Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by The Smashing Pumpkins
Aug 24 2026

Surprising range of styles. Instrumental opening, then alternative classic in Tonight Tonight followed by metal drums and baseline...drums on this album stand out. Tonight Tonight, Bullet with Butterfly Wings, 1979 all bring heavy mid 90's MTV nostalgia, great songs. Not a huge fan of Bill Corgan's vocals, though his voice in these songs is iconic. Besides the old hits nothing really stood out as amazing.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Aug 25 2026

Very busy and fast instrumentals throughout, surprised me a bit for Simon's softer voice and earlier work. The African mixed in was interesting, but most of this sounded like a version of Call Me Al - sing-talking fast to those instrumentals.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Aug 26 2026

Sounds like Layne Stanley sings harmony with himself, unique voice. Appreciate how hard it goes but can swing back and uses his vocals to sing softer stuff I didn't expect. I thought I'd like it - some songs felt a bit cliche but there's a couple gems in Rooster, Would, Down In a Hole...

Trio by Dolly Parton
Aug 27 2026

Dolly Parton died yesterday, and this album popped on my list this morning. The universe is speaking.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Aug 28 2026

Realized Deep Purple is so much more than just Smoke on the Water. Child in Time is great...has music ever changed so fast over a 10 year span than 1960-1970?

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Aug 30 2026

I have this album, mostly listened to Carey. It's such a unique song in how her voice dances through it. I like Joni's talent in writing and singing, but outside of Carey it was hard to get really engaged with the album.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Aug 30 2026

Not sure how this band was COMPLETELY off my radar. Didnt change my life but good, and the style and circles so similar to so much to what I like.

Parklife by Blur
Aug 31 2026

Exactly what I would expect walking into a London nightlife hub with live music in the early 1990s...the definition of Brit Pop. Some punk stuff, Beatles threads and that blaring British accent. Liked more than I thought I would!

Debut by Björk
Sep 01 2026

Bjork may well be an alien. Such a chaotic, beautiful, unique sound.

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Sep 02 2026

Vanilla jazz (mine should be NOLA brass or bossa nova) with some unremarkable 80s pop mixed in. Not my favorite

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Sep 03 2026

Funky George Clinton experiment.

Rising Above Bedlam by Jah Wobble's Invaders Of The Heart
Sep 04 2026

Might be what people on ayahuasca listen to?

Boston by Boston
Sep 05 2026

Awesome. Think i have 2 LPs of this album!

American Idiot by Green Day
Sep 08 2026

One of the best bands of the 90s, some classics on this album.

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams
Sep 09 2026

Little Bob Dylan vibes. Amy a pretty song...

The Infotainment Scan by The Fall
Sep 10 2026

I thought the guy's voice was a gimmick on the first song...nope. even when he actually does sing.

High Violet by The National
Sep 11 2026

Good, indie rock. Lead singer is so morose in most songs.

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Sep 13 2026

India meets James Bond and other interesting stuff. At times feels like it is a decade older than 78 release...

Blue Lines by Massive Attack
Sep 15 2026

Hard to tell how many people singing, and place the exact style. Some R&B / hip hop, some more soft pop... looked it up - trip hop.
