Who Killed...... The Zutons?
The ZutonsSome nice solid rock music, no complaints. I LOVE Zuton Fever, it sounds like some early King Gizzard jams. Jams all the way through, nothing I wouldn't happily listen to again.

- American Idiot: Banger, don't really love the f-slur but it's a product of its time. - Jesus of Suburbia: The GOAT, each part is so fun to sing and they're all so different but all fire. - Holiday: Another banger, very 2004-pilled politically but it's kinda based. - Boulevard of Broken Dreams: I defy anyone to not sing along to the chorus. - Are We the Waiting: Great one to sing along to, prepares me for the upcoming uptempo jam. - St. Jimmy: Has there ever been a "1,2,3,4!" that went harder? - Give Me Novacaine: I'm not normally an emo guy but I feel this song, maybe due to nostalgia but we ball. - She's a Rebel: Not an extreme banger but but fun to sing and pretty catchy melody. - Extraordinary Girl: Pretty interesting musically but I feel like it's not as fun to sing along to and this album really lends itself to singing along. - Letterbomb: I really like this song but I honestly never listen to it because I have to listen to Extraordinary Girl and the weird mean nursery rhyme thing. - Wake Me up When September Ends: I still like this song but I think I've heard it too many times. I used to love it but now I feel it's kinda just a nothing song like it shouldn't even be around in the area. - Homecoming: Another banger, I think I'm still taking JoS over this but it's close. - Whatsername: Nice little ditty to close out the album, not my favorite but it's nice.
- Sunday Bloody Sunday: I like this song but not enough to listen to it of my own accord. The chorus is catchy but the rest of the song just kinda feels... off? - Seconds: This song doesn't really go anywhere, the bassline is kinda cool but nothing really happens (except that weird interlude thing). It feels like a filler song. - New Year's Day: This might be my favorite song on the album, I love the cool guitar effects. Even though I'm not a Bono guy I think his voice fits this song. - Like A Song...: This is most U2 songs for me, it's listenable and has some interesting guitar stuff going on but doesn't really sound distinct and I don't feel the need to listen to it again. - Drowning Man: Same exact notes as for Like A Song... - The Refugee: What's up with Bono making those grunt singing noises? - Two Hearts Beat As One: I like the bass and guitar parts a lot, I don't know what it is about Bono but when he starts singing I just lose interest a bit. - Red Light: The trumpet was a nice addition. I feel like throughout the album I've come to realize that Adam Clayton is the MVP of U2. My man is HOLDING IT DOWN on the low end, he doesn't try to be all showy with guitar effects or singing high notes that are just a bit out of his range. He just has his bassline and he nails it throughout the whole song. - Surrender: This kinda feels like a Talking Heads song but with the coolness knob dialed back a bit. Still a decent song though. - "40": I wouldn't be surprised if this was a song they added to just fill time on the record. Really cool bass part but the rest is kinda just nothing. The lyrics are literally "How long to sing this song?" My theory is it's called "40" because they needed the album to be over 40 minutes and this song put them over the threshold.
- Rich: Pretty cool song, I really love that intro riff. - Date With The Night: I think this would go a lot harder if I wasn't in the middle of a workday. It's a very specific chaotic vibe that I don't often embody. - Man: this song goes so hard I love the hard rock vibes plus the effects craziness - Tick: I think Karen O's vocals can be a bit much for me at times. Not disrespecting Ms. O but I think it's not in my Q zone. It's fun to listen to but it's definitely a lot. - Black Tongue: Pretty cool punky song, nothing much else to say about this one. - Pin: Not gonna lie no idea what she's talking about but it sounds cool. - Cold Light: Another one where I would love this in an Underground Arts kinda environment but listening in my bedroom during a workday doesn't produce the same vibes. - No No No: Easily my favorite song title on the album. I also really like the song, the part when it kicks into the heavy hits with the distortion on and it does that cool Black Sabbath breakdown thing goes so hard. - Maps: Not a bad song but doesn't go as hard as some of the other ones. - Y Control: I love the spacy guitar part. It kinda got repetitive at the end but overall good song. - Modern Romance: I feel like this is a good meditation song it's very droney and simple but pretty melodies. - Poor Song: Nice slow song to close out the album, I think it's a bit too slow for my current vibe but it's got some decent stuff going on.
I was a fool and didn't save my notes so no individual song notes but this album rips. Lots of classic dance tunes, love some boogie and shuffle blues. My man could SING as well he was hitting high notes that had no business being around in the area. This album makes me feel like I'm in a 50s high school dance and that's a good thing, I would be twistin' the night away if I was there. A lot of these songs sound like the templates that future rock and roll songs were based upon.
This is a really cool album, to me it has a modern shoegazey Beatles kinda vibe. Very psychedelic at times but also some jams. I'm also reading up on Elliot Smith and not saying his girlfriend killed him but I'm not NOT saying that......
I love some Tom Waits, it feels like if steampunk was a music genre. It isn't something I'd want to listen to everyday but from time to time I get down with the weird vocals and gritty music.
I'm honestly not sure how I feel about this album. I don't dislike it, it's definitely listenable, but I don't think it's for me. It sounds very English, like it has that sound where you can tell he listened to David Bowie growing up and wanted to make a more modern sounding kinda thing. None of the songs are bad like I really wouldn't mind listening to them again they just kinda don't hit for me at all.
What a funky album. I like later more pop sounding Cure music but early Cure is where it's at. Very weird and psychedelic but still new wavey. A Forest goes really hard. Not sure why but this album gives me big sci-fi vibes like this would go well in the Matrix soundtrack or something like that.
A classic. It rocks, it rolls, not much else to say. I think if I was a teenager in 1994's England this would easily be among my favorite albums of all time, but I'm just a different demographic. I never noticed how Liam Gallagher says MAYBEEYYYY in Live Forever the same way as he says it in Wonderwall.
The bluesiest organ music of all time, love it. Jimmy Smith always eats I don't think I've heard a single song of his that didn't go hard. I'm a sucker for an organ though, if an organ is present in a song I turn up regardless.
Maybe the coolest album ever released, what else can you say? Feels like I'm in a dimly lit smoky room with a 2 drink minimum that smells like cigars and musty wood, how much cooler can you get? Of course you have Miles doing his thing but I don't often listen to the more arranged tunes with the whole horn section instead of just the 4 or 5 dudes. It's good stuff.
I've never heard this album before and it rips! I love how psychedelic it is but still has that heavy krautrock thing going on. Particularly the bass was really cool, a lot of it was hypnotic in how repetitive but driving it was.
No disrespect towards this album for me but I think it's a one and done. Nothing really enraptured me, it was all pretty good sweet songs but except for very specific circumstances I can't see myself throwing this album on again. She's a great singer though, definitely pleasant to listen to but nothing that had me going ~ooh okay~.
A pretty good album but in my opinion Little Richard still stays winning for this early rock and roll boogie blues vibe. I like how he sings though he just GOES for it.
Classic jazz. Thelonious Monk can get pretty off the map during his solos and it's cool to listen to but I think it can get a little too out there at times. I love the rhythmic variations in the title track though, it felt very locked in when it changed. Max Roach holding it down as always.
This is such a cool album. To me it feels like a slightly heavier Tally Hall vibe, very weird and fun and unique songs. Receptacle for the Respectable goes CRAZY.
I've somehow never heard of these dudes but come on they're called the Flamin' Groovies how could this not go hard. Nothing really stands out to me but it's all solid blues rock all the way through, I could easily listen to this album any day of the week.
Hell yeah some grime. I don't listen to grime often but every so often when it comes on it's some good stuff. It's kinda hard to dance to which is why it's not in my normal Q zone but I still get down with it.
Okay yeah Tiny Dancer and Levon are bangers don't get me wrong (obviously you have to sing the chorus of Tiny Dancer) but RAZOR FACE. Rick Wakeman always eats. And the HARMONIES. I really like Rotten Peaches as well, not as catchy as some other Elton songs but goes hard nonetheless. Rest of the album is pretty decent.
Pretty much the GOAT. Funky, psychedelic, super danceable. What else would I want from an album honestly.
This is fire, I love the beats and she has a crazy flow! I love how she starts and stops her vocals in Offence. Boss goes so hard: "At 23 sold dreams to my side / see God when you look me in my eyes" YO! Venom is insane! Hardest line on the album: "I'll just keep it real, truth won't be concealed / Please don't listen to this and ask me if I'm hurtin' or if I'm okay / Allow me to be human and be in my feels / Chill, I'm good, I got it / I never lost it / Or am I just lying to myself to skip the topic?"
Some sweet melancholy blues, nothin wrong with that. It's pretty enjoyable and sometimes relaxing to listen to, I could see myself listening to this again if I ever really crave some Americana blues.
IMO this is mid Radiohead. Not on the same level as OK Computer but I like it a lot better than Kid A.
Incredible album. It feels very earnest and genuine, it's political and socially conscious without being preachy which I think is pretty hard to do. Plus she's a great singer. Fast Car is a masterpiece.
Eh it's not bad but not my favorite. It has a nice sound but doesn't really go anywhere like the whole thing is slow sad songs. Not for me.
This was definitely an interesting one, I don't think I liked it enough to listen to it again but it was weird and psychedelic enough that it was fun to listen to it the first time. Alifib was really cool. I think if I was tripping this would absolutely destroy me but being sober during a workday it just doesn't hit the same.
The title really built this one up but it was honestly pretty underwhelming. It wasn't bad it just felt like a straight, less good Orville Peck. I liked Too Many Birds, Faith/Void was by far my least favorite the whole song is 10 minutes and it's literally the same thing over and over again.
Very cool album, a lot of quirky samples and lyrics so it's fun to listen to all the way through. I could definitely see myself coming back to it if I wanted to just chill and listen to goofy music.
I can see the appeal of this album for hard industrial enjoyers but it's just not for me. Some really interesting sounds going on that I appreciate, but I can't see myself jamming to this album.
Banger. Classic Yes. IMO not as majestic as Close to the Edge or Fragile but this is definitely up there in the Yes tier list.
Judge me if you want but this goes hard. Brings back a lot of nostalgia for making fun of Crawling but you know what it's a fun song.
Man I'm really just not a post-punk marty. It's decent and if I was a teenager who didn't get along with my parents I could see myself raging to this but the whole extremely compressed and distorted vocal thing just doesn't do it for me. Like bro what are you saying?
This is another one where for me it was cool to listen to it the first time since it has a unique sound, but I can't see myself listening to it again. Nothing against the music itself, just really not my thing. PJ Harvey is a great singer though she has a perfect voice for this kinda of music.
I mean it's the GOAT. Nothing much else more to say. One of the few albums where it feels more like a complete work of art than just a collection of songs.
Doesn't get much better than this, peak Duane Allman. Classic blues, had a stank face going for all 78 minutes.
It's Britpop, it's decent. It has a cool vibe to it but it's not the kinda thing I'd listen to regularly. Some of the songs go hard but it's hard to dance and groove to them, they're more punky and all downbeats which is not my bag baby. Still fun to listen to I like the surf rock kinda vibes some of the songs have. And I love The Debt Collector and Lot 105, very out of place but in a great way. Overall I enjoyed it, don't think any songs will be thrown on again intentionally except maybe The Debt Collector or Lot 105.
Oooh this apparently has Phil Maznanera AND Brian Eno on it. I love all the saxophone and oboe weirdness, very cool album. My man Mr. Eno does not miss he has that Midas touch with the albums he's on. This album feels like if King Crimson and David Bowie had a child but the child was born in the year 2123.
This album is so cool! It's like if Mitski was in a Disney movie. And of course Tom Waits. It feels very dramatic and showey like it's part of a gritty broadway musical, I'm here for it.
I mean it's hard to dislike Elvis. I definitely prefer the originals for most of the songs but he's so iconic it's hard to not dance. If I was in the suburbs in the 50s and I hadn't heard blues music ever this would blow my fuckin mind. I would like I Got a Woman a lot more if it didn't have the last verse lol.
This is a GROOVE. Absolutely love it. Great rhythms and guitar tones and just a cool sounding album.
I liked it, it was pretty and had a good vibe to it. Not my favorite bossa nova of all time, I feel like there wasn't anything that hit me with the WOW aside from Bananeira. I'd listen again though it's pretty chill.
Some nice solid rock music, no complaints. I LOVE Zuton Fever, it sounds like some early King Gizzard jams. Jams all the way through, nothing I wouldn't happily listen to again.
The king. Incredible soul music. Apparently RCA held off on releasing this recording because it was "too loud, raw and raucous – not the Cooke the label was trying to break as an international pop star". WHAT? Who was the RCA head dude at the time I just wanna talk. They deadass said it was too soulful to release. Throw some respect on Gregg Geller, my man found the recording and immediately released it.
A classic. Love some Amy every once in a while, her music has such a unique groove. She's also a great vocalist, just an all around banger.
The PIONEERS of psychedelic rock, such a cool sound. I love the difference between the Beatles pre and post LSD. They went from pop heartthrob boy band to playing experimental psychedelic sitar music in like 2 years. Imagine the Beatles fans in 1966 expecting Drive My Car or Paperback Writer and you listen to Tomorrow Never Knows.
Hell yeah give me the grunge. I love how all 90s grunge bands sing in the exact same voice. The harmonized vocals are pretty cool. I like how sludgy the album feels, idk if that's the right word but it feels very thick ya know? Like you have to wade through the sound it doesn't just wash over you. Am I cooking or does this not make any sense?
Groovy glam jams. Very relistenable, I think I slept on Iggy before but I am coming around to Mr. Pop.
What an incredible album! I really wish the Europeans weren't such dickheads to Africa so that their music and culture could flourish a lot more, it's so unique and beautiful. The rhythms are so fun it feels like it was made to be danced to. And to me the harmonies sound very spiritual, not sure if they're meant to be or if that's just how I perceive them based on my cultural experiences but either way they're fire.
Nice relaxing vibes for a rainy Friday morning. Nothing that's really a banger so I don't see myself throwing these songs on by myself but I'll always be content listening to some Nora.
Some all time bangers on this album and also some mids, nothing bad. In terms of Zeppelin albums I don't think it's my favorite but Since I've Been Loving You goes incredibly hard. Will definitely listen again, nothing beats that aaaaAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAh!
I was never really a Motörhead marty, it goes hard but I don't think it's for me. It's one of those where I enjoy listening to it but I don't really have any desire to listen again when I'm done.
Honestly this is just not for me. I didn't hate it but something about Wayne Coyne's singing just does not do it for me. And the instrumentals were interesting at times but nothing really struck me, don't think I'll ever come back to this one.
I mean like it's fine. Suspicious Minds slaps but for me the rest of the album is just Elvismusic. Like it's listenable but I'd rather be listening to other music ya know what I mean lol.
Incredible lyricism, the whole album feels very real and from the heart. An all time classic.
Funky, spacey, groovy, every good adjective about music. The goat. Eddie Hazel can TEAR UP the guitar dude he goes so crazy.
I liked it, I wasn't very blown away but there were definitely some cool sounding songs. I think I may come back to this at some point but nothing really grabbed me.
Pretty fun classic English punk. I could just tell the genre based on the album cover lol and they did not disappoint, it went pretty hard and had some fun songs.
This album is so cool! I love the funky bass and the weird vocals, this is definitely unique in the best way. I'll definitely be returning to some of these jams, particularly In My Mind and Time With You.
An all time classic, I love how the prisoners boo the officers when they make announcements lol. Really beautiful songs, no one does it like Mr. Cash.
Great dad rock album, nothing extremely poppin for me but solid jams all the way through.
Pretty cool album, I think I prefer the first side but the second side is still interesting. I definitely haven't listened to enough krautrock I'm definitely gonna explore some more.
A couple bangers on this album but this is simply too much music. Maybe if you're a Smashing Pumpkins stan you would rage for this album but like at least 20 of these songs could be removed and it would be a good album. And I really don't mean to be judgmental because I really do like some of these songs but 2 hours is a long time to listen to Billy Corgan's voice. It's the first and hopefully only DNF for me.
Pretty decent, nothing really grabbed me but listenable.
You know what even though I prefer the Genesis Peter Gabriel where he would play crazy flute solos and sing about overthrowing the powers that be I still really like this album. It's really catchy and interesting music that sounds a lot different from his earlier stuff but in a good way. And I love the world music influence, my man L. Shankar showing up is an unexpected delight.
Nonstop bangers.
A couple of really great songs, I love their flow. Nothing bad at all, all around jams.
Couple great songs and a lot of meh songs. Love the Scientist and Amsterdam but I could take or leave the rest.
The only thing I don't like about this album is that it isn't on Spotify. 10/10.
Okay yeah John Coltrane cooks we all can agree but MCCOY TYNER! My man plays chords I didn't even know existed on this record he is the nutrient-rich soil upon which Coltrane can sprout. Great album, very emotional and interesting.
Exceptionally sexy and groovy, the best to ever do it.
Eh it's decent, some cool ideas but nothing really stood out.
Thought it was decent, don't really have many more notes than that.
I like listening to most of these songs in isolation but a full album at a time kinda gets repetitive, I know they kinda defined the 80s synth rock sound but I mean come on it's a lot of the same lol. Still a couple bangers though.
Honestly a bit disappointed by this one, I like Curtis Mayfield and there were some great grooves but a lot of it felt the same and didn't really excite my funky soul if you know what I mean.
All time classic, banger after banger.
Goes kinda hard, didn't think there were any extreme bangers but solid all the way through.
I really respect this album but it's just not for me. There are some really cool and heavy instrumental parts and there's clearly a lot of emotion going on but I think I love my parents too much to fuck with this album. No disrespect just not for me.
Absolutely lovely music. The GOAT. No complaints.
Really fun to dance to
Bangers all the way through.
Great harmonies, no standouts but all solid tunes.
Not generally my type of music but I had some fun listening to it.
I think I would like it more if he wasn't a piece of shit but it's still some good jams.
Super groovy, great album
Some all time bangers but a lot of what feel like filler songs.
Really not my cup of tea. Freak On a Leash is kinda funny but the album is hard to dance to and overall just sounds angry, not my vibe at all.
Super soulful and beautiful sound, no complaints.
All around great vibes
Kinda upset I had my shitty work headphones on for this one, I feel like I missed out on the production of it. Regardless I love this album, super cool psychedelic folk feel.
Hell yeah gnarly blues rock. Just hits right.
Pretty decent bangers.
It's pretty decent but it just doesn't have the sauce of the earlier stuff.
It's kinda cool but it isn't really my vibe, very spooky and heavy vibes.
I'm not going to listen to this because I really don't want to support Kanye but this is objectively a really good album.
Not my typical style of music, I respect it but it's a bit too melancholy for me. She's a great singer and had some good lyrics though.
A lot of the songs felt like they would kinda just like drag on. Some cool sounds but overall I wasn't really feeling it.
Man I think Thin Lizzy is so slept on all of these songs are bangers. Nothing hits the same as when Phil goes DONTBELIVEITDONTBELIEVEITDONTBELIEVEIT.
Some deep grooves, very fun to listen to.
