Formative years album for me. Middle school, Alison koleszar, looking up lyrics to memorize them. I didn’t love all the heavy metal songs but adored the melodic and emotional tunes.
Loved the political track Run Charlie run and also listening more closely to papa was a rolling stone
Didn’t listen to whole album. Wish I knew the significance of the album aside from its hit status. Hits don’t make a great album in my mind.
Classic sounds. Reminds me of my childhood especially hanging out in Willow.
Great unique sounds but have heard so much of them and much of their music sounds similar to me. Curious about the books discussion of the “personal psycho-geographies of apartheid buried in the songs.”
Confused by this album - it's not in my 2006 version of the book!
Kind of all over the place.
Distinctive sound but not that interesting track to track
A one hit wonder album to me. The organ was grating on most tracks. Maybe we are spoiled by all the remasters.
I completely respect her business acumen and musicianship. Some tunes are catchy and maybe this is an album you have to hear several times to love, but I don’t really get the appeal.
I wasn’t that interested in this album as a teen but it is a great album for me as an adult. It really holds up
Hard time listening to it due to not being on Spotify, Apple Music etc. listened to a couple tracks on YouTube
This grew on me. Fun beats, not too intimidating rap/funk
Fun songs, many familiar but I didn’t know Marty Robbin’s at all
Classic. Some of the plotlines in the lyrics don't hold up well though.
Nice riffs, beautiful emotion, interesting songwriting
Would probably grow on me. Good musicianship. The fuzzy drums are not my favorite sound.
Love the driving rhythms. Not as much a fan of the ballads. Sound feels a bit repetitive by the end of the album
I like the drama. Hard to listen to this with new ears though

Surprised i didn’t know more of the tracks. Sounded better in the evening. Some tracks hard to get into.
The tracks where you can really hear the harmony. Maybe that’s some thing they did in the remaster.
Some great hit tracks. Like the vocals and harmonies. Some songs aren’t that exciting.
Sounds like 2010. Also sounds like their predecessors like bon iver and fleet foxes. Nothing really great for me here except the sound of the era.
Meh. One or two songs I would listen to again. I need to read the significance of this album and why it was included to understand more
First heard radio free Europe in a tape my dad had in old motorhome he had
I like this form of percussion better than rock drum percussion. Album gets a little repetitive
Nice easy to listen to jazz
Liked it more than I thought I would
Liked it more than I thought I would
Interesting to hear similarities to stereophonic
Good musicians, uninteresting songwriting
Love those millennial rhythms and I had missed this band in high school
This was completely not the sound I expected from the kinks
Good diverse ambient album. I know another song by him but was surprised I didn’t hear it on this album
Ultimate winter nights album
A few duds but overall great
Poetic and emotional but too hard to get into the music for me
I never thought of them as a band appealing to adults but this album is a lot less child-like in content than I realized
Never heard this album or band before. Pretty good. Vagabond virgin is kinda questionable politically
Not sure this album is available anymore, I liked the recent directors cut though
Glad I read the reviews, interesting album and sounds but not something I gravitate to
Surprised by the production quality being so bad. Was this on purpose?
Couldn’t access the album on Spotify
Interesting album- liked it more than I thought I would.
