Almost perfect Zeppelin album. Favorite track was "Hats Off to (Roy) Harper." The use of folk instruments like mandolin and banjo added to the blues element, harkening back to when blues and bluegrass first began integrating into what we know as rock n' roll today.
Classic and relaxing. An example of remarkable instrumentation fused with creative song writing.
Ahead of its time, that's for sure. I can see where a lot of indie bands drew inspiration from this album.
Great use of keyes and organ. My favorite song was "Jesus etc."
Not my cup of tea, personally, but overall solid. I didn't like the ending.
Classic. What an amazing voice.
The musicality and songwriting were so simplistic, but it speaks to the quality of the musicians involved that these songs are so timeless.
There's a good variety between early rock n' roll and more old school blues. My favorite song is "Long Tall Sally (The Thing)," which demonstrates Little Richard's vocal style perfectly. "Oh Why" is another great track that is sung in a lower, more controlled register. Great sax solo, making this blues tune fun and dancable. A great product of its time.
One of my favorite and most nostalgic bands. Being raised on 60-70s Brittish Invasion bands, the Kinks hold a very special place in my heart. This album has some of their best songs. It manages to be very indicative of this period of pop music, while simultaneously being timeless.
Not my favorite album by them, but definitely an essential. My favorite song is "Picture Book" and "Animal Farm."
Phenomenal album.
There's a use of blues, jazz, and R&B elements that really speak to the influence of African American in music. It's really a beautiful homage to the life and struggles of Black people in America. Kendrick does an amazing job setting up a narrative throughout the album. With a really incredible use of sampling and beats, this album will take you through a journey.
"King Kunta" will always be my favorite. But after listening to the album as a whole, "Complexion (A Zulu Love)," "Blacker the Berry" and "i" have come up in my rank of Kendrick songs.
Genius album. Even for those not into Kendrick or hip-hop in general, it's necessary listening.
The way Cohen is more a story-teller than a songwriter brings on a different listening experience that I wasn't used to. There's an ambiance that your brain isn't sure if it should focus on or not. I love the classical-inspired nylon guitar used in many of the songs.
Like a mix of a bolero and corrido, I can't help but feel there's a lot of Spanish and Latin influence behind these songs, despite their distinctly western folk feel.
"Sisters of Mercy" even utilizes some European folk instruments, indicative of the Renaissance fad of the 60s.
Ultimately, what makes this album great is Cohen's song writing. At the end of the day, he's a poet and this album is pure poetry. "So Long, Marianne" was a favorite off this one. The lyric "You held onto me like I was a crucifix," sticks with me.
I really miss the days when songs were only 2 mins long. The whole album is 28 mins total, and a delight from start to finish.
The cheeky and creative lyrics with Loretta's pretty much perfect voice allows for a very nice listening experience. Great album!
EXCELLENT album. Just superb. Bowie at his most-Bowie. The mix of soul and funk really set this album apart. I love his use of a gospel choir, really paying homage to African-American influence in western music.
There's a great use of jazz style guitar, bass, and horns, too. Really makes for great listening.
While I love the title hit "Young Americans," my favorite track by far is "Somebody up There Likes Me." Essential listening for any Bowie fan.
I'm not normally a fan of live albums, but this one really turns me out. "Kick Out the Jams" has always been a favorite, but "Rocket Reducer No. 62 - Talk" is definitely up the list for me.
This album has an interesting energy to it. You really feel like a part of the crowd. It's a great listen.
There's something really great about this album, but I can't quite put my finger on it. Gaye's voice is masterful, full of soul and feeling that take you to another place and time.
It's smooth and soulful. A real masterpiece of the genre. The instrumentation is so creative and such a product of the time.
My favorite song ended up being "Time to Get It Together," though "Funky Space Reincarnation" is a close second.
A timeless listen. Such great songs. I love the more bluesy Stones songs. The album has great flow. The guitar is just unbelievable. The music is timeless.
My favorite song will forever be "Sympathy for the Devil."
"Stray Cat Blues" and "Factory Girl" are underrated masterpieces. Loved every minute of this album.
I'll never get over how jarring it is to hear a protest album in 2026, only to realize it came out 51 years ago. A lot of Mayfield's songs hold true today.
This album is really a keystone of the genre, one that still influences artists today.
My favorite song was "Billy Jack."
There's a lot of things I like about the album, but a lot of things I don't like as well. It's experimental, it's industrial, it's probably most loved by the coolest person you know.
I can see that this album was influential and certainly ground-breaking for it's time. My personal favorite is "Hell is Around the Corner."
It's really cool to listen to these songs lay the groundwork for the modern rap/hip-hop genre. It's classic, but definitely a product of its time.
My favorite song ended up being "She Wastch Channel Zero?!"
Cool, experimental, and so weird it's fun. New-wave before new-wave.
Reminds me of 70's sci-fi movies.
Fun album, only 6 songs total.
"Neon Lights" is a really beautiful listen.
Absolutely delightful listen! The perfect blend of relaxing, cheerful, and introspective. Perfect for a late summer's night. Great instrumentation, especially with the percussion and jazz flute.
My two favorites were "Misty Roses" and "Tu Mi Delirio."
Really, really, really cool album. I had never even heard of this band before and now I'm recommending this album to everyone. So cool. Industrial, experimental, but had good musicality and you can sing along. Underrated, for sure!
My favorites were "Gravity's Rainbow" and "Magick."
