1001 Albums Summary

Meh. I know Brown was a talented, high energy performer, but this album didn’t deliver.

Decent mellow singer-songwriter album.

I can see why it did well with the poignant lyrics, but it’s basically a spoken word album. Rap without solid beats is hard to listen to repeatedly.

It was an okay oldie album. Didn’t seem that special.

Some songs were decent rock, others were strangely just talking with guitar backup. Not enough rock to make me like the country.

Definitely one of the better pop-funk-disco albums of the 80s.

Not good. Lead just kinda talks during the songs, not in a spoken word or rap way, but just lazy not singing. Would be better fully instrumental, as some songs almost were.

Obviously HC is a classic, and so are some other songs I didn’t know were Eagles’ songs.

Foreign language albums are tough to judge on lyrics, obviously, but the rhythms were nice and I enjoyed it.

Kind of a mellower pop-rock from Radiohead. More like Coldplay than pre 2k grunge.

This felt like the ambient soundtrack of a sonic game. Fun, techno-y, and mostly instrumental.

Amazing voice and awesome afro-American album. Variety is great and the click songs are unique. I don’t even mind not understanding half of the album that isn’t English.

When I struggle to think of memorable features of an album the day after listening it was probably generic 70s pop stuff.

50s songs are often short and boring. For that time maybe this was exciting but not anymore.

The funky jazz beats and sax rifts are great, but the vocals disappoint. Would be better as an instrument album.

Talented, yes. Kinda boring by today’s standards, also yes. Music from the 50s/60s just moved at a slower pace. His blues/jazz is great tho.

Classic 70s/80s (harder) rock band.

I’ve always enjoyed Sting’s work and his stuff with The Police is great.

I don’t like high-pitched 80s girl-band pop. Their’s is probably some of the more tolerable though.

I think it was some decent older heavy rock.

Entertaining R&B / reggae album. Ms. Lauryn Hill has a wonderful voice so the singing shines past the great rap.

He is quite the mellow singer/songwriter. There is no urgency in his music, just peacefully goes through the words. I know he inspired many cause I’ve enjoyed covers of some of his songs.
