Great mix of his folky and bluesy tunes. Home to some bona fide classics. One of his best
I came late to Talking Heads after listening to Stop Making Sense not long ago. However, listening to Fear of Music apart from I Zimbra and Memories Can't Wait, very average.
I love Heaven and Life During Wartime on Stop Making Sense but on here they sound underwhelming in comparison
3 albums in, only knew a couple of their tunes before listening to this one so this one passed me by.
Most excellent. The guitar playing is phenomenal and I'll be definitely checking out more
A change of pace. Home to the fantastic Unfinished Sympathy, Blue Lines sounds simultaneously of its time and current. Timeless.
Heard of Steely Dan but never previously listened to them. The epitome of inoffensive 70s soft rock. You can't hate it but could I remember it an hour later? Nah.
Fantastic album, although I'm not a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, they influenced so many of my favourite bands and albums that followed. Siamese Dream starts brilliantly with Cherub Rock and follows with a real eclectic collection of tracks. A mixture of banging riffs, soaring melodies, incredible drumming. The production is fantastic throughout and I love the way the mood swings from track to track, sometimes within a single song. Love Disarm, Today, Rocket and Geek USA but every track brings something 5/5
A decent debut, much prefer Demon Days and Plastic Beach. A mixture of great (5/4, Tomorrow Comes Today, Clint Eastwood, 19-2000) and mediocre Bursting with ideas but not everything comes off.
For listening I'd rate 2, extra star as clearly influenced Nirvana and In n Out
Of Grace was great
Great album would have give it a 5 if a little shorter as runs out of steam near the end
Every track a soul classic. On first listen, I was thinking I preferred the better known versions of tracks like Respect, Satisfaction and My Girl but Otis's interpretations are fantastic, no weak songs
I must admit when saw the track lengths and starting listening I was ready to score low and move on. However, once I got into it, I really enjoyed this one, especially second time round. Excellent performance and musicianship from Hayes and his backing band, even thought the spoken word intro was great after my initial reservations. Will be definitely listening to this again after.
Prefer their debut, still ace guitars but the 80s production makes it sound pretty generic,, love Hot For Teacher
Like the production but every track sounds much the same, not good but not awful
Appreciate the quality, but not my cup of tea. I could easily enjoy a track or two but can't spend an hour
Great fun album, not every track lands but love Something For The Weekend, Becoming More Like Alfie and Father Ted theme Songs of Love.
Brilliant album. This was the first full Nick Cave album I listened to and been a huge fan since. Two different albums, Abbatoir Blues is big, bombastic. The Lyre of Orpheus is more laid back. Overall one their best
Fantastic energy, you can hear the influence on bands like The Stooges and many others.
Have Love Will Travel is the stand out but every track is great. Didn't realise they made them like this in 1965 3.5/5
From one of the first classic Garage Rock albums yesterday with The Sonics to one of the best ever with The Strokes.
Love this album, every track is a cracker. This Is It was a breath of fresh air in 2001 leading to countless imitators.
Better than I expected. Not something I would usually listen to, however his debut has some surprisingly good tracks especially Respect, Juicy
Otherworldly, love Loveless, some tracks go on a bit too long otherwise would rate 5
Don't.push.me as I'm close to the edge. The most unexpected record the week goes to The Message.
On top of the classic title track, great stuff from opener She's Fresh, Tom Tom Club sampling It's Nasty, Stevie Wonder tribute Dreamin through to the mashup of Adventures of Grandmaster Flash. Would of been a 5 but the cheesy You Are pulled it down but 4.5
Can understand why this album was admired by indie and alternative artists but I won't be listening to this one again. Little Hands and War In Peace decent
Their interpretation of Killing Me Softly is fantastic and elevates to 4 stars for me. Other highlights include Ready or Not, Zealots, Fu-Gee-La and Family Business
