Two Doves - 8.2 - Again, this is great, creative indie pop. I don't know why they decided to start with something so terrible. 6. Useful Chamber - 8.5 - a bit too long, I see the vision. "Bitte Orca" part goes hard 7. No Intention - 7.4 - feels more standard. not as experimental as previous three good songs. 8. Remade Horizon - 8.8 - holy shit, great song. 9. Fluorescent Half Dome - 6.8 - eh. feel like they returned to the beginning of the album.

Jan 11 2024

1. These Important Years - 7.1 - feels like it should be in the background of a high-school coming of age story. 2. Charity, Chastity, Prudence, and Hope - 6.2 - nothing special, and very repetitive. 3. Standing in the Rain - 7.6 - great sound effects and the lyrics are more manageable on this track 4. Back from Somewhere - 6.8 - better vocals, but the mix feels muddy. lyrics are good. 5. Ice Cold ice - 8.5 - love the vocals. love the guitar. 6. You're a Soldier - 5.3 - boring. repetitive. forgettable. 7. Could You Be the One? - 8.4 - like the instrumentation and lyricism on this one. 8. Too Much Spice - 5.0 - this sounds like every song ever. boring and absolutely no innovation. 9. Friend, You've Got to Fall - 7.7 - great lyrics. besides that, sound like everything else on this album. 10. Visionary - 6.1 - at least this one is distinct. Not necessarily good, but distinct. 11. She Floated Away - 7.6 - sounds weirdly folky. Not sure how I feel about it yet, but so far it feels like a good change, and drums are good. 12. Bed of Nails - 9.0 - that guitar hook is awesome. lyrics are also great; wish the other vocalist sung them. 13. Tell You Why Tomorrow - 8.8 - these last two songs have gone away from how poppy the beginning of the album sounded, and have been much punkier. love it. 14. It's Not Peculiar - 8.0 - not a fan of the vocals. love the guitar on this, though. 15. Actual Condition - 7.2 - short and uninspiring pop punk 16. No Reservations - 7.6 - sounds like the last song. mix is ugly, too. Like the ending. 17. Turn It Around - 8.1 - its interesting. this album has had three sounds so far, and this is now a new one. cool. 18. She's a Woman (And Now He Is a Man) - 7.9 - don't hate it, despite the strange lyrics. 19. Up in the Air - 8.6 - love the lyrics, and the sound. 20. Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 12 2024

1001 Albums To Hear Before You Die - Day 15 1. Born on the Bayou - 8.4 - feels nostalgic, but the interim between vocal sections is too long. Love the sound though. 2. Rihanna sounds great and the story being told is great. 6. Monster - 9.6 - one of the best verses I've ever head. Jay-Z and Nicki were also awesome. 7. So Appalled - 9.0 - chorus doesn't hit as hard on this one. Jay-Z and CyHi still do, and the song is still great. 8. Devil In A New Dress - 10 - Incredible production, even more so on this song. Some of his best flow ever. Guitar solo also goes crazy. 9. Runaway - 10 - Piano is iconic, and the lyrics on this are incredible and some of the most emotional on one of his songs. 10. Hell Of A Life - 8.8 - great beat. doesn't stand to other songs on this album lyrically. 11. Blame Game - 8.9 - love John Legend in this. This is Ye's weakest song on the album though. Beat is crazy good. 12. Lost In The World - 9.2 - with five people singing at once, the amazing production doesn't even make it sound too busy. 13. Who Will Survive In America - 8.5 - powerful speech.

The Rolling Stones by The Rolling Stones
Jan 14 2024

1. Route 66 - 6.8 - boring lyrically. 2. I Just Want to Make Love to You - 7.6 - even more bland lyrically, but at least sounds more interesting. 3. Now I've Got a Witness (Like Uncle Phil and Uncle Gene) - 6.0 - okay instrumental. 6. Little by Little - 6.5- nothing special. 7. I'm a King Bee - 4.4 - do people enjoy this song. 8. Carol - 7.1 - very Rolling Stones-esque. Which is ironic. 9. Tell Me (You're Coming Back) - 8.2 - only genuinely good song. Should be in a movie soundtrack. 10. went into this apprehensive; came out having enjoyed most of it. Great album.

The Band by The Band

New York Dolls by New York Dolls
Aug 26 2024

meh protopunk. Nothing I heard felt very revolutionary to the scene, and songs were very similar sounding.

The Wall by Pink Floyd
Aug 27 2024

Overall, It's a great experience more than it is a collection of individual great songs. I'd have to say that Wish You Were Here was better able to find the happy medium between valuing the experience (like The Wall) and individual tracks (like DSOTM). Still incredible, but doesn't lend well for casual listening outside of a few huge hits.

En-Tact by The Shamen
Aug 28 2024

Just not my thing. I see its place though. favorite track: make it mine

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Aug 29 2024

Moving Pictures by Rush
Sep 02 2024

Awesome! Had never listened to Rush and this was a great introduction. I think the first half is a bit stronger than the second.

Dookie by Green Day
Sep 03 2024

Not the biggest pop punk guy but Green Day for sure does it best. Found some songs that I did enjoy here. Favorite Tracks: Longview, She

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Sep 04 2024

An amalgamation of a lot of different genres that would come about later. Clearly very ahead of its time but lyrics are lacking and some songs are just not good and hard to listen to Favorite Track: Who are the Brain Police?, Help I'm a Rock

I See You by The xx
Sep 11 2024

Good! As far as "indie rock" bands from this time go, I think they did pretty well. Favorite Tracks: On Hold, Lips

Sep 12 2024

meh. Nothing stood out, except for "Milk", which was awesome. Otherwise was pretty disappointed by my first real listen to Kings of Leon

Ramones by Ramones
Sep 13 2024

Incredibly Overrated. I'm not even a punk hater but this sounds like One Song the whole way through.

21 by Adele
Sep 14 2024

Adele is an artist that I can tell makes fantastic music. I just would never listen to it on my own. But this was a great listen. Underrated Track: Don't You Remember

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Sep 15 2024

I mean. I can tell that it's good music. And I'm genuinely glad to say that I tried it out. But it's just not for me. Too long, also.

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Oct 02 2024

Really just great. Does the old rock thing where "old guy wants a teenager" but this is genuinely great music so what can you say? Also helps that I currently happen to be learning French. Reading up on Serge Gainsbourg did not make me happy though. Best song: Cargo culte

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Oct 03 2024

Sounds like Oasis. Hits are good but rest is quite boring. Favorite Tracks: BSS, The Drugs Don't Work, Lucky Man

Connected by Stereo MC's
Oct 04 2024

I actually enjoyed most of this, and may return in the future. Connected was by far the best song, but this wasn't "single banger + hour of mindless filler" that I've seen a lot of this kind of music suffer from.

Tommy by The Who
Oct 05 2024

Can hear the Beatle influence for sure. Not bad, but nothing wowed me.

The New Tango by Astor Piazzolla
Oct 06 2024
