Rage Against The Machine
Rage Against The MachineHell of a pick for this on Election Day 2024. This album was released on Election Day 1992. Just neat.

Chaotic, magical, masterful. Part 1 is my favorite.
Tracks one and two are nothing special. This album feels like it’s gonna be a miss for me. Two more in - this barely qualifies as listenable. Who is this for? Jemima surrender - worst track so far. Jesus. Penultimate track - if i never listen to the band again, it will be too soon I don’t hate king harvest lyrically Okay real talk. Vocals and organ are insufferable on this album.
One recognizable song. Very consistent sound throughout. Nowhere as good as mellon.
Astounding. I am familiar with a lot of these tracks, and there’s a good reason for their popularity, but even the lesser tracks are still pretty good. A pleasure to listen to, with fantastic production and orchestration.
Astounding for the time euro electronica. Very slow. Very German.
I’m familiar with the title track, but not so much with the rest of this album. I can hear a lot of other artists in here. The doors, jethro Tull, king crimson, David Bowie. Acid rock and jam bands. Absolutely enjoy the variation on god rest ye merry gentlemen.
This is the brassiest brass to ever brass. Track c is my favorite. Chaotic and fast but great. The instruments sing in an almost human voice. Dagnabbit.
I love this album. So many songs I already know and never realized this was from the same album. Rightly recognized for the masterpiece it is.
Ambient indeed.
Early emo. Can see a lot how it develops. But not for me.
John Riley has some interesting parts. I like the byrds from other songs, but none of these strike that same chord.
Easy to see what evolved of this into punk. Seeing what musical styles they draw from is neat. This isn’t far removed from og rock n roll. I love the ska-esque tracks more than anything else. I am a sucker for horns. Mostly unimpressive. Drags on too long and the vocalist is not cut out for this. Until the last two tracks. I know train in vain, but revolution rock is a real standout on this.
The best to ever do it.
Not for me, nothing standout.
I would be able to tolerate the choir and string synths in an 80s album but it just feels stale here. There is potential, but nothing impressive
One star per good track
Race for the prize is great. Flaming lips are one of those artists that on paper I should love but just don’t.
Two good tracks. Funky though.
Best track: lil ghetto boy A few skips
Surprisingly modern album. Some very 80s sound, but grunge. And it really feels like indie dream pop.
This sucks.
Smooth

Only one good song
A worse the cure
