Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Aug 27 2023

Well, it was better than Justified. I wouldn't listen to it again, but I didn't hate it. It reminds me of when I was listening to bands that were playing at the Family Values tour, back when I was in middle school. But like then, I prefer the other bands to Linkin Park, and their albums to this album.

Casanova by The Divine Comedy
Sep 03 2023

I gave it more than one star because it was at least well done, but...topically this was uninteresting, and I just didn't enjoy him vocally.

The White Album by Beatles
Sep 05 2023

Not my favorite Beatles album, but it still has some absolute gems on it.

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Sep 09 2023

Zappa is a master at his craft and he shines on this album, especially Son of Mr. Green Genes. From the first note I was transported to a muddy field, with the scents of skunk and nag champa wafting to my nose while people dance with hula hoops and batons. As the album progresses he leans heavily on the jazz influences of jam music. Captain Beefheart brings the beginning down a little--I'm not a fan of his voice or style. But overall, a very excellent album.

69 Love Songs by The Magnetic Fields

WOW. I didn't know what I was getting myself into, but this is truly spectacular music. Super groovy, and you just want to keep listening. Way too short!

Autobahn by Kraftwerk

This was a snooze fest.

Horses by Patti Smith
Oct 02 2023

It's punk, it's rock, it's reggae, it's Patti Smith. Definite Velvet Underground vibes here.

Buena Vista Social Club by Buena Vista Social Club

Great background music. Will be a repeat listen. The group is tight and the music is smooth.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Oct 14 2023

Look, I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers something fierce, and I love this album. Ive listened to it more than any other album my entire life and I can quote all the lyrics. But it has two flaws. First, Anthony Kiedis. While I enjoy his musical style, lyrically he often falls flat. I find what he has to say and how he says it entirely unengaging. I didn't connect with it in my youth, and I certainly don't now as a nearly 40 year old mother. Second, these tracks really could have been pared down. Sir Psycho Sexy just isn't neccesary--there is next to nothing good about the song. I always skip it when listening to the album. Otherwise, the band is full of amazing talent, I love the funky style, and I still appreciate them in their moments of introspection. Overall, I give it a 4.5/5. Definitely their best album.
