Almost perfect Zeppelin album. Favorite track was "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper." The use of folk instruments like mandolin and banjo added to the blues element, harkening back to when blues and bluegrass first began integrating into what we know as rock n' roll today.
Classic and relaxing. An example of remarkable instrumentation fused with creative song writing.
Ahead of its time, that's for sure. I can see where a lot of indie bands drew inspiration from this album.
Great use of keyes and organ. My favorite song was "Jesus etc."
Not my cup of tea, personally, but overall solid. I didn't like the ending.
Classic. What an amazing voice.
The musicality and songwriting were so simplistic, but it speaks to the quality of the musicians involved that these songs are so timeless.
There's a good variety between early rock n' roll and more old school blues. My favorite song is "Long Tall Sally (The Thing)," which demonstrates Little Richard's vocal style perfectly. "Oh Why" is another great track that is sung in a lower, more controlled register. Great sax solo, making this blues tune fun and dancable. A great product of its time.
One of my favorite and most nostalgic bands. Being raised on 60-70s Brittish Invasion bands, the Kinks hold a very special place in my heart. This album has some of their best songs. It manages to be very indicative of this period of pop music, while simultaneously being timeless.
Not my favorite album by them, but definitely an essential. My favorite song is "Picture Book" and "Animal Farm."
Phenomenal album.
There's a use of blues, jazz, and R&B elements that really speak to the influence of African American in music. It's really a beautiful homage to the life and struggles of Black people in America. Kendrick does an amazing job setting up a narrative throughout the album. With a really incredible use of sampling and beats, this album will take you through a journey.
"King Kunta" will always be my favorite. But after listening to the album as a whole, "Complexion (A Zulu Love)," "Blacker the Berry" and "i" have come up in my rank of Kendrick songs.
Genius album. Even for those not into Kendrick or hip-hop in general, it's necessary listening.
The way Cohen is more a story-teller than a songwriter brings on a different listening experience that I wasn't used to. There's an ambiance that your brain isn't sure if it should focus on or not. I love the classical-inspired nylon guitar used in many of the songs.
Like a mix of a bolero and corrido, I can't help but feel there's a lot of Spanish and Latin influence behind these songs, despite their distinctly western folk feel.
"Sisters of Mercy" even utilizes some European folk instruments, indicative of the Renaissance fad of the 60s.
Ultimately, what makes this album great is Cohen's song writing. At the end of the day, he's a poet and this album is pure poetry. "So Long, Marianne" was a favorite off this one. The lyric "You held onto me like I was a crucifix," sticks with me.
I really miss the days when songs were only 2 mins long. The whole album is 28 mins total, and a delight from start to finish.
The cheeky and creative lyrics with Loretta's pretty much perfect voice allows for a very nice listening experience. Great album!
EXCELLENT album. Just superb. Bowie at his most-Bowie. The mix of soul and funk really set this album apart. I love his use of a gospel choir, really paying homage to African-American influence in western music.
There's a great use of jazz style guitar, bass, and horns, too. Really makes for great listening.
While I love the title hit "Young Americans," my favorite track by far is "Somebody up There Likes Me." Essential listening for any Bowie fan.
I'm not normally a fan of live albums, but this one really turns me out. "Kick Out the Jams" has always been a favorite, but "Rocket Reducer No. 62 - Talk" is definitely up the list for me.
This album has an interesting energy to it. You really feel like a part of the crowd. It's a great listen.
There's something really great about this album, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Gaye's voice is masterful, full of soul and feeling that take you to another place and time.
It's smooth and soulful. A real masterpiece of the genre. The instrumentation is so creative and such a product of the time.
My favorite song ended up being "Time to Get It Together," though "Funky Space Reincarnation" is a close second.
A timeless listen. Such great songs. I love the more bluesy Stones songs. The album has great flow. The guitar is just unbelievable. The music is timeless.
My favorite song will forever be "Sympathy for the Devil."
"Stray Cat Blues" and "Factory Girl" are underrated masterpieces. Loved every minute of this album.
I'll never get over how jarring it is to hear a protest album in 2026, only to realize it came out 51 years ago. A lot of Mayfield's songs hold true today.
This album is really a keystone of the genre, one that still influences artists today.
My favorite song was "Billy Jack."
There's a lot of things I like about the album, but a lot of things I don't like as well. It's experimental, it's industrial, it's probably most loved by the coolest person you know.
I can see that this album was influential and certainly ground-breaking for it's time. My personal favorite is "Hell is Around the Corner."
It's really cool to listen to these songs lay the groundwork for the modern rap/hip-hop genre. It's classic, but definitely a product of its time.
My favorite song ended up being "She Wastch Channel Zero?!"
Cool, experimental, and so weird it's fun. New-wave before new-wave.
Reminds me of 70's sci-fi movies.
Fun album, only 6 songs total.
"Neon Lights" is a really beautiful listen.
Absolutely delightful listen! The perfect blend of relaxing, cheerful, and introspective. Perfect for a late summer's night. Great instrumentation, especially with the percussion and jazz flute.
My two favorites were "Misty Roses" and "Tu Mi Delirio."
Really, really, really cool album. I had never even heard of this band before and now I'm recommending this album to everyone. So cool. Industrial, experimental, but had good musicality and you can sing along. Underrated, for sure!
My favorites were "Gravity's Rainbow" and "Magick."
Really excellent album. Starts out like a Creedence-inspired Southern Rock instrumental but quickly turns into the most Brittish, Beatles-esque, it's mod rock. Really cool listen!
The album builds as you go, so "Msd John" and "HappyDaysToyTown" ended up being my favorite.
Such a classic! Love this album, love this style. Such a pioneer for the genre.
I love Siouxsie's voice. "Spellbound" will always be a favorite, but "Monitor" jumped up in my book after this listen. Recommended listening for anyone inclined to the darkside.
Amazing album.
It's interesting, after listening to punk and rock music for most of my life, whenever I revisit this album it reminds me of its influence. So many pieces have been carried on by bands for decades.
I really can't pick a favorite-- "Johnny Jazz," "Spanish Bombs," and "Lost in the Supermarket" are my top.
Absolutely masterful execution of the samba style. Every song is unique with some of the most skillful instrumentation I've ever heard.
The ending track "Bahia" was particularly impactful.
A staple of the genre. Unbelievable playing here.
Really cool listen. Weird, experimental, and groovy. Not my favorite Talking Heads, but an interesting listen.
"Once in a Lifetime" is probably my favorite song. It's the biggest hit for a reason.
Not at all what I expected!
A really unique sound, with lots of classical and jazz influence. Wonder's vocals sound amazing on this recording.
"Living for the City" and "All in Love is Fair" we're my favoirte.
Phenomenal album. Excellent listen. Such a perfect product of the time. A really unique sound overall and very enjoyable.
Favorite tracks ended up being, "Steppin' Out" and of course "Mr Blue Sky."
Such a cool album! Very different from the usual Beach Boys pop. More melancholy feel overall. A lot of great songs here.
"Student Demonstration Time" and "Lookin' At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song)" were my favorites. Still hold up today!
Just an amazing album. It's a smooth ride. The story-telling ballads allow you to just kind of get lost in the listening. Winehouse's voice is phenomenal.
"Me and Mr Jones" is a long-time favorite of mine, with "Tears Dry On Their Own" being a close second. Love this album. Utterly timeless.
I love albums that tell you exactly what they are. "Murder Ballads" is a whole experience. Two features stuck out in particular-- done by two legends in their own right-- PJ Harvey and Kylie Minogue. Really spectacular performances with intricate and unique lyrical styles that fit the theme of each song.
"The Curse of Millhaven" was probably my favorite, both for its jaunty tempo and creative lyrics.
Excellent album. So many hits!
Absolutely essential listening.
Hard to pick a favorite, but "Sister Morphine" and "Dead Flowers" are so good.
Amazing listening experience. Dylan at his most Dylan.
"Idiot Wind," "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts," and "If You See Her, Say Hello," were all favorites.
Surprised at just how many hits came from this album. Interesting listen overall. Ahead of its time yet defined the early 90s.
My favorite track ended up being "Once."
It's not a bad album by any means, but I find it difficult to picture the person this album is for. To me, it sounds mostly like background noise. Like this album belongs playing at a coffee shop or on the soundtrack of a CW show. I like the music and the lyrics, but I can tell I am not the intended audience for this particular album. Still and enjoyable listening experience, I'm just not sure if I'll end up revisiting it anytime soon.
My favorite song ended up being "Sail Away."
I absolutely LOVED this album! Such a fun sound of new wave synth pop and a heavy funk-jazz influence. I have a great appreciation for the sax solos. Bass lines are super funky and add a cool dance-y element to the music. Super fun. Listened to it twice-through back to back.
My favorite song was "Lemon Firebirgade" but "Snow Girl" was a close second.
White's unique songwriting styles makes for a very interesting listen. Lots of old rock and blues influence with a cool mix of folk and White's one-of-a-kind style.
"I Guess I Should Go to Sleep" and "Take Me With You When You Go" were the favorites.
Lovely album! I never listened to it all the way through, but I can see the hype for sure. "I'll Be Waiting" and her cover of "Lovesong" were the two favorite.
This album really blows my mind. And this was their DEBUT. You hear the roots of folk and blues, but Zeppelin takes everything to a completely new level of rock.
I have so many favorites! "Dazed and Confused," "Black Mountain Side," and "Communication Breakdown" are the top.
Interesting. I appreciate the creativity that went into each mix. Every song is mixed well and has a great flow to it.
Not my style, but still an overall enjoyable listen. Great music to zone out to.
The title track "Destory Rock n' Roll" is definitely my favorite.
Phenomenal album. I love the build to a really emotional end. "Alabama" and "Words (Between the Lines of Ages)" are particularly impacting. Young's story-telling song writing style mixed with classic folk/blues instrumentation really pull the listener in. It's engaging and interesting, even fifty-some years later.
Really great listen. Awesome flow to the album, heard some songs I really needed to hear. Loved the creative lyrics.
Loved "Cast No Shadow" and "She's Electric."
Good listen. Smooth. Green's vocals paired with the jazz-lounge musicality really make for a relaxing experience.
"I've Never Found a Girl" ended up being the favorite.
This is genuinely one of the worst albums I've ever listened to. It's a pretentious type of modern-impressionism reminiscent of the Dada movement. But the thing is you can't be pretentious and bad. It's just objectively bad. What sucks the most is that the band really seemed like they had a message, but dropped the ball on every song. I felt nothing but annoyance listening to this album, even as I related to the lyrics. All I could think about was how I could be listening to better artists who said it better.
No favorite song.
Great album. Been listening to it all the way through for decades now. Worth it every time.
I know it's cliche, but "Stairway" will forever be the favorite.
Cool listen. I liked it more than I thought I would, but it's definitely an album I need to be in the mood for. Got cooler as it went.
"Lion in a Coma" and "Brother Sport" were the favorites.
I never have a bad time listening to a Neil Young record. This one is soulful a mellow. Peak style for Niel. I enjoyed it a lot.
Fav this time was "When You Dance You Can Really Love."
I really liked this album. Classic late-90s East-Coast rap. Really creative choices used for the sampling and great engineering all around. It's a classic. Really enjoyable.
"The Champ" and "Jellyfish" were the favorites off of this one.
Great stuff here. Live jam-band feel, makes for a fun listen. Joplin's voice blows me away every time. Andrew's guitar playing is phenomenal.
"Turtle Blues" is the favorite here.
Cool album. Again, one of those albums that the coolest person you know listens to, but not for me. It's almost post-grunge and experimental, so not a bad listen overall.
If the instrumentation or the lyrics (not necessarily both) were more interesting, I would have liked it more.
"Mental" and "Your Lucky Day in Hell" were the favorites this time.
Really enjoyable listen. The album has a smooth flow to it that keeps you engaged. I think the best part is that you really hear the type of artist that Missy Elliot becomes. She's shown her talent from the start, it's really no wonder why she got so big.
"Izzy Izzy Ah" is the favorite here.
It's a good album. Ultimate road trip jam. That's really all I have to say about it.
"Downbound Train" and "Dancing in the Dark" are the favorites.
Great listen. Album doesn't have much flow, but the music is so good you don't even notice.
I have to say the title track "Let It Bleed" will always be a favorite here.
I love the Monkees!
I grew up on these songs. The music of the Wrecking Crew never fails to impress. I love Micky's voice the most, but the original "Girl That I Knew Somewhere" sung by Nesmith really hits. Did the album need ten other versions of the song? Eh.
The album as a whole is so much fun. Quintessential 60's pop that utilizes modalities and instruments that are very indicative of the decade. It brings you to another time, yet still timeless.
I have so many favorites from this album. A lot of them are life-long loves of mine. "For Pete's Sake," "Randy Scouse Git," and "All of Your Toys" are the top.
Interesting concept. Interesting album.
I'm not a huge fan of the spoke-word style at the beginning. The music is good. "Cargo culte" is my favorite track. The guitar on it is great.
I don't really know who this album is for. A bit too art-house to be listened to casually.
Classic. They had such an iconic sound. This album is quintessential to their style. The album itself is fine, though the songs get a bit repetitive.
"Shot Down in Flames" was the favorite off this one, although the title track "Highway to Hell" is a timeless classic. A good album to jam out to every once in a while.
RIP Bon Scott.
It's so cool listening to this album and hearing the protozoa influence they have on so many genres and artists down the line.
I love the use of the organ. Adds a level of drama to the music.
"Are You Happy" was the favorite on this one.
Really cool listening here. I'm a big fan of it's hip hop and Tribe really set the stage. Some of the rhymes were very of-the-time, but the sampling, engineering, and beats were phenomenal.
"Ham N' Eggs" was the favorite track on this one.
Amazing album. I was really blown away. Impossible to describe besides saying it's just some of the best music you've ever heard. A soundtrack to life.
I think "Black Man's Cry" was the favorite track this time.
Very cool album. A ton of hits off of it. It has good flow, but a little long for me.
Some really amazing music to be heard. Fantastic bass and experimental guitar. Mixes funk, rock, metal, and hiphop.
"Power of Equality" was the favorite track.
