Another man I've been senselessly prejudiced against for years, I'm glad to get a chance to listen to him. I Like his raspy voice, a bit like CCR's John Fogarty. Enjoyed Maggie May, probably the only one I was properly familiar with. Class mandolin section near the end. Similarly liked Mandolin Wind. Shit I didn't know Rod did I Know I'm losing you! Great Song and great cover.
Enjoyed it, would listen again. Not as crazy/flamboyant as living in America.
Did not pay too much attention, used as background music. Should listen again for its own sake.
Quite explicit, sometimes seems to be just for the sake of outrage and shock value rather than because it actually adds anything. Hard-hitting and candid on the non-skit tracks (of which there were too many for my taste), would prefer more in this style. Really enjoyed Stan, The way I am and I'm back, all of which I knew from before. Perhaps the other tracks may grow on me, but as already stated, the overly explicit nature of some tracks, apparently just for the sake of being that, makes me hesitant to bother listening to the whole album again.
Loving Santana's collaboration on the title track, along with the percussion. Great combination. Awesome singing and guitar by Bonnie Rait on 'I'm in the mood'. Otherwise great guitar work and vocals throughout the album.
Just don't like Bono and find it hard to separate art from artist... poor excuse, I know. Can't help but enjoy 'With or without you',. I like the guitar and drums throughout the album. Overall not that impressed, 2 stars.
Love Cooke's voice, backing band and the crowd's interaction from the opening track. Twisitin' the night away and Having a party were especially lively and exciting. I'd say it was unreal to be in attendance. 4.5 stars?
I can definitely hear Buckley's use of his voice as an instrument, like Robert Plant without the wailing. Lovely use of vibraphone and guitars. Great energy, vibraphone and yelling in Gypsy Woman. Like Jim Morrison. Must listen again.
Not a massive fan on first listen. A bit like the Smiths if I didn't like them. May grow on me, but won't be jumping to listen again.
Cool album art, especially for this kind of music. I want to enjoy this, but it's a bit messy on the first take. I suppose I've come to prefer Daft Punk's cleaner, less cluttered sound, at least for studying to. May enjoy more on another listen. Frontier Psychiatrist is a hell of a tune though.
Oh yeah, I like this. Great use of brass on the opening track, getting Beatles vibes. Absolutely love "I wasn't born to follow"! I knew it from Easy Rider, pleasantly surprised to hear it here.
Big fan of 'Girls and Boys' and 'Parklife' already. Lovely basslines and guitar. Very listenable album. I liked the more serious sound of 'This is a Low'.
Soft, mellow acoustic sound. Faded into the background as I worked to be honest. I like the singers gentle vocals.
Glad for an excuse to listen to some Portishead, been loving Glory Box on YT for a while now. Roads and Wandering Star were excellent. Beth Gibbons with the stellar vocals as usual.
Glad for an excuse to listen to the pogues. Love the traditional Irish elements on top of the more standard punk rock instruments. Gladly Shane MacGowan's voice doesn't sound as limp as it does in later recordings. Great brass, shouting and energy in 'Fiesta'. 'Medley: The Recruiting Sergeant / Rocky Road To Dublin / The Galway Races' is fantastic! Passionate lyrics, singing, drumming and yowing.
Huh it's considered one of their best works, and best albums ever. Rocks-off had some nice distorted section and horns piece. Liked Sweet Virginia backing singing and sax. ZZ top feel to Ventilator Blues opening guitar and Shake Your Hips. VB is a good vibe with that buiding sax and brass. Stop Breaking Down very like Led Zeppelin! Wailing, baby, hard guitar and harmonica. Great sound.
Fun album, Bongo bong is a banger! Enjoyed Manitira too. Lots of different languages and instruments, and a nice relaxed, easy sound. Would definitely listen again.

Not too enthusiastic about it tbh.. seems mellow but forgettably so. Student Demonstration Time was a welcome change of pace and tone. Cool vocal echo effects and guitar response to each line. Sounds like the beatles. Lookin' At Tomorrow was a good one too. Just fine overall.
Save The life Of My Child has cool synth sounds. Really solid album. America and Mrs Robinson are classics of course. I liked At the Zoo. Didn't have much time for Voices of the Old People this time..
Billy Bragg, whoever that is, has a strong, clear voice. I like his accent and his guitar playing isn't half bad either. Levi Stubbs' Tears stood out. Not that interesting overall, was glad to finish. Should probably listen again to do my man justice.
Cool! Glad to give these lads a spin but disappointed there's no Jimmy Page on this album. Solid opening track with Lost Women, savage bassline and harmonica. Great drums too. Over Under Sideways Down is a good one too, surprised I even knew these two tracks. after that the album was just ok, wasn't too stand outish, but may need another listen. With that said, I liked the closing track, Ever since the world began.
Always knew they were controversial from Relax; coulnt remember why so Im glad to listen to the whole album now. Great sound with the bass and synths. Reminds me of U2 a little bit. Enjoyed some of the tracks but a lot of them sound quite similar and I was glad to finish the album.
Yes! Wanted some Nick Cave on here. Very atmospheric and emotive singing, I enjoyed the collaborations with PJ Harvey and Kylie Minogue. The sombre tone wasn't what I wanted today, but the album is very good for the right mood.
Reminds me of Bowie in music and vocals. Was ok, not too mad about this genre.
They don't start lightly anyway.. More guitar and drums than I usually enjoy, but good to get a change every now and then. Not really my style I don't think. Misbeaten wasn't bad, saved by the cool guitar riff and background synth. The album warmed on me a little bit, but the whole thing wasn't on youtube, and I wasn't too sorry. The use of trumpets throughout the rock is fresh though.
Good album with great singing and music. Not really what I'm after today, but good shit. Particularly enjoyed Either Way I Lose
Kind of reminds me of a B-rate Beatles or Neutral Milk Hotel with lower sound quality. Don't really even want to finish it, but that may be because it's not great stuff for thesis work more than anything. Did not enjoy.
Fuck yeah, love this shit so much.
Wow, I'm surprised how fresh this sounds despite being over 50 years old. Must have been unreal at the time. great use of non-musical sound effects without sounding too busy or gimmicky. Sea Breezes is a lovely change, showing the band's diversity. Holy shit, I can't believe this was a debut!
Haha is it country or rock or folk? A welcome change to the usual anyhow. Really like this.
Was alright, a bit mellow for today, and I didn't listen very closely.
Thought it sounded like Massive attack/Portishead. Not bad, not a big fan of some of the covers, but alright.
I really like this a lot. I only know I wanna be adored and Fools Gold, but i can see the rest of the album growing on me.
It was fine, could well be the kind of thing I get more into if I listened a few more times.
Unbelievable stuff. Came across it myself a few weeks ago. It got me through my thesis. Very original sound.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of this. It's largely just noise, but not bad noise, but also not musical either. Giving it a second listen and still nothing is really standing out. Might enjoy it more if I gave it more attention.
Seems decent, again didn't engage me too much on the first listen.
This is really good. Hard-hitting and great beats. Long. Great shift to rock on Body count. Like the narrative interrmissions.
I love this album already. Listened to it a lot in NZ. I loved "For the Turnstiles" on this listening.
Enjoyed this album. Nice chill background music. Relaxing percussion and vocals.
Something different, nice casual alt music, played in the background so not super closely analyzed but would listen again.
Excellent album, haven't listened to coldplay, leasty of all early coldplay stuff. Great stuff.
A nice early recording from Dylan. Some classics on here, but nothing that stood out on the first play-through that would make me prefer these offerings. Strong close with Ballad of a tin man and Like a rolling stone.
Funky album, largely played as background sound during my Vancouver job search! Good accompaniment on a rainy day, though I should relisten to give it justice. Havona has some sick bass!
Delighted to open this one, been meaning to give it a listen for a while now. Hard opening with the squeaky balloon synth. Nuthin' but a "G" Thang is some banger, perfect. And I didn't realise Beastie boys had sampled A Nigga Witta Gun, love that beat. Brilliant album overall, very impressed.
Really nice chill alt-rock album. Enjoyed this on a Sunday morning.
Good album, nice and chill. Will probably listen again if i want something nice and smooth, would make great background music for a chill evening, though I'm sure there's lots to be gathered from a more focused listen through.
Wowow I didn't realised the modern lovers are from the 70s! I've been listening to Pablo Picasso for weeks and assumed it was post 2010. What a fresh sound for the era, so far ahead of their time. Can hear a similarity to The Velvet Underground's sound. Really an excellent album.
Not a big sound of this sound so far, not really my thing.
Did like this, will need to listen again to get a better idea of it
