Tres Hombres
ZZ TopThis was a classic ZZ top album. It was probably revolutionary when it came out, but not that special now. If I wanted to put a soundtrack on when I did something to make me feel cool, this so what it would be.

Very sad girl 90s. Strong piano. Not sure at all what is special about this album. I guess criminal (I've been a bad bad girl) is a decent song and a bit of a classic, but don't think it supports the rest of the album. Maybe if I was into jazz this would be good?
Love the funk. Boogie on reggae woman has the classic funk undertones with that synth underneath. Stevies voice is also glorious and fits what is needed. That said, I don't think it is the best of Stevie Wonders albums.
This album has lots of snippets from different genres, there is a little hard rock on "Breaking Glass". "What in the world" has a very talking heads style vibe early on in the track. Whats up with subteraneans - real weird vibes. Does seem underground with teh chanting etc.
This will be good to listen to. Considering "Breakfast in America" was a great album to listen to with Dad growing up, I am looking forward to this. Opens with school: Classic harmonica from this band. Really love how the bass drops after that slow intro. Bloody well right: I thought that this was on "Breakfast in America" but it's a great song nonetheless. Distorted guitar work is solid. There's also a lil hard rock vibe thrown in there (similar to bad company). Dreamer: Absolute classic banger. There's even a little Pink Floyd in Crime of the Century. Was this revolutionary when it came out? What an album! - 5 stars.
This album was released a good 7 years before I thought it would have been. The fact that this album contains where is my mind adds an extra start at least. Overall a really good album in its own right.
I've never heard of this band before. Right off the first track it seems like it was at the proto front of acoustic guitar based music. Perfect for those hippies to sing along to in california.
Decent. I know this was really influential in bringing a style of music to western audiences.
Pretty average and boring. Maybe this was revolutionary for its time, but much of this genre that came later was much better.
Album is a banger. Opening track is fine, a solid start and really has the 80's asthetic to it. Some weird bagpipe/violin thing going on. Love and Anger - Great track. Has a real pop sound to it. There's something familiar about the style of this track, but cant put my finger on it. Rockets Tail - power of her voice holds the whole thing together.
This is a weird one. Why is this on this list? The whole album sounds like a James Bond soundtrack. This album is so weird. It gets weirder as you go along. Oompah Radar? WTF?
I've never actually really LISTENED to Steely Dan. It's always been on in the background. This is a really good and interesting album. Do it again is a classic. King is also a really good track - you can really hear the bongo drums get to it. It has a good groove too. Midnight cruiser? Also an absolute banger which starts slow. Reelin in the years? That distroed guitar at the start? Amazing.
Honestly, this is one of the seminal hip hop albums. Its just special. Sampling has always been fundamental to hip hop, but their sampling from classic kung fu movies is amazing. Shame on a N*ga has some of the best flowand rhymes. Some of the skits are a bit outrageous too.
Pretty middle of the road soul album. You can hear his great vocals. It's a decent not great album.
This is the first album on this list that I have come across that is from my time. It came out when I was in college and thus has so many memories tied to it that influence how it sounds to me. Opening with time to pretend the drums, background synths and voclas just come together. Weekend wars and the youth aren't the anthemic bangers that exist elsewhere on this album but I think that they are interesting musically and lyrically. Kids is a 5 star track in it's self. The 4 star rating is probably nostalgia based.
This is a pretty 90's rock album. Not really the sort of thing I would go out of my way to listen to.
Not really a great album. I think I preferred his later stuff where he brings more dance elements into his music.
So 80s! But so good. Very Phil Collins sounding. Great pop.
U2 gets a lot of shit, but this album was actually pretty decent. There's some ups and downs, but it's wholly inoffensive.
Again, a fine americana album. Nothing groundbreaking
This is a musically beautiful album. Its not really my vibe at the moment, though. Its very slow paced.
This is an interesting album. Background listening and ambient sounds, one of the tracks had a very nine inch nails vibe to it. I can appreciate this album musically, but similar to the previous album (Nick Cave) it isn't really my thing.
I have listened to this album enough before this project that I already know that this will be my first 5/5 star rating. The whole album being a reflection on fame and the way it makes people think and act is amazing. The maximalist production that draws from many influences to create a maximalist vibe, as well as the guest features that draw from many aspects of the 2010's biggest artists make this Kanyes peak. Some might argue that this is the start of Kanyes downward spiral, mental illnesses and just generally being a terrible human, but I am still sure that end to end this is the greatest album released so far in the 21st century - not a single track on this album misses. Now to listen to it again as part of the 1001 albums project.
Perfect album to get on a sunny Friday. This is classic doors and its great.
Interesting early ska/British alternative. Not sure what this genre is, but squeeze is in the same category.
The very first Iron Maiden album! Maiden is one of my favorite bands so this isn't an unbiased review. This pre Bruce Dickinson album sets the scene for what is to become a staple - it sets the scene for the rest of the career. It is a lot rawer and to some degree a bit heavier than their later work which I think is potentially related to Paul DiAmos voice.
I guess this album is somewhere between the grunge if the 90s and the start of indie sleaze. It's an interesting album, but not that exciting.not a huge fan of this.
Nothing special. Waterloo sunset is decent, I guess.
Love the cure. Good start, 100 years has an interesting pulsating bass line. I think I can see how the moody Robert Smith influenced/was influenced by quite a few bands of this style.
This is weird af. While I like pink and I can see that there is some punk in here - it's just a long drawn out art rock type album. 2 stars
Some decent tracks. I'm a fan of "cold war" as it has a good beat and vocals. Os dancey. There's also some jazz type stuff on here (come alive)?
This album is so long! It's also the second Stevie Wonder album so far. It's a pretty chill album, and had some classic tracks but could have done with some more curation.
