...The Dandy Warhols Come Down
The Dandy WarholsMid. But it's got spirit.
Mid. But it's got spirit.
It's a pretty hectic album. I liked it but it made me feel funny and I needed to sit down for a while after listening to it.
What in the west Texas hell is this
Strong start with Beauty and the Beast. Best song is obviously Heroes. But whatever.
It's okay I guess. Nothing made me feel particularly like it was the most interesting or useful album that Radiohead have done.
A relatively short outing. I think I liked it more than I expected to. I think this record has had more influence on Australian indie rock than I would have expected given there's a lot of bands getting play on JJJ that sound like this.
Absolutely not my flavour. God bless Trent for being as angry as he was though.
I like this one. Shivering and anxious but abundantly melodic. Slow in places but not unbearably so
It was okay. It wasn't particularly interesting. By the album cover I thought it'd be jazz or something
Realistically, I think Gang of Youths did this album better with go farther in lightness. I had to turn this one off
Bittersweet Symphony remains an absolute banger. Rest of the album is trash
It's pretty blocky. I don't love it. Mercifully short
Mid. But it's got spirit.
This actually goes pretty hard. I really enjoyed this album
It's a pretty hectic album. I liked it but it made me feel funny and I needed to sit down for a while after listening to it.
If I like an album I tend to turn it up. This got turned up. Awww yeah
Again, this probably isn't my bag. But it's well made and the instrumentation is solid. It's obviously influenced a lot of other rock and blues music since it was made. But again. Not my bag.
This album really my little sense to me. I felt Marley's pain , his acute sense of loss, the sentiment of a man who was trying to see the best in the world despite being in a very dark space. Of the albums of listened to so far, I've turned off most of them. This one? Back to back. A true talent and a masterpiece of an album
I literally didn't notice when this album finished. Boring af
I like some of the songs but a bit meh. Very angsty.
How fuckin long is this thing. Jesus. It's good, but Christ they keep going
Not really my vibe but cool stuff.
Classic. Not my bag
I think what's more interesting than the story that this album tells is the story that is told in the reviews for this album. After I finished listening to this again, I went through and had a look at the reviews that other people had written. You all are telling on yourselves! I think it's really interesting that every single one of the reviews that is one star for this have the stodgiest old white man music up as their top 10, five favorite best artist, etc. I don't like the fucking doors but I'm still going to listen to it and appreciate it in the context that it's given to me in. Everyone who got on high horses saying, 'how can you listen to 'my dick get big as the Eiffel Tower' and be like that's a good lyric". What? It's a fantastic lyric. of course it's braggadocio. Course it's offensive. It's supposed to be from the perspective of a juvenile person who doesn't know how to act and has learned how to live from an ill-conceived popular notion that is negatively impacting their life. That's the point of this album. And it absolutely slaps while it's having that conversation. Everyone who gave this one star missed the point Thanks for coming to my ted talk. P.S. this is one of the best albums of the 2010s
A remarkable album
I'd never heard of this mob before. 100% 80s but again, as with many albums on the rating list I think this inspired a lot of other stuff that I listen to a lot of. Very cool and mercifully short.
Cool album. OG jazz rap. Very scuffed but a cool record underneath. The De La Soul on this album is pretty different to the De La Soul on Feel Good Inc that defined a section of my youth. Still respect the fuck outta this album.
Ah. Childhood. I think again this one had an enormous impact on Australian music. Stuff like client liaison ran after this one like a dog after a ball. I recall this being absolutely everywhere in 2007/2008. And by this one I mean electric feel, kids and time to pretend. The rest of the album is forgettable as. Overall, this is American college kids doing Jamiroquai. It's not bad. It's just less imaginative than it should be
Sounds like knock-off Beatles? Listening further I was pleasantly surprised. This is a good album. It's got a pleasant character and a lot of it sounds pleasantly modern. Lots of Mac Demarco in here, lots of King Gizz, lots of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, lots of Whitney, lots of the Strokes. It's good shit. Well worth a listen.
This one opened weird. Got sad.
By all accounts. I feel like I should like this quite a lot. But. It's not really doing it for me. DRs later stuff is much more up my alley. This carnival ride is still quite a lot of fun though
So, this is like the sequel to the village green preservation society? This is good. Funky and witty and mean at points. It's got a flair for the dramatic and it's shaken off the stodgy music hall element that made village green a bit difficult to listen to. It's like Monty Python. It's weird and it changes repeatedly and it's sweet in an odd kind of way. 4.5/5. Strong album.
I mean. It's Neil Young with Crosby Stills.and Nash. What'd you expect?
A blueprint for indie music in 2007. It's... Alright I guess?
This is OG U2. It sounded fresh in 2004 when I listened to it in 2003 as a kid. It still sounds fresh in 2023.
I don't even need to listen to this one again. I would give it five stars The reason that I'm not giving it five stars is, one time when I was in high school there was a talent show. The only thing that I had a reasonable grasp of on the guitar was Wonderwall. Of course, I decided to play Wonderwall. It was the most appalling shit I have ever had to be a part of. Why I decided to even enter is a mystery. Fuck you Noel Gallagher. It's your fault I got bullied.
Didn't grab me
Not really my Jam.
This is pretty plain. The kings of leon have two songs that are kinda hot, and those two are from 5 years later. This is just... The American equivalent of Powderfinger, and not as good
Damn. Funky.
Didn't jump out and grab me
What is post punk
Yuck
What in the west Texas hell is this
Long as fk
Short and sweet.
Leave Reggatta to its original owners pls
No wonder I've never heard of these lads. Truly awful stuff
I actually had a bit of trouble finding this album because Joni's still not back on Spotify. Because of notable idiot Joe Rogan apparently. This album gives roots to artists like Aldous Harding and Big thief. She's very good. The musicianship on this is incredible as well. It's such an easy album to listen to. Also, Lou Reed wishes Berlin was half as good as this.
Bohemian Rhapsody? Instant 5 Car Song? Instant 1. I'll give it a 3 and be done with it.
This is the most boomer album I've ever listened to. It's musically fine. It's just written and performed for people who existed 60 years who didn't die before they got old. They're all old now. And they own everything.
This album is a lot of fun.
Good god there's a lot of punk on this list. Yuck.
It's really odd, but I've just realized I've only listened to 1 Oasis album. I'm not sure why that is, because I really liked the one I listened to (the one with all the hits) This slaps. I was about 3 months old when this came out, but I think I would have been better off if I'd started with this album rather than Morning Glory.
I know this is meant to be a really good album but it's not mega interesting to me tbh. It's just unpolished and Cobain was a mediocre lyricist and singer at best.
It's mid
Not sure why this isn't on Spotify. Absolutely bangin. G Clinton makes some wild fuckin music
Weird little noises: the album Hot garbage 0/5
Short sharp and full to the brim of hits. Not a fan but it's a dope album
Another mid tier funk album. It's good.
Funk rock is a pretty unique sound. Very cool though.
It's not actually as good as I remember it being.
"Sign 'O' The Times" by Prince - diverse, innovative, but a bit long and all over the place. Standouts: "Sign 'O' The Times," "U Got the Look." Rating: 3.5/5 stars.
Rock and roll dude 😎
Country music is fuckin shithouse
This album upset my dog. 5 stars.
Such a good album. Packed full of great licks and big tunes. Love it.
Ella can sing incredibly well. But this album isn't something I'd listen to more than once.
Oh, this is the American version of slim dusty. I get it
Interesting but very hard to find.
As others have said the two mega hits carry this one. But my oh my do they carry this.
Pretty good for a Christmas album
Solidly nostalgic and packed with hits. For whatever reason I'd never heard the first track. That one takes a star off tho. Yikes.
If yesterday's album sounded like the 70s to me, this sounds like the 80s. Wild. Hungry like the Wolf is something that would again often play during my childhood. Overall, getting a closer look at the rest of the songs aside from the hits has not endeared me to the band or album.
We're all sacks of meat with Electricity in it. Dance, meat sack.
Helicopter music 🚁
I think this is actually better for not having Clapton in it. But it's worse for not having page. Beck's alright. 3 stars.
Hasn't got a lot of the hits but damn. A lotta talent went into this album.
Ah man it's pretty good I guess
This is good
Fun little album. Interesting.
