1001 Albums Summary

Fucking awesome. Chill, intricate sound that stays consistent but is explored through different instruments and styles. What can I say, I'm a sucker for music that's designed for peaceful dozing

Come on what is this list? How can you have Jethro Tull but not Tenacious D? These creators clearly don't know musical influence if it slapped them in the face

Sounds like music for disenfranchised oompa loompas, not my bag

Makes me wish I was around during the nineties/noughties for some raving

I presume this was seminal at the time but it does sound like Cuban stock music now. I do like that every third word is either bailar or cha-cha, really adds to the cruise ship dance floor feeling. Bossa nova still wins the Latino music style for me.

What a lovely, strange sound. I liked how it floated between so many genres between songs and even within songs. Will give this another listen!

Fine, fine and inoffensive and forgettable, like a ladder painted white or a man called David Gray

Like Adam and the Ants but with fewer references to 17th century crime

To quote a reel, "hi, I'm Paul Simon" "hi Paul Simon, I'm Art Garfunkel" "what the fuck"

Started off well but then it felt like they forgot they were trying to record an album with songs on it. Occasionally, they'd remember about the songs, but then get distracted again. Really really can't wait to listen to the other *four* Sonic Youth albums on this list.

Surprisingly interesting sound but overlaid by a voice that I cannot stand. I like their Ian Sterling Cbeebies era trims too (I know I can't really say much), was expecting to hear a Hacker T Dog collab

I really enjoyed this album, definitely my kind of music. And also very glad to have found them, discovery of new artists for me is part of the whole reason to do this!

Hardcore star trek

Well, this really sent me down a Western Africa griot rabbit hole. I found the deeply layered instrumentals almost hypnotic. But, his voice is a bit grating, like I'm doing an internship in a minaret.

I went into this ready to hate it as I strongly detest the way Morrissey sings but I was pleasantly surprised! He seemed less 'Morrisseyish' and the instrumental was great, especially the bass. But then the wobbly vocalising started again which dropped a star for me. And then, despite not really listening to lyrics, my ears did catch 'the last truly British people you know'. Lovely. Oh and 'England for the English'. Also lovely. Makes it hard to enjoy music when it's overlaid by a warbling Jingoist. Everyone has a right to have their views. Everyone has a right to sing about those views. I have the right to not listen to it.

James Brown didn't need to mog to aura farm

I found this a tiring listen, really triggered my Streets/Tame Impala collab PTSD. How can an album be so all over the place and so repetitive at the same time?

No one ever expects the vibraphonist

I'm literally unemployed, I have hours and hours and hours free, and this was still a waste of my time. Sounded like someone trying to flunk their GCSE music.

Unexpectedly dull, had to check I wasn't listening to Led Zeppelin by accident at one point

Damn this was a great album but FUCKING DRUM SOLOS GOD I HATE THEM!!!

Zuton Who Are...... The Zutons? I've Never Heard Of...... The Zutons. I Like...... The Zutons. Zuton Zuton Zuton Zuton Zuton Zuton Zuton Zuton Zuton By Thomas J P Breare

Absolute classic, my hips were moving

The Beatles? Nah, never heard of them

Didn't do anything for me, looks like a comfy hat though

"John, I told you, you can't keep on publishing recordings of your therapy sessions!"

Kind of annoying

I like to think this is the kind of music the joker would make with batman moshing in the crowd. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would and wins the award for best song names

Fine, never listened to Radiohead before so I'm looking forward to their other albums

Come on Paul, two first names was a bit much but four is just greedy. Leave some for the rest of us

Is something that gets better the more you listen to it just conditioning yourself to like bad music? Not sure. Either way, this got better with the second listen.

Like an Englishman floating along the Bayou

Sounded like a low-budget karaoke version of itself, at times sung by kermit and at others by robbie williams

Had to relisten because I was raging at mariokart too much the first time. I didn't find it that inspiring but my head was nodding so it gets a 4

Like a compilation of Bond songs but written for the bad guys.

Ah so this was the era when bands got greasy trims and tried to be oasis

"Hey Alexa, I want to start a cover band but I've only got an 80's soundboard and a 50 year old chain smoker for vocals, what song should I do?" "Help?"

Me and Michael have had a bit of a fraught relationship over the years but I think we're finally getting into the honeymoon period. This album was good

Bit too close to screamo for me but I enjoyed Fists of Love

Like my mum trying to leave the house, lots of faffing around

Four men take their shirts off and speak nonsense for an hour

I liked the first song...

Annoying

Listened to this whilst going through a backlog of train delay repay claims, perfect

Very country, surely it's not a coincidence that we get this a day after she died too right?

Maybe its just the comedown but this is really discombobulating me

Sounds like a DJ at a children's party

Can't stand heavy metal, power metal, black metal, death metal or speed metal but thrash metal is really different, very unique

Her voice is amazing! Such a strong rapper and can sing beautifully too. It's like rock with strings

Naughty opera. Does have some great songs though

Sounds like the Beatles!

Fine

Felt like there might've been some drama going on behind the scenes... nah, probably just imagining it

I'm just a dog for double bass I think, other songs were good too

Hopefully Potter doesn't find this review
