Dennis Wilson feeding an invisible goat is one of the greatest mysteries in American history.
Fav tracks: wouldn't it be nice, I'm waiting for the day, lets go away for a while, god only knows, here today, I just wasn't made for these times, Caroline no
First "pub rock" album I've ever heard. Reminds me a lot of a few tracks off of London Calling. Was really hoping for an explanation of what's going on with the dudes knees :-\
An almost perfect album cover, ruined by the bands title in an ugly ass grey rectangle. Almost perfect.
The music itself though is perfect, or pretty goddamn close.
I find the album really enjoyable overall. Great riffs, Excellent bass grooves. A lot of attitude and personality in the vocal performances. The themes of the album do not hold up as well as some other new wave or punk projects at the time. The album is not saying a whole lot in its songwriting. But this was a few years before London Calling or Remain in Light so it gets a pass for me.
Only thing that really bugged me was track 6. It's a *very* unfaithful cover of Peaches. I haven't seen the Mario movie yet but I heard it on TikTok. This version is all about gawking at asses on the beach. Sexist and disgusting.
Feels like a old country tale told by a campfire. One of the best examples of storytelling through music in all of music.
What's all that shit on the cover art? Who the fuck is that dude? That dude is definitely not any of the bowl-cut white boys in The Kinks.
Some of the catchiest 60s pop rock I've had the pleasure of dissociating to. Fantastic shit really. Some genuinely fun and unique song topics. Ray Davies has a wonderful voice. Baroque pop vibes are nice.
Rarely do you see a more blunt and descriptive title for a record. This is about an hour of MURDER BALLADS.
Listen bud, guy who is thinking about trying Murder Ballads: Consider where you are at mentally. If you are not in a tip-top mental state, maybe skip Murder Ballads. This album is brutal. It's a great listen but I was not ready when I heard it.
Alright, now if you are ready to hear some f****d up s**t listen to this one. The tracks here are very cinematic if that makes sense. It is very descriptive of some of the worst concepts I have heard in music. Cave's writing is extremely verbose, but he has you hanging on every word. Fantastic record.
Album presented sufficient "hee-hee's"
ELO is one of the most agreeable bands, I feel. I get it too, space-rock-orchestra is a vibe. Some fantastic singles here. Despite Mr. Blue Sky being heavily overplayed in pop culture it is still so much fun. Genuinely impressive and detailed production for '77. It is a full 70 minutes and it feels like it. It is a pop rock record, not too wildly experimental anywhere(keep in mind this is from the perspective of a first listen in the 2020's). Yes it is corny, it's ELO, price of admission. Overall a good listen. I'd say between 3 and 4 stars but I'm nice.
This album sounded like some shit that would've been on my 2012 Pandora radio, but a hell of a lot catchier.
I had not seen Led Zeppelin I or II so I was completely lost and had no idea what was going on
Some songs I really dig on here. Some I didn't like at all. Worth the listen for sure.
Disclaimer: I do not speak Portuguese.
Really pleasant listen. Seems cool and important. Some genuinely gorgeous moments here.
I have been listening to this one for years. I'm a big fan of Sufjans work and this is my favorite of his. Such an incredibly well executed concept for an album.
Yeah love me some hippy shit. Dude had the riffs.
A track or two I didn't care for but overall a groovy, psychedelic rock record
I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected for sure. Some surprising bite to the political themes. ITEOTWAWKI(AIFF) slaps, but it's one of those songs that I heard too much as a child so I have trouble listening.
Good blues rock tunes, if that's what your into. I'm not a Stones guy I guess?
I hate Kanye West. I love Kanye West's music. I hate this album. Black Skinhead and Bound 2 are two of the most unique and appealing songs Kanye West has ever made. I also like New Slaves and Blood on the Leaves. Hold My Liquor can be okay in a certain mood. IMO the rest of the record can be skipped.
After hearing My Aim is True and now This Year's Model... I don't see much value in listening to Costello's music at this point. There a couple tracks here I can enjoy but most of what's here has me frustrated. Whether it's the outdated themes of male angst that I have seen handled with more depth and less misogynistic undertones in music released after and even before this album.
The back end of the record at least introduces a handful of tracks with more interesting song structure and direction. Night Rally actually is written very well, though the chorus at the end features another one of Costello's frankly annoying performances. Radio, Radio is probably my favorite off the album.
Metal, with record scratches!
I am not super familiar with metal, even less with nu metal. But I really enjoyed this one.
Catchy, fun, and weird. Such a fun album
Underworld has been sited as an influence by a lot of video game composers and yeah that influence can be felt.
This album has very simple songwriting, which may be a negative for some, but has undeniably allowed this to be a timeless classic.
This record was massively difficult to stream but definitely worth the trouble.
I usually use Tidal but has to listen on YouTube(link here)

Genuinely heartbreaking country ballads. Gorgeous arrangements. An incredibly talented singer.
As an Oklahoman, this is one of our only worthwhile exports
A solid debut of the blues rock they would go on to improve upon by the time they get to albums like Exile On Main St.
I don't know if I would say it's too important of an album in the grand scheme of rock and even the stones discography, but not at all a regrettable listen
While a handful of tracks have very hollow production, there are a handful of genuinely gorgeous moments here and consistently introspective and powerful writing.
RIP Leonard (but not actually because you were kind of a gross asshole)
Willie performed these songs beautifully and really made them his own. A great selection of standards performed with a lot of heart
Some tracks that were decent and nice to listen to, some that felt held baked, and at least a couple that had no redeeming qualities but the one throughline of the album was a very unexciting vocal delivery.
One of my favorite punk records
Sick riffs, title track is a highlight. Losing a full star due to the track "jailbait." Big yikes.
An album that helped shape my perspective like very few albums do, while being an incredibly vibrant and inventive album. Possibly the most important album of the 2010s.
Great example of the 80s. Some really fun bops like Tainted Love. But then you have "Sex Dwarf". Overall enjoyed this one.
This is a very obviously groundbreaking album with a lot of interesting influences. I am not a metal-head but I really liked this one
A very heavy and haunting experience, and one of the most interesting and textured rock albums I've heard.
Pop and Bowie really had a spark here
