Pretty far outside my usual music tastes, but I am a fan of The Weeknd, so it didn’t feel too jarring. I bet after a few relistens, I would love this album. But as a first-time listener, it’s a 3/5 for me.
I’ve never been much of a Prince fan, and this album didn’t change that for me.

While I do enjoy Clayton’s guitar work, I find this album drags in many places. I can appreciate long groove sections as much as the next guy, but it feels like some fat could have been trimmed off on this one. It makes for a long listen. 3/5.

As a very casual Eminem listener, it’s pretty clear to me that this album was just the beginning, and there was a lot of room for improvement. Not my favorite. 2/5.
Once again, not my usual listening habit, and for songs that were mostly new to me (aside from Hey Ya!, of course), I did find myself enjoying most of the album. I liked The Love Below side more, with its Jazz parts being particularly enjoyable. If it wasn’t so long, it would probably be a 4/5, but being a double album, it’s a 3/5 for me.
I’m really not sure what to think about this album. A bizarre set of songs, even for the early 80s. I didn’t hate it, but I definitely didn’t love it. Probably not one I’ll re-listen to ever again. 2/5.

As someone completely unfamiliar with The Bees, I found myself enjoying this album more than I thought I would. It’s chill, mellow, and surprisingly well produced. Not my favorite, but still a nice listen. 3/5.
Rap is still decidedly not my cup of tea, but there’s no doubt in my mind that 90s rap is 1000x better than today’s rap. I didn’t hate this, but I also have no desire to listen to it again in the future. In that aspect, it’s a 2/5 for me, though I’m sure rap fans find this to be a pinnacle of the genre.
Jazz is jazz, and while it’s not usually something I seek out, I never find that I dislike (most of) it when I hear it. It’s not a bad album, just not a part of my normal listening habits. 3/5.
Still not my favorite genre, and it goes without saying that Kanye’s a pretty horrible person. That said, I can separate the artist and from the art, and damn if he didn’t make some catchy songs. 3/5.

The Offspring were a staple of 90s punk/alternative, and this album shows why. Packed full of energy and emotion, this whole album flys by in no time. My only slight demerit is that it all starts to sound like the same song. 4/5.

Probably the most enjoyable rap album I’ve listened to so far on this journey, I found my self head bobbing or tapping along to a lot of the songs. Once again, 90s rap far, far exceeds today’s garbage. Rap is still not my favorite genre though, and this still doesn’t top a 3/5.
