Amazing album
Great album
Really enjoyed this, full of way more tunes than I expected and some great synth sounds.
Simple but very very effective
Like a not as interesting Throbbing Gristle.
Lots of bouncy tunes I enjoyed. It's hard to separate London Calling the track from the rest of the album when it's so well known from indie nights and such.
Drum machines that slap
Enjoyable listen 6.9
Interesting soundscaping on track one. Love the metallic soundsm
Good energy, didn't blow me away but was a nice vibe for the morning. 6.7
More albums need a directors commentary like the opening track of this. Absolute banger of an album. Great samples, great flow. Loved it 4.5
A bit lo-fi at times but a brilliant record all round.
A bit bloated but the highs are very high.
One of my favourites, rock/indie but keeps it interesting with blends of other genres.
Clearly a classic and important and such but so many of the tracks on it I much prefer other versions like Ray Charles' I Got A Woman or Little Richard's Tutti Frutti. Elvis versions all just seems so flat. I think I like him best when his vocal style really comes out.
Really enjoyed this, funky, psychedelic goodness.
So good
Track two with the heavy panning is an odd move. Maybe makes sense in context of the lyrics. First track was great though
I'd probably give it a 3.5 rather than a 3 but halves are not possible. Enjoyed a lot but not as much as other Kinks stuff I know.
Yep, good, I liked it.
I really really want to love this album. At the time it was raved about and as a band they're adjacent to so much stuff I like. But there's just something meh about it to me. I don't dislike it but it just literally washes over me. Which makes it above a 1, but not sure it's a 2.
Finally something that isn't dad rock. Great stuff.
Some good moments but generally couldn't care less
One of my favourites, rock/indie but keeps it interesting with blends of other genres.
Had to skip the first track half way, not a good sign. Parallel Universe was alright actually, similarly the others didn't already know were all more enjoyable. The famous ones just have seeped into my skin too much over the years of exposure
Sun always shines on TV is a banger. Overall great sound and had me bopping.
Mostly kinda boring, but Bad Moon Rising is a tune.
A bit boring, some fine tracks.
Might be the nostalgia speaking but this is a 5
Can't go wrong with this, really strong - great grooves.
This was great - just excellent vibes all the way through.
Nothing new here, but a good, easy listen.
A couple of standout songs but didn't do loads for me.
Short but good.
It's really a 4.5 but I couldn't give it a 5
Not my favourite B&S album but still pretty great. Some amazing songs on it for a debut album
It's gotta be a 5. Only thing I struggled with was that the well known songs are so well known and iconic it becomes hard to judge the album as a whole.
4.5 if I could give it. So many great tracks on this album including some of my favourite S&G (and all time) songs. Yet as a whole it's not my favourite of theirs - but damn it's good.
Enjoyed this, feels more like a 3.5 than a 4 but really good vibes. I was expecting overly cheesy/silly stuff based on knowing Bongo Bong, but the rest of the album is enjoyable.
It's been years since I last listened to this, but my opinion on them basically remains the same. They sound so so good for one song then I just get bored.
Clearly a classic and important and such but so many of the tracks on it I much prefer other versions like Ray Charles' I Got A Woman or Little Richard's Tutti Frutti. Elvis versions all just seems so flat. I think I like him best when his vocal style really comes out.
