1001 Albums Summary

liked a lot more than i thought i would. think that the hits (one thing or another, heart of glass) are overrated, but was surprised at the depth of the musicality, especially on "Fade Away and Radiate" and "Picture This". Reminded me at times musically of Oasis or the Smiths, but with an interesting added dimension of the female vocals.

Album brings me right where I want to be mentally every time I listen to it. Desafinado

Love the drum tuning of early songs. Spellbound, Into the Night, Arabian Nights a great 3 song run, but a lot of the other songs felt monotonous and either flat or just noisy. Arabian Nights Night Shift

Could be a 4, but maybe blinded by familiarity. R&B usually falls short for me, but Frank’s more straightforward style of singing communicates emotion a lot more to me than a more impassioned style. Great use of organ on Bad Religion and Forrest Gump

God this band pissed me off. Some very high highs, but also the lowest lows. Incredible ; time signature, instrumentation, etc. An exercise in tension and release

More of a 3.5. Carried by bootsy Collins and Give Up the Funk

Carried by Like a Rolling Stone, otherwise rambly and noisy. Harmonica felt extremely piercing

Did not expect this at all, but was a perfect start to the day. Massive Attack, Air… almost sounded like songs before Pretty Lights remixed and ruined them

Better than expected, wider range than expected. La Grange felt like an exception rather than the standard.
