Album Summary

Body Talk is the seventh studio album (fifth internationally released) by Swedish singer Robyn, released on 22 November 2010 by Konichiwa Records. Robyn first announced in early 2010 that she would release three mini-albums throughout the course of 2010. However, it was later announced that a full-length album would be released instead of a third mini-album. The first two mini-albums of what was dubbed the Body Talk series, Body Talk Pt. 1 and Body Talk Pt. 2, were released in June and September 2010. While being a separate studio album in its own right, the full-length release also serves as a compilation album, containing the "best songs" from the first two entries in the Body Talk series in addition to five new songs. In certain territories, the new songs were also available separately as an extended play released the same day, titled Body Talk Pt. 3. The four songs and two acoustic versions from the project that were excluded from the original track listing were later included on the German iTunes and 2019 Record Store Day vinyl versions of the album. In October 2019, the album was placed at number eight on Pitchfork's list of "The 200 Best Albums of the 2010s". In 2020, the album was ranked 196 on Rolling Stone's list of 500 greatest albums of all time. In 2024, the album was ranked 100 on Apple Music's 100 Best Albums of All Time list. As of 2013, combined sales of the three parts of Body Talk series were 170,000 copies in the United States.

Good pop and dance album with several great tracks "Fembot", "Dancing on My Own" and "Call Your Girlfriend". Overall the quality is ok, even on the "weaker" tracks and the stuff is catchy and you know it.

This is pop in a splendidly true form. The production is eclectic, with some odd choices here and there - some hideous clipping and distortion really pull you out of the vibe. The vibe is definitely there, though - upbeat music with less-than-upbeat mood and lyrics. There are some stand-out tracks. Dancing on my own is great, but it isn't the best. Call your girlfriend is. Without doubt, hands down one of the best pop tracks of the past 20 years.

Yes please. More of this kinda pop. Robyn is fantastic, although this album is a little long, being partially a combo of 2 EPs. Great album, even with the longness. A worthy addition to the list. My personal rating: 4/5 My rating relative to the list: 5/5 Should this have been included on the original list? Yes.

Wow actually never clicked this wasn’t on the original list. Modern pop masterpiece. With Dancing on my own up there with the greatest songs of the 21st century.

Lebsian music. Respect. It's time for me to give a pure pop album some flowers because this had my attention front to back. It helps that the dugudugudugu synths here do not sound like complete dogshit but are produced well and used in a way that fits with other elements built around it. homo peetter album heheh

Bubblegum pop meets dancehall. It's fun! It overstays its welcome!

I was skeptical going in, because the only song I knew of the album (Dancing On My Own) was not something I ever enjoyed. But that skepticism vanished quickly. Body Talk is simple, easy on the ears, and infectiously produced. I really enjoy that clear Scandinavian minimalism to the production: clean synths, precise beats, no clutter. I'm not aware if this is seen as a pop-classic, but it might have to be?

More of this super-engineered Swedish pop. It's fine but sort of reminds me of those videos where some Japanese restaurant turns out an obsessively detailed but weirdly askew version of some American comfort food.

Pure pop; not my thing, but not terrible.

I really don't like the album art. It sort of does match the music, though. The album feels like a complete mismatch of form and content. Shiny over produced sdynths and beat but a sad regretful sounding girl. All of that said the whole album is quite solid catchy pop; I found it perfectly listenable.

It's good for what it is, just not a type of music I find that interesting. 3 stars.

lmao, I’m sorry but this album was so weak the main list already has Janelle Monae’s fembot album that’s way better I’ll even take Britney Spear’s steam punk era over this as a Robin myself, she’s pretty far from my favorite musician I share a name with, that would have to go to Cavetown, tho I guess I’ll take her over Thicke who’s hit song is just straight up daterape - 5/10

A pretty upbeat energetic pop dance album. Dancing on my own is a great pop song and I enjoyed that one. The rest of the album fell pretty flat and wasn’t that enjoyable for me which was pretty disappointing given how fun the first song was. 4.1/10

Surely one day I'll listen to one of these dance pop albums and I'll have an emotional response stronger than "Yeah that was pretty good". Anyways, yeah, that was pretty good. Strong 2/5.

Electropop, synth-pop, dance-pop. No me gusta el pop comercial. Un 2.

I never liked 'Dancing On My Own' to begin with, and the rest of the LP follows suit. Juvenile lyricism, typically repetitive/bland pop songwriting, instrumentals that sound like Ableton presets – Robyn even manages to somehow suck the life out of Röyksopp's vibrant artistry on their collaboration. This is a one-hit wonder LP at best, and even the one hit should've been left behind a while ago.
