Ick, goths.
Weller-hating goths at that.
Pass.
Not bad.
Heard enough of it on the radio at the time of release, don’t think I need to go back and listen.
Cheers though.
A fantastic album that fills in the spaces in the room, like warm soup on a cold, winter's day.
Holds very special memories for me...Zoe, it was grand!
One of the best & original ACDC albums.
His 'N' Hers is a better album than this, but this one usually gets the chocolates when people talk about Pulp.
It's still good.
Not so much game-changing for its time but game-reminding for those of us who'd heard similar before this. Grunge, but with the right amount of punk attitude. Fast forward over 20 years later and they're now selling socks & cup gift packs with this pasted over it...cutting edge always goes blunt in the end, I guess. Oh, and trivia buffs? This is actually their second album if you get asked the question.
It's well-reported Oasis have a love affair with the Beatles, but I could never hear it. Over their brief life, the Beatles reinvented themselves constantly, and pushed boundaries where they could...and could get away with it.
To that end, I always thought Blur were more Beatles than this Burnage lot.
That said, this came out during a troublesome time of my life, and 30 years later it's still hard for me to listen to this album.
You want the best Oasis album? The closest is The Masterplan, with all the b-sides on it...usually much better listening than their a-sides.
"Album number four still ain't got a title yet
From now on, I'm into Led Zep
It's '70s rock, the very worst you can get
That's why I'm into Led Zep" - TISM
Did Morrissey's flirtation with bigotry start here with Death Of A Disco Dancer? Perhaps. This album was supposed to be a transition LP towards a major label and a possible new sound. Unfortunately, the demise of The Smiths at this point only leant towards SPM's more unchecked fantasies about Bengalis, Asians in ruts and National Front Discos. One star given for Johnny Marr's work, and one for Andy Rourke's bass playing (always underated) and Mike Joyce as solid as ever.
Overheard my brother play Def Leppard a lot - one star.
Art director on this was Ed Thrasher...amazingly, that was not a pseudonym.
Again, heard this from my brother's room many times. Comparativly, it's okay, but thank goodness he discovered punk rock, knowarramean?
