Popular Reviews

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin

Phenomenal album. Best of the best. Aretha's voice will be known as one of the greats for generations to come. Her version of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" is transcendental. "Chain of Fools" was my favorite this time around.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes

Love this album. "White Winter Hymnal" was always my favorite, butt after listening all the way through, it's now "He Doesn't Know Why." Fantastic indie folk, really a one-of-a-kind sound. Great listen, would recommend.

Pelican West by Haircut 100

I absolutely LOVED this album! Such a fun sound of new wave synth pop and a heavy funk-jazz influence. I have a great appreciation for the sax solos. Bass lines are super funky and add a cool dance-y element to the music. Super fun. Listened to it twice-through back to back. My favorite song was "Lemon Firebirgade" but "Snow Girl" was a close second.

Really, really, really cool album. I had never even heard of this band before and now I'm recommending this album to everyone. So cool. Industrial, experimental, but had good musicality and you can sing along. Underrated, for sure! My favorites were "Gravity's Rainbow" and "Magick."

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention

This is genuinely one of the worst albums I've ever listened to. It's a pretentious type of modern-impressionism reminiscent of the Dada movement. But the thing is you can't be pretentious and bad. It's just objectively bad. What sucks the most is that the band really seemed like they had a message, but dropped the ball on every song. I felt nothing but annoyance listening to this album, even as I related to the lyrics. All I could think about was how I could be listening to better artists who said it better. No favorite song.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Jan 06 2026

Almost perfect Zeppelin album. Favorite track was "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper." The use of folk instruments like mandolin and banjo added to the blues element, harkening back to when blues and bluegrass first began integrating into what we know as rock n' roll today. Classic and relaxing. An example of remarkable instrumentation fused with creative song writing.

Jan 07 2026

Ahead of its time, that's for sure. I can see where a lot of indie bands drew inspiration from this album. Great use of keyes and organ. My favorite song was "Jesus etc." Not my cup of tea, personally, but overall solid. I didn't like the ending.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Jan 08 2026

Classic. What an amazing voice. The musicality and songwriting were so simplistic, but it speaks to the quality of the musicians involved that these songs are so timeless. There's a good variety between early rock n' roll and more old school blues. My favorite song is "Long Tall Sally (The Thing)," which demonstrates Little Richard's vocal style perfectly. "Oh Why" is another great track that is sung in a lower, more controlled register. Great sax solo, making this blues tune fun and dancable. A great product of its time.

Jan 09 2026

One of my favorite and most nostalgic bands. Being raised on 60-70s Brittish Invasion bands, the Kinks hold a very special place in my heart. This album has some of their best songs. It manages to be very indicative of this period of pop music, while simultaneously being timeless. Not my favorite album by them, but definitely an essential. My favorite song is "Picture Book" and "Animal Farm."

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Jan 10 2026

Phenomenal album. There's a use of blues, jazz, and R&B elements that really speak to the influence of African American in music. It's really a beautiful homage to the life and struggles of Black people in America. Kendrick does an amazing job setting up a narrative throughout the album. With a really incredible use of sampling and beats, this album will take you through a journey. "King Kunta" will always be my favorite. But after listening to the album as a whole, "Complexion (A Zulu Love)," "Blacker the Berry" and "i" have come up in my rank of Kendrick songs. Genius album. Even for those not into Kendrick or hip-hop in general, it's necessary listening.

Songs Of Leonard Cohen by Leonard Cohen
Jan 11 2026

The way Cohen is more a story-teller than a songwriter brings on a different listening experience that I wasn't used to. There's an ambiance that your brain isn't sure if it should focus on or not. I love the classical-inspired nylon guitar used in many of the songs. Like a mix of a bolero and corrido, I can't help but feel there's a lot of Spanish and Latin influence behind these songs, despite their distinctly western folk feel. "Sisters of Mercy" even utilizes some European folk instruments, indicative of the Renaissance fad of the 60s. Ultimately, what makes this album great is Cohen's song writing. At the end of the day, he's a poet and this album is pure poetry. "So Long, Marianne" was a favorite off this one. The lyric "You held onto me like I was a crucifix," sticks with me.

I really miss the days when songs were only 2 mins long. The whole album is 28 mins total, and a delight from start to finish. The cheeky and creative lyrics with Loretta's pretty much perfect voice allows for a very nice listening experience. Great album!

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jan 13 2026

EXCELLENT album. Just superb. Bowie at his most-Bowie. The mix of soul and funk really set this album apart. I love his use of a gospel choir, really paying homage to African-American influence in western music. There's a great use of jazz style guitar, bass, and horns, too. Really makes for great listening. While I love the title hit "Young Americans," my favorite track by far is "Somebody up There Likes Me." Essential listening for any Bowie fan.

Jan 14 2026

I'm not normally a fan of live albums, but this one really turns me out. "Kick Out the Jams" has always been a favorite, but "Rocket Reducer No. 62 - Talk" is definitely up the list for me. This album has an interesting energy to it. You really feel like a part of the crowd. It's a great listen.

Here, My Dear by Marvin Gaye
Jan 15 2026

There's something really great about this album, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Gaye's voice is masterful, full of soul and feeling that take you to another place and time. It's smooth and soulful. A real masterpiece of the genre. The instrumentation is so creative and such a product of the time. My favorite song ended up being "Time to Get It Together," though "Funky Space Reincarnation" is a close second.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jan 16 2026

A timeless listen. Such great songs. I love the more bluesy Stones songs. The album has great flow. The guitar is just unbelievable. The music is timeless. My favorite song will forever be "Sympathy for the Devil." "Stray Cat Blues" and "Factory Girl" are underrated masterpieces. Loved every minute of this album.

Jan 17 2026

I'll never get over how jarring it is to hear a protest album in 2026, only to realize it came out 51 years ago. A lot of Mayfield's songs hold true today. This album is really a keystone of the genre, one that still influences artists today. My favorite song was "Billy Jack."

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Jan 18 2026

There's a lot of things I like about the album, but a lot of things I don't like as well. It's experimental, it's industrial, it's probably most loved by the coolest person you know. I can see that this album was influential and certainly ground-breaking for it's time. My personal favorite is "Hell is Around the Corner."

Jan 19 2026

It's really cool to listen to these songs lay the groundwork for the modern rap/hip-hop genre. It's classic, but definitely a product of its time. My favorite song ended up being "She Wastch Channel Zero?!"

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jan 20 2026

Cool, experimental, and so weird it's fun. New-wave before new-wave. Reminds me of 70's sci-fi movies. Fun album, only 6 songs total. "Neon Lights" is a really beautiful listen.

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
Jan 21 2026

Absolutely delightful listen! The perfect blend of relaxing, cheerful, and introspective. Perfect for a late summer's night. Great instrumentation, especially with the percussion and jazz flute. My two favorites were "Misty Roses" and "Tu Mi Delirio."

Jan 22 2026

Really, really, really cool album. I had never even heard of this band before and now I'm recommending this album to everyone. So cool. Industrial, experimental, but had good musicality and you can sing along. Underrated, for sure! My favorites were "Gravity's Rainbow" and "Magick."

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake by Small Faces
Jan 23 2026

Really excellent album. Starts out like a Creedence-inspired Southern Rock instrumental but quickly turns into the most Brittish, Beatles-esque, it's mod rock. Really cool listen! The album builds as you go, so "Msd John" and "HappyDaysToyTown" ended up being my favorite.

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Jan 24 2026

Such a classic! Love this album, love this style. Such a pioneer for the genre. I love Siouxsie's voice. "Spellbound" will always be a favorite, but "Monitor" jumped up in my book after this listen. Recommended listening for anyone inclined to the darkside.

London Calling by The Clash
Jan 25 2026

Amazing album. It's interesting, after listening to punk and rock music for most of my life, whenever I revisit this album it reminds me of its influence. So many pieces have been carried on by bands for decades. I really can't pick a favorite-- "Johnny Jazz," "Spanish Bombs," and "Lost in the Supermarket" are my top.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jan 26 2026

Absolutely masterful execution of the samba style. Every song is unique with some of the most skillful instrumentation I've ever heard. The ending track "Bahia" was particularly impactful. A staple of the genre. Unbelievable playing here.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Jan 27 2026

Really cool listen. Weird, experimental, and groovy. Not my favorite Talking Heads, but an interesting listen. "Once in a Lifetime" is probably my favorite song. It's the biggest hit for a reason.

Innervisions by Stevie Wonder
Jan 28 2026

Not at all what I expected! A really unique sound, with lots of classical and jazz influence. Wonder's vocals sound amazing on this recording. "Living for the City" and "All in Love is Fair" we're my favoirte.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Jan 29 2026

Phenomenal album. Excellent listen. Such a perfect product of the time. A really unique sound overall and very enjoyable. Favorite tracks ended up being, "Steppin' Out" and of course "Mr Blue Sky."

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jan 30 2026

Such a cool album! Very different from the usual Beach Boys pop. More melancholy feel overall. A lot of great songs here. "Student Demonstration Time" and "Lookin' At Tomorrow (A Welfare Song)" were my favorites. Still hold up today!

Back To Black by Amy Winehouse
Jan 31 2026

Just an amazing album. It's a smooth ride. The story-telling ballads allow you to just kind of get lost in the listening. Winehouse's voice is phenomenal. "Me and Mr Jones" is a long-time favorite of mine, with "Tears Dry On Their Own" being a close second. Love this album. Utterly timeless.

Murder Ballads by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Feb 01 2026

I love albums that tell you exactly what they are. "Murder Ballads" is a whole experience. Two features stuck out in particular-- done by two legends in their own right-- PJ Harvey and Kylie Minogue. Really spectacular performances with intricate and unique lyrical styles that fit the theme of each song. "The Curse of Millhaven" was probably my favorite, both for its jaunty tempo and creative lyrics.

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Feb 02 2026

Excellent album. So many hits! Absolutely essential listening. Hard to pick a favorite, but "Sister Morphine" and "Dead Flowers" are so good.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Feb 03 2026

Amazing listening experience. Dylan at his most Dylan. "Idiot Wind," "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts," and "If You See Her, Say Hello," were all favorites.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Feb 04 2026

Surprised at just how many hits came from this album. Interesting listen overall. Ahead of its time yet defined the early 90s. My favorite track ended up being "Once."

White Ladder by David Gray
Feb 05 2026

It's not a bad album by any means, but I find it difficult to picture the person this album is for. To me, it sounds mostly like background noise. Like this album belongs playing at a coffee shop or on the soundtrack of a CW show. I like the music and the lyrics, but I can tell I am not the intended audience for this particular album. Still and enjoyable listening experience, I'm just not sure if I'll end up revisiting it anytime soon. My favorite song ended up being "Sail Away."

Pelican West by Haircut 100
Feb 06 2026

I absolutely LOVED this album! Such a fun sound of new wave synth pop and a heavy funk-jazz influence. I have a great appreciation for the sax solos. Bass lines are super funky and add a cool dance-y element to the music. Super fun. Listened to it twice-through back to back. My favorite song was "Lemon Firebirgade" but "Snow Girl" was a close second.

Blunderbuss by Jack White
Feb 07 2026

White's unique songwriting styles makes for a very interesting listen. Lots of old rock and blues influence with a cool mix of folk and White's one-of-a-kind style. "I Guess I Should Go to Sleep" and "Take Me With You When You Go" were the favorites.

21 by Adele
Feb 10 2026

Lovely album! I never listened to it all the way through, but I can see the hype for sure. "I'll Be Waiting" and her cover of "Lovesong" were the two favorite.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Feb 11 2026

This album really blows my mind. And this was their DEBUT. You hear the roots of folk and blues, but Zeppelin takes everything to a completely new level of rock. I have so many favorites! "Dazed and Confused," "Black Mountain Side," and "Communication Breakdown" are the top.

Feb 12 2026

Interesting. I appreciate the creativity that went into each mix. Every song is mixed well and has a great flow to it. Not my style, but still an overall enjoyable listen. Great music to zone out to. The title track "Destory Rock n' Roll" is definitely my favorite.

Harvest by Neil Young
Feb 13 2026

Phenomenal album. I love the build to a really emotional end. "Alabama" and "Words (Between the Lines of Ages)" are particularly impacting. Young's story-telling song writing style mixed with classic folk/blues instrumentation really pull the listener in. It's engaging and interesting, even fifty-some years later.

Feb 14 2026

Really great listen. Awesome flow to the album, heard some songs I really needed to hear. Loved the creative lyrics. Loved "Cast No Shadow" and "She's Electric."

Let's Stay Together by Al Green
Feb 15 2026

Good listen. Smooth. Green's vocals paired with the jazz-lounge musicality really make for a relaxing experience. "I've Never Found a Girl" ended up being the favorite.

We're Only In It For The Money by The Mothers Of Invention
Feb 16 2026

This is genuinely one of the worst albums I've ever listened to. It's a pretentious type of modern-impressionism reminiscent of the Dada movement. But the thing is you can't be pretentious and bad. It's just objectively bad. What sucks the most is that the band really seemed like they had a message, but dropped the ball on every song. I felt nothing but annoyance listening to this album, even as I related to the lyrics. All I could think about was how I could be listening to better artists who said it better. No favorite song.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Feb 17 2026

Great album. Been listening to it all the way through for decades now. Worth it every time. I know it's cliche, but "Stairway" will forever be the favorite.

Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective
Feb 18 2026

Cool listen. I liked it more than I thought I would, but it's definitely an album I need to be in the mood for. Got cooler as it went. "Lion in a Coma" and "Brother Sport" were the favorites.

After The Gold Rush by Neil Young
Feb 19 2026

I never have a bad time listening to a Neil Young record. This one is soulful a mellow. Peak style for Niel. I enjoyed it a lot. Fav this time was "When You Dance You Can Really Love."

Fishscale by Ghostface Killah
Feb 20 2026

I really liked this album. Classic late-90s East-Coast rap. Really creative choices used for the sampling and great engineering all around. It's a classic. Really enjoyable. "The Champ" and "Jellyfish" were the favorites off of this one.

Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company
Feb 21 2026

Great stuff here. Live jam-band feel, makes for a fun listen. Joplin's voice blows me away every time. Andrew's guitar playing is phenomenal. "Turtle Blues" is the favorite here.

Beautiful Freak by Eels
Feb 22 2026

Cool album. Again, one of those albums that the coolest person you know listens to, but not for me. It's almost post-grunge and experimental, so not a bad listen overall. If the instrumentation or the lyrics (not necessarily both) were more interesting, I would have liked it more. "Mental" and "Your Lucky Day in Hell" were the favorites this time.

Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Feb 23 2026

Really enjoyable listen. The album has a smooth flow to it that keeps you engaged. I think the best part is that you really hear the type of artist that Missy Elliot becomes. She's shown her talent from the start, it's really no wonder why she got so big. "Izzy Izzy Ah" is the favorite here.

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 24 2026

It's a good album. Ultimate road trip jam. That's really all I have to say about it. "Downbound Train" and "Dancing in the Dark" are the favorites.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Feb 25 2026

Great listen. Album doesn't have much flow, but the music is so good you don't even notice. I have to say the title track "Let It Bleed" will always be a favorite here.

Headquarters by The Monkees
Feb 26 2026

I love the Monkees! I grew up on these songs. The music of the Wrecking Crew never fails to impress. I love Micky's voice the most, but the original "Girl That I Knew Somewhere" sung by Nesmith really hits. Did the album need ten other versions of the song? Eh. The album as a whole is so much fun. Quintessential 60's pop that utilizes modalities and instruments that are very indicative of the decade. It brings you to another time, yet still timeless. I have so many favorites from this album. A lot of them are life-long loves of mine. "For Pete's Sake," "Randy Scouse Git," and "All of Your Toys" are the top.

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Feb 27 2026

Interesting concept. Interesting album. I'm not a huge fan of the spoke-word style at the beginning. The music is good. "Cargo culte" is my favorite track. The guitar on it is great. I don't really know who this album is for. A bit too art-house to be listened to casually.

Highway to Hell by AC/DC
Feb 28 2026

Classic. They had such an iconic sound. This album is quintessential to their style. The album itself is fine, though the songs get a bit repetitive. "Shot Down in Flames" was the favorite off this one, although the title track "Highway to Hell" is a timeless classic. A good album to jam out to every once in a while. RIP Bon Scott.

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly
Mar 01 2026

It's so cool listening to this album and hearing the protozoa influence they have on so many genres and artists down the line. I love the use of the organ. Adds a level of drama to the music. "Are You Happy" was the favorite on this one.

Mar 02 2026

Really cool listening here. I'm a big fan of it's hip hop and Tribe really set the stage. Some of the rhymes were very of-the-time, but the sampling, engineering, and beats were phenomenal. "Ham N' Eggs" was the favorite track on this one.

Live! by Fela Kuti
Mar 03 2026

Amazing album. I was really blown away. Impossible to describe besides saying it's just some of the best music you've ever heard. A soundtrack to life. I think "Black Man's Cry" was the favorite track this time.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Mar 04 2026

Very cool album. A ton of hits off of it. It has good flow, but a little long for me. Some really amazing music to be heard. Fantastic bass and experimental guitar. Mixes funk, rock, metal, and hiphop. "Power of Equality" was the favorite track.

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Mar 05 2026

Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would. I did wake up this morning craving a good ballad, and Vega delivered. Some really great guitar along with some really great songwriting. "Knight Moves" was the favorite track for me.

Liquid Swords by GZA
Mar 06 2026

Fantastic album. Total vibe. Great flow, great rhymes, great beats. Essential listening. Favorite tracks were "Shadowboxin'" and "B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Introductions Before Leaving Earth)."

Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz
Mar 07 2026

Very enjoyable. Quintessential samba. Great guitar by Gilberto, and Getz's saxophone brings in a classic jazz element that is timeless. I really enjoyed the tracks sung by Astrud Gilberto, particularly "Corcovado."

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors
Mar 08 2026

Very different with some really good guitar in here. I liked the unconventional effects used. The songwriting is creative. The album is ahead of it's time, that's for sure, but it's not for me. I didn’t find the songs that interesting. So while I can appreciate the creative decisions, I didn’t really enjoy them. No favorite track off of this one.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Mar 09 2026

Loved this album! Never heard of Supergrass before now, but really enjoyed this. A mix of 90s grunge with heavy influence of the 60s & 70s-- something like ELO meets Smashing Pumpkins. Really cool sound! "Cheapskate" was the favorite track off of this one.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Mar 10 2026

Phenomenal album. Best of the best. Aretha's voice will be known as one of the greats for generations to come. Her version of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" is transcendental. "Chain of Fools" was my favorite this time around.

The Libertines by The Libertines
Mar 15 2026

Interesting listen. I like the overall structure of the album, how one song flows to the next. It almost feels like listening to a live set. I love the heavy blues and early rock influence that lays out the overall tone. "Road to Ruin" ended up being the favorite this time.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Mar 16 2026

An undeniably good album. Great for that old-school hard rock. Precursor to metal that just goes all out. Amazing guitar and percussion. Would have loved to see this performed live. "Flight of the Rat" was my favorite track.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Mar 17 2026

Great album. Loved listening to it, made me very nostalgic for that era of Indie pop. I hear a lot of influence thought new music of the 2020s that can be traced back to this sound. Karen O's voice is so perfect for their sound. I loved the track "Skeletons" the most.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
Mar 18 2026

I really enjoyed this album. It's classic 90's punk with a cool but of ska put in with use of a brass section in some of the tracks. Comparable to a lot of punk classics, just a 90's version of them. The only thing I wish was that there was more variety between tracks. The songs are all of a similar flavor and structure. The catchy lines and unique riffs help break things up, but after a while I was wondering if I was listening to the same song twice. "Burnt Alive" and "Ball Lightening" were my favorite tracks.

Logical Progression by LTJ Bukem
Mar 19 2026

I'll be honest, I really didn't need 3.5hrs of 2003 Toonami spaceship commercial music. I'm sure this was groundbreaking at the time, and after reading up on it, the techniques used for composition were really innovative. But the songs were such a slog to get through. I only enjoyed about 10% total of listening, then I eventually just had to wait for each song to end. I wish there was more build, more flow, and more dynamics when it came to pitch. No favorites off of this one.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Mar 20 2026

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Good composition and interesting use of instrumentation. No song was what I expected. The energy flow was enjoyable. The kind of album you can turn on and listen to all the way through. I loved "Intervention." "Windosill" hit really hard. "No Cars Go" made me cry. I'll be honest, I had a really tough day when I heard this. This album was both cathartic and comfort. Really needed to hear this one. Will listen again.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Mar 21 2026

Good coffee-shop singer-songwriter music. Nothing groundbreaking in my opinion. Lyrics and instrumentation are alright. Jones has a nice enough voice. There's a couple jazz and blues elements carried throughout the album that I enjoyed. I liked "Cold Cold Heart."

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen by The Residents
Mar 22 2026

I would give it a 0 if I could. Another Dada-influenced impressionist band. There's more substance to this album than the other art-house albums I've heard so far, which leads me to believe that the Residents do actually know what music is, but chose a style of soulless soundmaking instead. But there's no message, no nuance, and no core. No favorites off this one.

Mar 23 2026

Usually when I start an album, I start when I get out of bed and I'm done by the time I go on my lunch break. Today I got out of bed listening to Outkast and went to bed listening to Outkast. That's really my only gripe about the album. It's a marathon length at over two hours. Most of the songs are pretty good, with enough really great songs to keep you engaged throughout. But there were times when I would glance over at the track list and groan. I feel like this could have been a truly legendary album if it was trimmed down a bit. There's some really cool stuff here, too. Some experimental beats with drum'n'bass, some R&B and jazz elements, as well as some genre-defying hip-hop. It's a landmark album and there's truly nothing else like it. I really liked "Bowtie" and "Roses."

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Mar 24 2026

Great album. Just has great flow, catchy songs, and perfect timing. "Bluebird" was my favorite off of this one.

Lust For Life by Iggy Pop
Mar 25 2026

I'm shocked it took me this long to listen to this album all the way through. Great album. Reminds me of a long drive on a summer's night with the windows down. Just something so satisfying about it. "Successs" was my favorite track.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Mar 26 2026

Sometimes it takes me a minute to remember the power behind reggae songwriting. Powerful words and a powerful message. I loved "No More Trouble" off this one.

Mar 27 2026

Do you like songs about love, horses, and gun violence? Then this is the album for you! Very cinematic and entertaining. Robinns has a style and sticks to it, so it gets a bit repetitive. Otherwise pretty solid music. "The Strawberry Roan" and "The Master's Call" were my favorite tracks.

Boston by Boston
Mar 28 2026

It's a decent album. Solid listening flow with tons of hits. Some of the songs ran together, I couldn't tell if I had hear them before or not. I didn't mind it though. Great driving music. "Hitch a Ride" and "Rock n Roll Music" were my favorites.

Synchronicity by The Police
Mar 29 2026

A good listen. Interesting enough. Good background album. "Wrapped Around Your Finger" and "Murdered By Numbers" were the favorite tracks.

Mar 30 2026

I really thought I would like this album more. I remember it making a splash when it first came out, but I guess it's never been my style. I liked "Weekend Wars" the best.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Mar 31 2026

I loved this album, though it has its flaws. Great early grunge/punk. Fantastic listen, but it lacks structure. Songwriting is great and the instrumentation is incredible. The Pixies have a style that can't really be replicated. "Cactus" was my favorite.

Happy Trails by Quicksilver Messenger Service

Probably one of the few jam-band albums I can listen to all the way through. Not bad, overall. I thought it had a good flow. Some really interesting techniques used, too, especially for a live show. Definitely a background sort of album, not one to focus on for too long. No favorite track this time, because it's really all one song.

Crime Of The Century by Supertramp
Apr 11 2026

Interesting album overall. It's great if you like Supertramp's style. Kind of a pinnacle album for the. I enjoyed it overall. The title track, "Crime of the Century" was my favorite.

All Hope Is Gone by Slipknot
Apr 12 2026

Brings me back. I think this album is quintessential in representing Slipknot. A perfect example of nu-metal at his particular time. I think "Gemetria (The Killing Name)" is my favorite track.

Pink Flag by Wire
May 24 2026

Cool album. Mix of post-punk and classic punk. Great sound for an album from the 70s. "12 x U" was the favorite this time.

Vanishing Point by Primal Scream
May 25 2026

Cool album, but not my favorite. I gotta be in the right state of mind for an album like this. Not a bad listen, and not too long. "Medication" was the favorite off this one.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
May 26 2026

Love this album. "White Winter Hymnal" was always my favorite, butt after listening all the way through, it's now "He Doesn't Know Why." Fantastic indie folk, really a one-of-a-kind sound. Great listen, would recommend.

Who's Next by The Who
May 27 2026

Great album overall. Nothing but hits, good flow. Favorite track will always be "Bargain."

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
May 28 2026

I don't think I would have enjoyed this album if I hadn't known the concept going into it. But knowing what Adamson set out to do, I can say he pretty much nailed the execution. Certain parts remind me of old noir films, others remind me of Bond movies-- it's a vibe and Adamson killed it. I loved his take on "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," but my favorite track was "The Man With The Golden Arm."

Moon Safari by Air
May 29 2026

Way more enjoyable than I typically find electronic albums. Chill. A good listen overall. Wouldn't mind it as background music is a bar or something. I liked "Remember."

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
May 30 2026

Really great album. Fantastic flow and some of the best guitar playing you'll ever hear. Really good listen overall. Obviously, "La Grange" is legendary, but "Jesus Just Left Chicago" was my favorite off of this one.

The Rise & Fall by Madness
May 31 2026

Very interesting album. If I didn't know the release date going in, then I genuinely wouldnt be able to tell you what era this album is from. There's so many influences and blended styles that are all over the place yet used in a very cohesive way that nails down Maddness' style. There's psychedelic 60's brittish invasion, with 40's jazz brass, and 80's synth beats. It's so eclectic but formed together in such a skillful way. My favorite track was "Primrose Hill."

1984 by Van Halen
Jun 01 2026

Nothing but hits. I would find it to be a bit too much if it were longer, but clocking in at only 33mins, it's sort of perfect. Fun songs, great guitar. Favorite track is "Drop Dead Legs."

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Jun 02 2026

One of the few instances where I wish an hour-long album was even longer. Pure fun. Nothing but respect for this masterpiece. Favorite track is "Paradise by the Dashboard Light."

Objectively a good album. Unique style, great instrumentation, and a good run-time. I just didn't really like it that much. I can't deny the skill put into it-- the drums, bass, and guitar are all spectacular and really shine throughout. I think "Liberty For Our Friend" was my favorite.

One World by John Martyn
Jun 04 2026

The best word that comes to mind to sum up this album is "groovy." It's mellow and funky and clean. A great recommendation for the Cowboy Bebop lover in your life. I didn’t think I would enjoy it as much as I did. "Small Hour" was the favorite track. It's an experience.

Rip It Up by Orange Juice
Jun 05 2026

Really enjoyed this album. Indicative of the new-wave and post punk in the UK during the 80s. Weird but cool, interesting but mellow. I really enjoyed the use of bass and sax that gave it a bit of funk. Good flow. Not too long. Favorite track was definitely the title track "Rip It Up."

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jun 06 2026

35 minutes of jazz perfection. I loved "Moon Dream."

Remedy by Basement Jaxx
Jun 07 2026

The most basic electronic/techno music you'll hear. Like if a low budget basic cable TV show needed generic "club music," this is what they would play. I didn't mind the track "Jump N' Shout."

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Jun 08 2026

I never really got the hype around Fiona Apple, and now I don't think I ever will. I enjoyed her unique and poetic storytelling style of writing. I liked the piano and instrumentation, and I really believe she has a great voice. However, altogether, it's just not for me. I think I liked "Carrion" the best.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Jun 09 2026

Really enjoyed this album. It has a unique, almost unplaceable sound to it. A lot of people are talking about the vocals, but what really stood out to me was the guitar. The twangy sound paired with folk riffs and blues chords has this American classic sound to it (strange since Armatrading is British). The composition is great. Something I'll be re-listening to for sure! A few favorite tracks here, "Tall in the Saddle," "Like Fire," and "Love and Affection."

Kimono My House by Sparks
Jun 10 2026

I wish I liked this more. It's a fun album! It's unique and a decent listen overall. But there's an element missing. I think if there had been a really good guitar, or a great drummer, or some otherworldly vocals... Something to make it really stand out. I still enjoyed it for what it is, but it needed something else to make it stand out. I liked "Hasta Manana, Monsieur" and "In My Family."

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
Jun 11 2026

Interesting mix. A true hybrid genre. But, I've come to realize I just don't care for electronica. I did love the song "North American Scum." Beyond that, not much for me to get into.

Repeater by Fugazi
Jun 12 2026

I miss when punk rock was fast and angry and easy to dance to. Fugazi is teenage angst pressed into sound. Repeater reminds me of the good old days. I think I have to go with "Styrofoam" and "Song #1" as my favorites.

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Jun 13 2026

The album was really ahead of its time. I think the overall flow is fine, though it goes on a bit too long. Songs are good throughout, no duds really. Soundgarden is really spectacular when it comes to innovative breakdowns and taking the song to a place you don't expect as a listener. I think the title track "Superunknown" was my favorite off of this one.

Django Django by Django Django
Jun 14 2026

Usually when I hear the term "art-rock," I run for the hills. But this album genuinely wasn't bad. It had a nice groove. Sounds like an album out of time, using a lot of interesting elements. "Skies Over Cairo" was the favorite track this time.

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Jun 15 2026

Interesting and a little weird. Oddly relaxing. I preferred the funky-er stuff. Really, it makes you feel like you're in some futuristic noir film. Like a soundtrack to something you can't place. "She's So" was my favorite track. The added saxophone set it apart.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jun 16 2026

Standard listening for alt rock fans. Really set the stage for grunge and hard rock. Awesome to listen to in retrospect, but must have been really mind-blowing when released. I think "Down In A Hole" is my favorite, but there's so much to love here. Great album.

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds
Jun 17 2026

One of the greats. Really interesting early psychedelic rock album that still holds elements of folk and blues. "Hey Joe (Where You Gonna Go)" was the favorite track.

Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys
Jun 19 2026

I'll never get over how creative these boys from Brooklyn are. The beats, the rhymes, the samples are all just top-tier. They're unexpected and fun. I love albums that are just fun. So many great songs here, but "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" was my favorite.

All Directions by The Temptations
Jun 20 2026

A great motown album. Unapologetically authentic. An easy listen with a great vibe. Each song was enjoyable. "Do Your Thing" was my favorite.

Sunshine Hit Me by The Bees
Jun 21 2026

Love this! A cool mix of funky and psychedelic, but with a modern twist. It's fun and dancey, but still low key and chill. I'm genuinely surprised I've never heard of this band before. I think they're a bit ahead of their time-- I feel like this album would get a lot of traction if it was released in 2026. The callbacks to early motifs of funk, reggae, and jazz just really make it timeless, though. Super interesting, and just plain good music. "Sweet Like a Champion" was my favorite off this one. Beautiful song.

Shake Your Money Maker by The Black Crowes
Jun 22 2026

Solid album. Good flow overall and not too long. I preferred the slower blues tracks personally. "She Talks to Angels" as always been a favorite, but I think "Seeing Things" surpassed it.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Jun 23 2026

Interesting psychedelic jazz, heavy on the impressionism. I liked the scenes Hancock painted with the album. I feel like this is the kind of music people smarter than me listen to. "Watermelon Man" was my favorite track.

Trafalgar by Bee Gees
Jun 24 2026

Reminds me of that medieval/Renaissance fad of the 60s-70s. Very much of that time. Slow, singer-songwriter ballads. Weird knowing this is the Bee Gees. Not really a bad album, but there's been so many done better. No track really stood out, overall. I think I liked "Trafalgar" the best.

Among The Living by Anthrax
Jun 25 2026

Sometimes guitars sing, sometimes they weep, sometimes they just chime along. Dan Spitz makes guitars scream. Anthrax put the metal in thrash metal with this one. So many good tracks. I can't help but shout along to "Efilnikufesin (N.F.L)."

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jun 26 2026

Devestatingly beautiful. A much more low-key Kendrick than I'm used to hearing. There's a lot in here that speaks to his style and later works that he's carried throughout his career. I loved the low-fi beats mixed with old elements of funk and jazz. Sets the scene for West Coast rap/hip-hop. The overarching story hits hard. You can almost get lost during the meat of the songs, but the intro/outro reels you back in, sometimes so suddenly it gives you whiplash. It's immersion in that way, like hearing life-changing news in the middle of a perfectly ordinary day. Usually I dread albums over an hour, but this one kept me hooked the entire time. "Money Trees" has always been a favorite closely followed by "Backseat Freestyle." In the context of the album, though, "Compton" came out on top.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Jun 27 2026

Good song writing. A staple of 70s folk-rock. While I found the ballads interesting from a story-telling standpoint, I did find the album a bit on the boring side. Too long with just this one type of guitar-strum and a cappella choral singing. There's a time and a place where I would really enjoy this music, but after the nineteenth "doo-doo-doo," I was just waiting for it to be over. My favorite part about it is the older fingerstyle guitar, inspired by classical and early folk playing. "Marrekesh Express" was the favorite track off this one.

Axis: Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix
Jun 28 2026

Great album. There's a heavy mix of that 70s experimental impressionism before it really gets into the groove of things. The lyrics and guitar are pure poetry. Essential listening for any rock-lover. Favorite track had to be "Bold Love." An epic finale for a great album.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Jun 29 2026

Good groove. Great songs, though not really structured enough for an album. Good background music or something to chill to in an evening setting. I enjoyed the horns a lot, I thought they added a lot of musicality and demension to an otherwise low-key song. To be clear, none of the songs are bad. I just wished for more variety out of the album. I think "Come Get to This" was my favorite.

Jun 30 2026

Solid song writing. Good listen, but not mind-blowing. "Monty Got a Raw Deal" was my favorite track.
