Ok so this is my first review, and i usually dont leave reviews anywhere. As a beginner and someone who really wanted to expand ones musical library, especially as i was looking to get more accustomed with this type of old school rock, i of course enjoyed this album. I even saved 5 songs in a separate playlist to keep as i go along. This is a good start on my cultural expansion
Edit: yeah, later I realised its top tier
yeah i can say this genre is not my type, but i still enjoyed it. Or maybe it wasnt until now better said. My favorites were Right on, Inner city blues and Mercy mercy me. And maybe Save the children for the lyrics when I look outside the window.
Nice listen, but a bit too old school for me
this one was the most popular so far, but nah for me. Sounds great, but ig if I will have an addicted obsessed era i will remember this
Edit: fuck it got me
Trip-hop. Interesting to hear those niche subgenres i heard about. I used to like electronic music but the more mainstream one, so its nice to see far roots. Roads, strangers, glory box were my favs
Edit: its actually one of the best electronica albums out here, and after being recommended other similar albums, I found out I really like this genre, and this was the first and the best so far.
if i was here 10 years, i would had given it 5 stars, but im not in that phase anymore :))
yeah, its nice lofi, maybe for my coffee shop ambience
It's ok, nothing special though, relaxing at least which is kind of nice, stoned really. I vibed slightly with Only love can break your heart and Spring, but I can see other people enjoying this more. Hmm actually after stoned is even chiller
Very cowboy. Good for a dusty trip
Again, i would have liked this 10 years ago
i didnt even realise its such a short album when i listened to it in the car. Its slow riffs are really something, and in that mountain road ambience even more so
It definitely sounds good, even catchy at some points (the first track), but this kind of music isn’t really my type :)) The name of the album represents it well
Nice, might look into this band more later
Very western. Such cowboy. Wow. Nice for a dusty trip
nice, a little too backround for me. i wouldnt give it 3 stars, but 2 feels too harsh something i could enjoy at parts, like single and what came after walking wounded (big deal ec.)
Edit: wow this is how harsh I was at the start? (this was just the 15th album). Thing is I listened more to this duo and grown to love them. Even found a top song ever in my list but sadly its not here
Early alternative rock
Now we are talking. EPIC og electronic music. When mixes had soul, creating various kinds of genres and personalities. Bug Beat. I was starting to get worried i havent gave starts to nothing yet, and despite this not being my favourite yet, it definitely started perfectly taking me aback and vibed through it. Im feeling generous today
thank god i didnt play this in the car for others
meh, pouring rain was ok. i also listened to their them bones cover lol
that perfect oldies music from old movies. Really i can see what a breakthrough that must have been, so much that it laid the path for countless genres to come. And maybe so good that the boomers decided at some point no one deserves these breakthroughs anymore
Interesting. It does sound like movie or even game soundtracks, probably because of the ballad character
a nice listen, a bit too generic to me, but its like a mix of alternative bands i like with some tunes more aggressive like get free, outtathaway, in the jungle and 1969 but tuned down so i can play this to my normie friends. Good to have around!
The first tracks were a nice stroll on the boulevard… overall a nice cozy album!
i like rock music :) thats what my profile says, thats what i say. It's a happening that i also like the longer songs since many are short, like all over the world, the happening. oh and is she weird. The intrumentals really remind me of big alternative bands, but the lyrics are a little out of synch for me.
ok it was not so bad, after i procrastinated this for so long. But im not into French so much :( The eponymous track is actually really good
a nice soul album too, but much more cheesy than What's going on. i liked the instrumental version of when did you stop loving me the most tbh
a classic alternative album, and as a fan of this genre the album was recommended to me before. Though, im more of a alternative metal fan, so it wasnt really my tempo. I liked today, disarm as it was more theatrical, mayonaise and luna
I am ashamed to admit this is my first album I fully listen from them because it got recommended first, hope it doesn't influence me later. Now of course I know who they are and that there are better things to come, and maybe listening this first is more organic, like chronologically seeing it as it was. It is probably here because of the historical value. More like a skill show-off for the time than a genre defining album like the expectated one from such a big band.
Yes, I do listen to the Smiths. But i do not wear a blouse :) Never had no one ever, I know it’s over and bigmouth strikes again were the top 3, but there were many other very good tracks, surprising even that it had a big percentage of the album I enjoyed. Win through consistency
I actually enjoyed it more than I thought when i started listening with a slight prejudice. But being able to list so many known artists into a piece is actually epic
I already had the privilege to have Everybody wants to rule the world in my playlist, and also to get reminded of Shout, and even discover new gems like The working hour. Or it is even an album I liked with a high percentage of it as a whole
its a more upbeat grunge album. I stick to heavier ones like aic: I liked more late songs in the album like from Garden, Porch, Jeremy, Release. I appreciate it is a an alternative album to ones already main stream like Nirvanas.
Nice to listen to in the background. From the tracks 3 to 6 I really enjoyed it.
This Is the Day was worth the listen, and its a short album anyways
Its crazy that their best song had to be community submitted. This is a more an album before Out of time, both in time and how much i appreciate it. The one i love is a good track doe. I liked Green the album more
They get bonus points because they are Finnish, thought I wouldn't have guessed. For Until I get you I almost would rate it 4, but lets consider it 3.25 . Now i read the tragic story, well damn as I said, they really fitted with the 80's us rock scene. Too bad their journey was cut short. They really had potential.
A legendary album. The Sound and atmosphere of the 80’s was proeminent in many songs, and besides the hit Sweet Dreams, i felt it in the first 3 and last 3 tracks. Almost a 5/5
Meh
need to revisit

This is definetly one of the most eccentric albums out there. And its also a whole piece, I cant really pick just some tracks because this whole album is an experience, combining different genres and fusing tastes together, from rock, country, jazz and electro themes. I really appreciate the creative process
Delightful. I’ve been for long waiting for a classic masterpiece to get recommended to my feed.
Although alternative rock is my favourite genre I came with before getting here, I'm starting to notice what a lot of comments say: too many generic albums. I mean I can enjoy this for being my kind, but I know there are more unique albums out there that people trying to diversify their music portofolio would enjoy, let alone those interested that might find some new style.
Ok, towards the end it gets decent, with The Slim (again least streamed too), Slick and Fortune Teller. The first ones are loud mashes of other bands, changing at the middle slightly, becoming more balanced. Idk it's fine, just not really to die for.
This is the face of music. There isnt much I can add other than of course you need to listen to this until you die.
Also a cozzy album i would play as background if I owned a coffee shop.
a nice ambience choir
Country is not my thing, but this is so chill that i cant be mad at it! And i actually have a rule: if an album has a track that literally gives me goosebumps it gets at least 4 stars. That track is Busy Being Blue
Finally I can peer this profile towards my actual musical taste, with the help of the cover band of the book called metal. And I’ve been waiting to fully listen to one of these albums
Ok so this is one of the most unique albums I've listened, beautiful jazz combined with electro elements, vibing into funk. Is just so relaxing, like I rinsed my brain of the rot of the day.
For a heavy metal enjoyer, this album is a must. The grungy speedy musicals made me wanna buy a bike. It's loud and almost cliche like, but it really works, sometimes you just need something loud and nasty in a good way to rinse your brain and let it unplug
I tend to rate higher these alternative genres to the mainstream, mostly because they amaze me how well individualised and full of character were for their time. But by now I heard better similar albums to this one here.
I cant believe one day prior I was hoping for a REM album and it delivered. A great gift

I gotta admire the fact that RHCP has an really unique sound for the alternative genre, and this is their emblem album. Of course I already knew a part of it.
I really cant wrap my head around the fact that this album was made in the 60s. It truly is gate-opening, genre defining. It was softer than Electric Ladyland, that im on my way to update to 5 stars since it was my favourite, but it was the first album this site recommeded me so I didnt know where to stand.
Good thing I was already feeling like shit and I didn't want to tarnish one of the better albums in my queue, but this was not that bad. I've read the comments saying this is another pretentious album, and eh, I alreadyt heard worse of this kind here and I'm not even too ahead. If I were to hear this in one of those performative clothing shops or cafes, I wouldn't mind. But on this list eh, there are many worse.
Thing is, I really like the intrumentals, but that singing is indeed weird. The songs I liked were Two Dancers i and especially ii and Empty Nest because there was another singer, but even Through The Iron Gate the other singer showed some real skill, so idk I guess they tried to be weird with this album. These songs save the rating, some golden nuggets in a landfill. It wouldn't surprise me if they would have better works but this page didn't choose them as I've seen in other cases.

Not so note worthy, I somehow ended up reading some comments beforehand and I kind of agree with them now. The ones with an interesting vibe were Lion Thief, Space and Liquid Bird. The rest is pretty ambience for a coffee shop.
This album taugh me many things. It's like the epitome of music of my parents' generation, but sadly I don't think they got to listened too much at their time since we are not from USA, and even though this is a central element, in that time it actually was a dream. And it's all it is now. That's what I learned, about a very proeminent american singer, that when I saw how many albums has presented here, more than artists that got even to our plains in the generations I mentioned, I wondered what's on him. But this music is more than that, I really love the old school rock, the poetics, everything. Well, his music reached out to me here, now. And this is exactly what this site has to deliver. Because I'm waiting for new gems, even though I also wait to support the ones I already know.
5 stars certified songs: Adam Raised a Cain, The Promised Land, Streets of Fire (which also taught me not to rely on the most played, since this was the least streamed on the platform I listened to) and the eponymous song.
I expected this to be some country, but it's a mix of alternative country rock, kinda just how it says on its page. I guess if I get to play rdr2 and I want to feel more melancholic and alt instead of badass, I will keep this album in mind :D
I wouldn't call this generic, as I really feel some emotion emanating from these tracks, but just not enough to be very memorable. Overall a nice listen, it's worth a try. Overall 3.4, 4 and playlist worthy: Wish You Well, Stars n'Stripes, Grace, Fuzzy. Maybe I will come back and get to love this more
So credit due to the fact I didn't know what shoegaze was before this. Then the nexy day I saw a youtuber I sometimes watch released his own shoegaze album, so there's that. It's a really artsy alternative rock with a mix of other genres and instumentals like jazz or opera.
Creative, but not really my thing. It feels like it really is someone's passion but I'm pretty much an otsider with no context so it feels rather dull. Some of these I found even annoying at times, but let's pick 3 fine ones: Goddess on a Hiway, Hudson line and Holes. But they dont't make it to the revisit playlist. Sorry
Its nice to listen to an alternative band with a female lead for once. Though, I didnt really feel the album until more later and less played on that platform at least tracks, like Voodoo Dolly, Sin in my heart and Monitor
I really love this, it's the first time I hear their music but it intsantly transported me to that diskoteka era my mom told me about, even with parts of blues. Too bad she didnt get to live the full experience of that era, and me, I long for a time I didnt even live. But that's why this music was special, it traveled in time to reach me. I love it
Interesting, but not really my thing. This album also combines different genres and styles, most proeminently the African influence, but there is what seems like counrty and even disco at parts. You Can Call Me Al is at least a 4 star song and goes in the playlist. In the rest I didn't really feel it.
Now I made the somewhat problematic habit of reading comments to learn more and don't go on what it sounds like to me alone. And about the 'culture appropations' comments, I hope that things have tempered down since the years they were made. I discovered and love too many black artists on this site to let this bs treat them like some alien species. The hypocrisy as always. Plus, there worked genuine African artists so... I would give higher rate just in spite, but as I said I didn't really feel it and that's more important to me, otherwise I would be just like the one star hypocrites.
I'm going to be honest, I'm pretty much an amateur, so pretty much all I can say is that is weird and more importantly I did not really enjoy it. Some were ok, and even the jazz was fine to me, but didn't stand out. However the off beat parts, nah, i don't feel I need to waste my time before I die. The comments gave me some info so of course I have even more distain if it truly is pretentios artsy for that certain crowd, but all that matters is that honestly I will not search this again.
For some reason, I'm not even at the 100th album but this platform already gave me most soul albums from lesser known artist, and oh my god I love it. I really discovered I enjoy this genre a lot, alongside my metal side. Oh well. I even heards some... artists from today sample this music. Oh well again.
Like just 3 days ago I got the Sister Sledge album, and althrough I loved that one more, this one slays as well. Is just so smooth, it really is that music that takes you in another world/time, but as a whole a little less memorable to me. I like how it morphs into rock towards the end after the disco party, like in What It Comes Down To ,Sunshin Summer Breeze and ends so softly with the Highways of My Life. Definetly a good mix.
Of course. Who doesn't love this. And the other songs are pure 80s vibes. And they are norsk. What more can I ask for?
I like sampling mixes, but this is not your tipical album. It's interesting, but it seems like more the artist trying to explore mixing different sounds an rhythms, prominently the tribal ones. After that first track, its actually ok as ambient, just as ot says on this page (especially tracks 2 to 5). Regiment and Help Me Somebody are actually decent tracks, at least 3.5, but the rest nah. They save tehm ig
It sounded similar to Portishead and Everything but the girl which I discovered here and began to love on this site, but mostly the ones with Tracey Thorn (Protection and Better Things which were my favourites and go to the playlsit). But even the rest was fine, and the weirdest one I liked is Spying Glass, and even instrumental ones like Weather Strorm and Heat Miser were chill as ambince.
Not really a 4 album, and I've seen they have even greater works, but I noticed this site is weird sometimes and favours earlier works, the others being subbmited by community, so let's say a 3.6-3.7 so I wil give a 4 because I discovered this genre and I'm getting rock fatigue
I love the 80s, I'm sure I was there in my previous life, and this is the personification of that era. No West Side Girls, but this album was a real treat, there is not a single one I would skip, and most will save in my playlist. Remarkable: What Have I Done To Deserve This, Shopping, It's A Sin ofc, Heart and King's Cross
This is surely a classic folk album and for that time it sure was a precious gem. I liked the classic find Wild World, Miles From Nowhere, Sad Lisa and Longer Boats. But I got triggered by But I Might Die Tonight and the star of the album Father And Son, so this turns it down for me, and for the time really. More like a historical listen
