Faust IV
FaustNot my jam. I’ve gone on the record many times saying I don’t like extra long songs, and generally speaking, lyrics are what sell me on a song. So… this album didn’t do much for me personally.

I'm not a reggae fan, so my listening experience was impacted by that and plays into my score. It's just not my taste! Still, the themes and messages of this album are excellent. There's no denying that Exodus will stand the test of time.
There are some real bangers on here. Found myself groovin even when the lyrics weren't quite hitting. Just a solid listen overall, and it did make me wanna hear more from The Replacements.
He put his entire Billy Joelussy into this one, what more can I say.
Wasn’t sure what to expect with this album but was pleasantly surprised! It is laid-back but also full of energy. If you told me this was released in 1964 before I looked it up I wouldn’t have believed you; it feels so fresh. I especially enjoyed the tracks with Astrud Gilberto—her voice is stunning.
Should I bully my parents and grandparents for not getting me into Bob Dylan sooner yes or yes
This is my first time hearing anything from Hole, and on the whole (see what I did there), I had a good time listening to this album. I really enjoyed the music (I'm an alt rock fan though, so that tracks), but I think I enjoyed the themes/messages of the album more than the actual lyrical execution, if that makes sense.
It’s a 3.5 for me personally but that’s not an option so it gets 4 stars A) for how much I enjoy “The Magic Number” and B) because I can see how influential this album would’ve been
Definitely unlike anything I’ve ever heard before. I enjoyed it, but… you know that saying “there’s so much movie in this movie?” Yeah, I felt that way about this album. There was SO MUCH music in this music, to the point where it was overwhelming to listen to after a while.
Some interesting things going on lyrically, and sonically as well (for better or for worse), but I was definitely not a fan of the vocal performance(s)
Really enjoyed the story this album told and the music throughout; I've never been so relieved to hear Pinball Wizard in my entire life though. Whew.
I already knew three songs off this album, all three of which I really love. And then, to my surprise, the rest of the album was JUST AS GOOD. Perfection. Chef's kiss.
Definitely outside my taste, but at times I felt like I was listening to a musical, which helped keep me engaged. I also think there was some truly excellent lyricism on this album. I was more drawn to the songs in the middle than the ones at the beginning and end though.
Enjoyed a good bit of the music/instrumentation but wasn't impressed with the lyrics throughout. I think 2-3 songs stood out to me. Don't get me wrong, I can understand why people would like it, but ultimately it just wasn't for me.
Love how theatrical this album is—both musically and vocally. Ridiculously long songs often drive me crazy, but I didn’t mind it so much with this album, which says a lot! Long live Meat Loaf 🫡
Didn’t expect to rate an album one star when I started doing this project, but here we are. I was bored throughout. I had to stop listening after several songs and force myself to finish it later. If nothing else, at least I now know that I really don’t like shoegaze.
The only thing I knew about Marilyn Manson going into this album was that I never want to be alone in a room with the guy. Honestly, I dug a good bit of the music side of things, but I honestly can’t stand MM’s vocal performance on basically any song. I had to stop and start the album multiple times because of it.
Pretty solid album with a couple of real bangers. l enjoyed the music side of things more than the lyrics or vocal performances though
This was a fine listen. I wasn't overly impressed but I didn't hate it. I'm not a fan of ridiculously long songs, so that definitely impacted my listening experience. There were three songs I liked more than the rest, and (surprise surprise) those were three of the shortest songs on the album.
Really fun listen; I love the energy, emotion, and passion in the performance. I think my experience was enhanced from it being a live album.
Quite enjoyed this album; I listened to it on a drive and never once felt the urge to skip a song. It's nothing groundbreaking to me, but a solid listen nonetheless.
Ridiculously good album. Contains several bangers, anti-war messaging, and an awesome punk/pop/alt rock sound. It’s no wonder why this album is so loved.
Not my jam. I’ve gone on the record many times saying I don’t like extra long songs, and generally speaking, lyrics are what sell me on a song. So… this album didn’t do much for me personally.
A fun, folksy listen. Old Kentucky Home was a banger. Loved that most of the songs were under 4 minutes long. Didn't strike me as groundbreaking but I did enjoy it.
Loved the writing on this album as well as the sound. There were quite a few standout songs for me, and even the ones that weren't were still really good. I'm rather delighted by this album.
Really cool, varied sound. Will definitely listen to more from Screaming Trees
Green Day is just so good man
Maaaaan. I wish I liked this album. I’m just not an industrial fan. The sound really ruined it for me. Lyrics/vocals were decent but I was honestly glad when it was over. Please forgive me for this rating.
Not gonna lie, I was kinda relieved when it was over. This was just not my vibe. I'll chalk it up to my basic ass taste over the album being genuinely terrible though.
I've tried listening to the Talking Heads several times and never enjoyed their stuff. I thought this album might be different... it was not. I just cannot get past David Byrne's jerky vocals. It's grating to me. Respect to all those who do love the Talking Heads though.
Rating solely based on vibes
I couldn’t even listen to this thing in full; I had to skip ahead several times. Also, one almost 8-minute “song” of feedback is insane. It’s a no from me.
I love country music, and I love Dolly Parton. Easiest five stars for me yet.
This was really cool. Definitely not something I’d normally listen to, and maybe that is why it kinda ran together after a while. But still, I quite enjoyed it.
Honestly would’ve been a five if it was about 20 minutes shorter. A bit *too* much of a good thing.
Enjoyed this one a lot, but as with many other albums on this list, I do wish it was shorter.
I’m not a metal fan so this was kinda hard to get through. I enjoyed parts of it. I much prefer the black album, and I gave it a 4, so this one is getting a 3. Does it objectively deserve better than a 3? Probably. But, personally, it’s just not my cup of tea.
Really solid; not totally my taste and it’s longer than I’d prefer, but I liked it a lot.
Lovely from start to finish. Crazy how many of these are still played on the radio each year.
Really loved the sound of this album but I cannot tell you a single word that was sung
