i <3 an unexpected steel drum (uh-oh, love comes to town), i like the beats for most talking heads songs, they just make you want to move and dance
what caught my ear most:
the book i read
pulled up
don’t you worry about the government
no compassion
psycho killer - think this was the only song i knew from this album before this listen
last week is going to b an earworm for me i just know it
overall liked this, saved/added a few songs to playlists, think the second half was more my speed
off the cuff, i am so into by these names
i quite enjoy when artists do the radio station bit for an album
it’s the law around here that you got to wear your sunglasses so you can feel cool -- this is so sib
really grooving w this one, i like the beats and how the instruments come together, saved i think every song lol
another sitch where i had rly only heard give up the funk from this album, glad to know the album behind the song
the songs r a bit longer than what i usually reach for, but i cld def see myself throwing this album on as a whole
the jazzy, funky, heavy instrument afrobeat sound is one i find engaging and easy to listen to
i liked how long the songs were, i feel like you rly settled into the beat, the songs kinda blended in a way that felt cohesive
this being a live album rly added to it for me, i liked in the last few songs when you could hear people in the crowd, i feel like the music has a lot of energy, so hearing the audience react and engage with it was cool
ending the album w a 16 minute long drum solo is such a power play
bonus: was curious so i did google fela kuti and he is one interesting guy, him marrying 27 women in one day is a fun fact i will not soon forget
would say this is a classic in our family, haven’t listened all the way through in a while, but i am quite enjoying
i love cowboy tunes and i love ballads
standouts:
el paso - duh
the masters call
running gun
big iron
i like how the songs are short but still you get a lot of story with each one
el paso will always make me think of driving and singing with addy and dad
some fun guitar solos, some lyrics r just so goofy
standouts:
nightrain
mr. brownstone
sweet child o mine
liking this more than i thought i would, but probably wouldn’t put it on — kinda blended together at a point
my throat kinda hurt by the end of this album #empath
this came out two days after my bday (8 years before i existed) but i will give them a point for this
this isn’t rly a style of music i gravitate to, cld see it being fun if i was a more angry individual, tho i do like the messages behind a lot of the songs, take the power back afff
i feel like its part of the whole thing they have going on, but idk if i rly like how the instrumentals kinda drown out the vocals, that said i do think the instrumentals r probs my fave part of the album
if they had an instrumentals only version i lowkey think i wld listen to that
i feel a need to draw attention to the fact that i did not get them in spotle last week so this feels personal
i found for a few of the songs i was like ok yeah i kinda get it, this is fun then they wld rly up the scream for the last minute or so and they wld lose me
i <3 jimi, he just has it
the instrumentals are just so cool, guitar is insane and i love his voice
i love his music but don’t always branch out of what i know, so this was a good listen for me, will def be returning to it
standouts:
little miss strange
crosstown traffic
come on (let the good times roll)
(lowkey all of them)
probs 4.5
album cover is killing me
some cool guitar, i can rock w it, liked more than i expected/cld see it growing on me but probs wldn’t reach for this album, liked the alternative versions more for a lot of these lol
standouts:
(we are) the roadcrew
love me like a reptile (purely bc name)
dance
