1001 Albums Summary

very pretty. i love the piano especially in sad lisa

Very long very jammy. whipping post is a great one

absolute banger. take five is a classic. this is my first time listening all the way through the album, I think it's a 4 for me.

so good. classic. big band big sounds. highlights are Come Rain or Come shine and Let the Good Times Roll

I'm halfway through and there are definitely some bangers (running up that hill, for example) but I don't think it's really my style in general. waking the witch is pretty insane, giving demonic another brick in the wall vibes. ok jig of life is pretty great too. maybe the second half if better, or maybe it's an acquired taste. going to need to re-listen to the album. ok wow hello earth is insane, maybe this is a great album and i was just stupid before. absolute demonic album, in a very cool way.

Very Wonder coded

meh, some albums just aren't for me and this is one of those

Very average. Never thought “wow i could really go for some Billy Joel”

unfortunately, i don't think i'm a big fan of "heartland rock." highlights were Further on (Up the Road) and The Rising.

Soul-wrenching. 5 stars, easily the best and most consistently great album I've listened to yet.

Elvis Costello really confused my brain when I heard his name. Not because of his music, but for whatever reason when I look at this album cover my brain thinks he is Austin Powers. Also the name "Elvis Costello" makes me think of both Elvis and Abbott and Costello, so I had no idea what this album was gonna be like. Miracle man is good. There's some strange country twang in this album (pedal steel guitar in stranger in the house).

you already know. ☆☆☆☆☆

The album goes from fun and mostly palatable and gets progressively insane until it culminates in the final song Voodoo Dolly, which sounds a little like if you put knives into a garbage disposable and turned it on. I liked it. (Spellbound, Arabian Nights, and Halloween were highlights). originally I gave this a 3 and then went back and gave it a 4. It's so haunting and eerie I keep coming back and listening to this album.

Gallows Pole thru Bron-Y-Aur Stomp is one of their best 4 song runs.

I'm not sure if the reason I don't like this is that I don't like reggae punk or because I don't like the vocals on the album, but I did not like it much

aerosmith meet whitesnake. i think i hate the vocals?

beautiful vocals. sounds like something you'd here in a cafe. not sure if they doobie-doobie-doos are doing it for my though. not my favorite jazz album, not my least either.

I did not think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. Some of the best hip hop beats I've ever heard. I liked the Maryland call out in Vibes and Stuff and North Cakalacky in Scenario.

Not my favorite of Adele's but there are some bangers for sure. The Water Under the Bridge-River Lea run is sick.

now this is an album that makes you think "huh?" "what?" "how??" Zappa was ahead of his time. hot meat hot rats hot cats hot damn

If you like hard rock/punk you will like it. If not, you won't.

Voice like butter, instrumentation like leonard bernstein

This was a nice break from autotune after the strokes’ and charli’s new albums

thought I would enjoy it more but this mostly fell into the background for me

Visceral and poetic

Boppy dancy salsa

when a show starts a riot you know it's good

very weird very funky i like

uhhhh idk about this one

the bombs going off in rainy day in june is a fun/dark twist. this album is kind of like the zip bid dee doo wop of the 60s.

hmm difficult to describe. first time through I thought it was awful, second time through I'm realizing there are some redeeming things, although melody is not one of them

pretty sad stuff, not really my vibe but good stuff

wow this is great

not bad not great. first time hearing of "shoegaze"

fun to actually hear Courtney Love's band. pretty meh for me overall though

Wowee what a protest album. This shit slaps, and I'm not really a big ska fan.

Banger

Some of the best music ever written and one of the music world’s greatest tragedies :(

Tickled my brain funny

This was a fantastic album

Meh, not my genre

i hate to say it because i do love some of these songs but i think they overdid the whole guitar + organ thing

Gonna have to come back and rate this after i listen

Pretty good, good times is a classic

RIP Dolly

Really hits all of the topics. Great beats

It’s aight

Gritty, stripped down, thumping. 10/10

Funny how British accents seem to disappear in music

Uh no thanks haha

So edgy 😡

motion picture soundtrack is amazing

I recognized way more songs than I thought I would. These guys seem to like to drag out one phrase into a whole song

some of it is good, some of it is meh

Never though I liked reggae very much but damn if this ain’t great stuff

Never heard it before, but loved it.

formative album for me. both great and depressing as hell

There’s a reason he’s the goat

Pretty standard blue jam

Meh, whiny white boys

Hmmm nothing really stood out here

some real bangers on this one. very spacey and prog rock

Nostalgia core + great songs

Frank Sinatra meets Sufjan Stevens meets Gordon Lightfoot meets Pink Floyd?

The working class hero cover out of nowhere was a fun twist

Interesting concept to mix tango and electronic music. It mostly faded to the background but maybe that’s the intent? Would listen again

The children were fun in some of the songs

Another formative album for me, love Jack White. Freedom at 21’s music video is a fun one

They really did a lot here

Uhhhh naw

Better than the last Bruce

I knew almost none of these and loved almost all of these

Mega banger. I don’t think Judy want you tho my guy.

Great stuff honestly. Funny how this era of hip-hop has become the group’s highest rated genre

Wow, just wow. It’s so good

Wow the whiplash from the last album (great) to this album (uh, bad?) is crazy

Great 90s

Bluesier than I thought it would be

Spooky stuff ey?

This was….interesting
