfelt, earnest, and soft, if a bit bland. I am a sucker for a song about sailing away though (a surprisingly rich category). In the 90s I feel like they were really into having a fast beat in the background of an otherwise not fast song - what's that about?

Sep 03 2026

I was so caught off guard by the aggressive britishness that I can't even really be mad about this. Being a British teen must be hard stuff

Kid A by Radiohead
Sep 07 2026

Very vibes

The Cars by The Cars
Sep 08 2026

All the songs on this album sound the same to me, and they're fine I guess

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Sep 10 2026

What a relief after a string of horrible rock albums. Feels like floating on a wave

Ten by Pearl Jam
Sep 14 2026

I think the growly voice works here because he can also really belt it out when he needs to. I'm not mad about this
