Bongo Rock
Incredible Bongo BandPretty boring!
Pretty boring!
Warning sign stood out. Not a big fan of this album.
Change gonna come, I’ve been loving you too long, You don’t miss your water. Good soulful love songs, nothing warranting a skip but also not something I’d be driven to put on.
Classic, great album front to back
One really good song. Not much I haven’t heard done better on other folk records.
Eight miles high and what’s happening stand out.
Lots of meandering and forgettable chord progressions with few memorable melodies or hooks. Bloated and repetitive. Maybe it was culturally exciting for being a new way to present rock and roll music, but it doesn’t make it something I’d want to put on my turntable.
Pretty standard country and folk stuff. Great vocals and production, but nothing seems to be standing out. It would have been cool if these three wrote the songs together instead of doing mostly cover songs. I’ve Had Enough is the standout song here. After reading a review and getting some context for this project I have a better appreciation for it. Still not a huge fan.
This album is not as amazing as critics say it is. There’s maybe 3 great songs but it gets old fast. All the songs have the same vibe and rarely do they stand out from each other.
There are some really cool songs on here. The Gordon songs are the standouts.
There are no skips on this album.
First two songs way too long. The second half of this had some great songs.
Some of the best Sabbath songs ever on here.
Very fun and infectious. Does not overstay its welcome. I feel like a lot of times electronic styles of music go on way too long and get boring. But this has a thoughtful song structure. Lyrically interesting and engaging, with a sense of humor. Ahead of its time I feel like.
War is the best song on here. The vibe is something that I can’t imagine ever being in the mood to want to hear. It’s like boring metal circus music. I guess I just don’t get it.
Burial stands out. Legalize it and Let Jah Be Praised are songs I remember my dad playing a lot, but I don’t find them to be very moving to me personally.
First song was reminiscent of CS&N. Second one is giving a Beach Boys vibe. I’m hoping to hear something beyond the obvious influences. The whole folk “stomp clap yeah” genre is admittedly not my favorite. There’s not a lot to sink your teeth into, it’s blandly mellow. I suppose it’s a good thing to put on if you wanna take a nap. Background music.
It’s not bad but it’s also very repetitive. Not much catchiness or hooks. I probably won’t remember any of the songs. I’ve listened to most of the album twice now. I can’t imagine ever wanting to put this on my turntable.
This album truly sucks. Pretentious garbage.
Rated each song on a scale of 1-3, meaning the highest score possible would be 42. Ended up with a score of 33 which is a ratio of 78.5%. So that’s a C, or a 3 star rating. It’s ironically apt that the album is called The Low End Theory because the latter half of the album is way more interesting than the songs higher up on the track list.
Milquetoast? Lonestar is the best song so far. Painter Song had such a great vibe and potential until that pump organ/accordion solo came in and made it extremely trite.
This album is pretty boring. It flirts with interesting chord progressions and melodies and then either gets predictable or too disjointed to be enjoyable. First song was the best.
8/24/25 Some really good straight forward driving rock and roll. Can definitely see this being an influence for Quiet Riot, especially in the vocal style. 70%. Two cover songs which is a little much for me. The Joplin one is more enjoyable than the Shirley & Lee medley.
Overrated! I don’t feel like this has aged very well. Even in the context of its time, Tribe was putting out way more enjoyable hip hop albums years prior. The production is great but is often wasted on really base lyrical content. Some of the most impressive lines on this are delivered by the features.
These songs have no teeth and are immediately forgettable. There’s a feeling of energy that never reaches it’s potential
Very boring tbh. An album over an hour better be super engaging and interesting and this was not. It felt like work getting through it.
American Girl is not enough to rescue the blandness of the remaining songs. Breakdown could have been more enjoyable if Tom wasn’t putting on some kind of try hard suave accent.
Pretty boring!
I don’t get it. It seems very bland and boring. The highlights are the parts Steve Shelley was involved with, but even that makes me wish I was listening to the Buzzcocks instead. Not my thing. Slow, meandering, pretentious, forgettable. 37%
