Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Jul 28 2026

5/5 Some of my all time favorite Stones songs all packed into one album.

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Jul 29 2026

Fun bass lines and some interesting musical passages, but overall I did not get the vibe. The album for me was just fine. Nothing too memorable for me.

Moon Safari by Air
Jul 31 2026

Very easy, airy electronic grooves. This is literally the album we put on when having people over to visit and we just want to chat without distracting music. I do like it. But I never out it on to just listen to. This was a different experience.

5/5 I had a lot of fun revisiting this classic from the days when MTV was still (somewhat) about music. I watched the live version for this review and it did not disappoint. The banter, musicianship, and perspective of Nirvana scratches a certain itch for me (as it does for many others, I know). It took me a while to come around to this album when I was younger but I remember really enjoying this then and it was just as wonderful revisiting it for this listen. The soundscapes feel so full and rich with Smear lending himself to complement Cobain on guitar. Grohl and Novoselic play their parts perfectly for this stripped down compilation. The whole package comes together to complement the loose, off key delivery of Cobain. Love it or hate it, the popularity of this album ( and this band) is undeniable.

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Aug 03 2026

4.2/5 I always thought SP brought an interesting take on creating soundscapes and some of their arrangements really strike a chord with me. This album has several high points for me (Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, Geek USA, and Mayonaise). Love the unique sound of this era of Smashing Pumpkins and this is one of their best.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Aug 04 2026

5/5 Some damn good grooves and cool music. Loved it!

Steve McQueen by Prefab Sprout
Aug 07 2026

1.4/5 Not for me. I would have rather died not hearing this.

Fragile by Yes
Aug 08 2026

5/5 Roundabout brought me here a long time ago and I was blown away by the rest of the album as well. Steve Howe is a legend.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Aug 09 2026

3.8/5 Like a warm hug. I’ve never listened to the whole thing but have heard a couple tracks before. Father and Son gets me every time.

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Aug 12 2026

2.8/5 Some nice songs. A few boring ones, but it was good overall.

Nixon by Lambchop

Funeral by Arcade Fire

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters

This album should not be on the list. It is just fine. Nothing to remember. Wish I could forget the Pink Floyd cover.

Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Aug 24 2026

Whoa! I’ve never traversed so many emotions throughout the listening of an album. I initially felt very unnerved and believed Trout Mask Replica would be unlistenable. I nearly DNF’d. After Ella Garu I paused to learn about the albums significance. For myself knowing about the polyrhythmic melding of the instruments was a necessary piece to finally unlocking how to hear this. The initial tracks are admittedly harder to listen to than some of the later tracks in my opinion. Listening for the grating and meandering rhythms to overlap and find one another was great and led to some really interesting musical passages. If art is supposed to make you feel something, this definitely hit the mark. Disgust to curiosity to disbelief to joy. It’s disgusting. It’s weird. It’s interesting. Very fun!

Dimebag’s playing is a 5/5. The domination fantasy lyrics are unfortunately so corny that it detracts from the brilliant guitar playing. Music for fragile boys who worry about other people thinking they’re “alpha.”
