Melodic and magical and full of soul and life and sadness and glee. This was a journey I really enjoyed taking.

Legendary wails, iconic vocals, funky beats...the song 'Changes'. Absolutely mental that this album came out 50 years ago because if it came out today it would be just as iconic. Trailblazer for the metal genre. What an absolute dream of an album.

great sound, lots of soul, and overall very funky and enjoyable. butttt i did find the songs a bit repetitive and long at times. long album.

Money for Nothing is SUCH a banger but the whole album is really enjoyable

sounds like all of the 90's music I never listened to because I didn't care for it. Technically it's very good, but I don't like the singers voice very much and I didn't find the album very compelling.

exactly what I needed to lift me up

I found this enjoyable in a different way. Very funny and interesting. I laughed out loud several times and really appreciated my time with this album. That said - I don't really see it as a casual listen that I could find myself putting on for normal enjoyment. Overall quite a trip.

Sometimes chaotic, sometimes beautiful, sometimes kinda annoying. But overall a pretty unique and interesting package that makes me want to try out some more Björk.

My stepmom loves Prince so I've heard a lot of his stuff over the years and always thought it was decent enough. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as I did though! Funky and fun, technically impressive, and overall a very good time listening to this.

One single drum beat over and over across an entire album full of 7+ minute songs, with uninteresting vocals, and a few solid guitar riffs. I definitely did not need to listen to this album before I died.

Fine just not for me

Pretty good, I liked it enough to potentially listen to it again if it comes up in a playlist

As much as I’d like to give it 5 stars, ‘Jealous Guy’ is kinda messed up knowing what I know about John Lennon, and ‘Oh Yoko!’ is a big miss for me.

Much cooler than I expected it to be

Quite an operatic experience overall, which I always find myself appreciating. There's such a weird dichotomy, though, between the badass cover and album title and the artists name being Meat Loaf and being a guy who does not appear to be badass at all.

Delightful

It took a couple of songs for this to grow on me, but grow on me it did! Loved the storytelling throughout the album.

They’re solid enough but they do also sound like several other better bands all at the same time

This album is like being in a wonderful dream until Jamaican Jerk-Off rips you out of that dream and then you have to spend the next 10 mins trying to fall back asleep

It was fine but not super memorable for me

I wanted to like it more than I actually liked it. The vocals can be grating and their shtick wore thin by the end. Overall not a terrible band in small doses, but listening to the entire album is not the way.

Love Zeppelin but curious why this album is on the list. Are there more? Zeppelin II is better.

This is some cocktail hour mingling music. Some conference call hold music. Department store music. Pre-dancing wedding music.

Best Stripes album. Listening to it is like putting on a comfortable old hoodie that smells like home. I can’t possibly count how many times I’ve listened to this album over the years but every time I do I am reminded of how brilliant it is.

Started off as a 3 and worked its way down to a 2 with its repetitive songs without much energy

Coldplay isn’t my jam

I liked the sound mostly but a double album of something I don’t love felt like a little much at times and the whole thing also felt kinda like county fair music

Surprised by how much the chill melodies and vocals landed with me. I actually listened to it while lifting instead of switching to an audiobook or podcast like I normally do.

7 songs, 1 hour 46 minutes is diabolical. I guess I just don’t really like Miles Davis very much. This is my 2nd attempt to like him and 2nd failure.

I’m a simple man, I see white stripes I give 5 stars. I remember being disappointed by the softness of this album after it opens heavy with blue orchid, but it grew on me over the years. Iconic imagery. Love this.

This album oscillates between “slice of white bread” and “this is the most annoying thing I’ve ever heard”. It’s a good thing the mixing is shit because if I had to hear the singer say “AND IM TRYING IM TRYIN IM TRYIN” any louder I would’ve driven my car off of an overpass to make it stop. Seriously why is that a song? Who wants to listen to that? Every single person in this band sounds like they’re intermediate level at what they do. Was it really this easy to be in an alt band in the 90’s? Every time I see alternative 90’s come up I know I’m in for some lame ass bullshit. I was a kid in the 90’s and it turns out I was right all along for never liking the alt music of the time. This list oftentimes feels like it should just be named “a list of 1,001 albums” because I absolutely did not need to listen to this.
