Damn, love Shady and I forgot how violent this album is. And anti gay. And misogynistic. I can never figure out if satire, a joke, or real. Ground, even if maybe we leave that ground alone. Ultimately have to rate the art on what it says.
Starts with a great groove but dissolves later.
Impressive to make an album that I like nothing about. Not the music. Not the vibe. Not the vocals. Nothing.
Dude is definitely a lyric genius, but DAMN on the content. Just not for me.
The Stones are a mega group I’ve just never been able to get into. This album helps. Nothing on here I really love, and I really don’t like the last track. This will help me like the Stones a bit better. A bit.
Smooth as butter. Why have I not listened to this album before? The funky, chill rhythm just burns on every track and the horns add a great layer. This one is going in my saved bucket and may even show up on vinyl in my house. I couldn't wait for the Stones album to finish and I didn't want this one to end.
This has always been one of my top ten albums, and it still is. Disappointed to learn that he is a total douche, but the music and lyrics are both top notch.
I had no idea who this guy was. Now I wonder why that is because this is a pretty good album. It all ran together toward the end but there are some strong tracks throughout. Bummer that he died young.
Like it better than I expected but every song is the same.
Starts with a great groove but dissolves later.
Whaaaaaaaaaaat? Freddie’s Dead by Fishbone was a cover? World changing knowledge.
Solid Stones album. Not a lot of recognizable tracks for a non-fan, but I really liked this one. I expected not to. It is pretty darn long - didn't plan for that and it kinda turned into background music at some point.
Much better than I expected. This one will go into my rotation. I'm bummed that many of the ones I have liked the most are dead guys.
Have never been a big fan and this album confirms it. It's all ok, but just not my dudes.
Damn, love Shady and I forgot how violent this album is. And anti gay. And misogynistic. I can never figure out if satire, a joke, or real. Ground, even if maybe we leave that ground alone. Ultimately have to rate the art on what it says.
I’m pretty sure this album sucks to most people, and my memories listening to it were fantastic. Love this one!
Good for the background. Not for the foreground.
Please, no mas!
This was ok. Kinda my parents’ 50s music snuck into the 60s.
Better than I expected. Maybe early Rod Stewart is actually good Rod Stewart.
It’s okay. Always liked the Lou Reed vibe but this album not the best.
I guess I just don’t like noise. Maybe because I have kids?
It’s ok. Good to have on doing other things.
Poor man’s Duran Duran... and much better than I expected.
I’m embarrassed that I didn’t hate this one. And I knew more songs than I expected. My kids even liked it!
On its own, a really good album. I read up and dug into its history and it is the Citizen Cane of albums. So much happened based on this one. Takes it from 4 to 5 for me despite not being a Beatles fan.
Goofy French live album is a tough follow up to Sgt Pepper. Damn you random generator.
I really liked this one. Not my genre but like Isaac Hayes I learned maybe it is.
Unexpectedly like this one. Down on the beaches looking at the bitches rhymes though?
So I just learned I like Jamiroquai.
An amazing mix of good and horrible songs.
Kinda cool rock. Not sure why I haven’t heard of them before.
He’s having him some fun tonight. And damn that’s a lot of Little Richard songs.
This album was both loud and annoying. A few lyrics kept it from being a 1.
Liked this album more than I expected. Funny how dates the rap seems.
These guys are pretty good. I should listen to them a lot more. Seriously though, I dug into the history of this album and loved both the songs and the history.
Country music became a huge part of my music tastes over the last 10 years and Emmylou is among my faves. This album is on regular repeat in my house.
I saw these guys live in HS and remember liking them, unlike this album.
I enjoyed this one much more than I expected. Good vibe and good acoustic sound.
I was not familiar with this guy and really liked this, particularly on a sunny Sunday.
Impressive to make an album that I like nothing about. Not the music. Not the vibe. Not the vocals. Nothing.
The Smiths... so good when I’m happy and need to be reminded that life sucks. Actually enjoyed this flashback. Solid album.
Just when I thought there was nothing worse than the Iggy Pop album. Are negative numbers allowed?
My expectations were low. Very low. But this album cleared the bar with ease. Good album.
Haven’t really liked Elton, and enjoyed this album more than expected. A few throwaway songs but some great ones too.
Hanging out by the pool vibe. I like SD and this album is just ok.
Pretty good King Neil album. Lyrics and solos are great.
I spent summer 1985 on a farm in Israel. This album was the soundtrack (while not watching Live Aid). Will always have a special place in my music.
Strange album that I liked more than I expected. Kind of as background music though.
This one is a total burner and will go in my permanent rotation.
It's ok. Got a good beat. I can dance to it.
So perfect that this selection hit on a weekend. Strong album. He has better and this one is solid.
I was familiar with the first track, and surprised how good the rest of the album is.
There’s a reason they needed the long beard gimmick. Imma marking them up a point just for the quality of guitar work, which is the redeeming quality of this album, though not enough to ever make me listen to it again.
A new contender for album that most makes me want to end my life. Nothing like mental health issues laid out on vinyl. Second star just for bass.
Critics are just making up shit to like this album. Nirvana’s Nevermind before there was a Nirvana? Bullshit. This album may be deep, but it is unlistenable.
Ok, this was better than I expected. Maybe Tom Waits hurt so much that it lowered the bar.
Never been much of a fan. It's okay I guess. I knew some songs. Rest just kind of in the background.
Meh. My parents’ music and hard to look past the weird personal life.
I should listen to more Dylan. Great songs on this album including ones I didn’t know he wrote.
Meh. 2 stars goes up to 3 merely because of the coconut song.
Dude is definitely a lyric genius, but DAMN on the content. Just not for me.
Pretty much what I expected. Solid. Unique. And not my thing.
This was better than I expected. It is still absolutely awful. Just not as awful as I assumed.
Kinda thought I would know more songs on this one. Songs are OK.
Better than the last Neil album we had but still a pretty hard listen.
Sgt Pepper Beatles > early Beatles. Good album with some strong tracks. And not their best.
Guilty admission... singing meatloaf loudly like a Broadway showtune is a long time habit for which I’m seeing a specialist. It was never the same for me after his role in Fight Club. And this album doesn’t hold up well despite Paradise.
Nothing like ending a good week with Morrissey driving me to self harm. Actually a better album than I expected with a few very solid tracks.
Never heard of them. Another tragic death story. Damn glad I wasn’t an 80s musician. This is a surprisingly good album... white fishbone, some poor mans dead, a little REM, and a dash of the Clash.
Not something I would listen to if not for this program, and pretty happy that I did. It definitely expanded my horizon... enjoyable textured sounds that somehow sound ancient and modern at the same time. This also made me very hungry for the Himalayan restaurant on the downtown mall in Cville.
Reaction when this one popped up was “not now.” Reaction after listening was “not ever!” Now that we’ve listened to multiple Metallica albums I can say this is not their best and that is a very low bar.
Why have I never listened to this album in full. Simply outstanding from music to lyrics to overall vibe. Going in the keeper pile.
I have a soft spot for this album. In HS I played in a band that covered most of it. Made me love and hate it. Going with love now due to nostalgia.
Some strong tracks on here... and some weak ones. The Eagles are why greatest hit albums were invented. Overall a very strong album.
Never been a big follower of the boss, and I’m shocked never to have listened to this album end to end. He’s got a lot to say and does it well. Extremely good album across all tracks. Gonna buy this one on vinyl.
Damn, I did not expect this one to be this good. Knew almost every song and enjoyed every one. Great blues, even if a little self indulgent at times. You go CCR!
They used to perform live with their backs to the audience. Based on this album the audience should turn their backs on the band. Noise isn’t music.
Teach your children well... to listen to this CSNY album.
Are there different tracks or is this just one mediocre song repeated in other, worse forms?
Perhaps a groundbreaking band, but not a groundbreaking album. Good enough not to be bad.
Damn, so much better than I expected. Knew a few tracks but lyrics and beats across the whole album are great.
I think I should have heard of them? I haven't and maybe their influences are all known to me from others. But this album didn't move me.
