Water From An Ancient Well
Abdullah IbrahimSimply delightful! The music just ebbs and flows like a river. Saved to my playlist

The lyrics are just so beautiful and her voice has so much gravity. The music is lilting. My mood is lifting
Even though the album seems to be hip hop, there are some nice chill songs like the collab with Norah Jones. Giving it 3 cos Heeeyyy Yaaaaaa
OMG Lime in the Coconut song. It has been years since I heard that song. Otherwise the album was good, in line with laidback 70s vibes
The first track was a live concert which reminded me of a time when people used coaches' whistles to make noise. The music is a mashup of mixed 90s music with rap, and lots of record scratches. It is interesting to hear how rap has evolved to its current form.
OMG after listening to this album, I went through their most-played songs. They sang the original version of Behind Blue Eyes that Limp Bizkit remade, one of my favorite songs. It has been a while since I heard the janky, cheerful, upbeat piano and flawed unsynthesized music. This is such a lovely time when music feels real compared to what is produced these days- a combination of various electronic beeps
Ah yes, the rap I am familiar with. I can see where Eminem's early rap albums got their flavor from, they were produced by Dr. Dre. It's quite nice to hear Snoop Dogg in his heyday. The lyrics, however, have aged like milk. Also found the source of DEEZ NUUTS comments on Reddit lol
The second track is exactly like what would be used as a soundtrack for a thriller detective show in the 90s. An album with only soundtracks, I didn't know that those existed outside of movie soundtrack albums. A delightful surprise and will totally listen to this album again for distilled sounds of the 90s TV shows and music
One of my favorite eras of music- 70s disco pop rock n roll types. This album has all the hallmarks of that era and a lot of the songs have a similar signature to ABBA's songs, except for Mr. Blue Sky. That one song seems like a song that belongs to a later era than the rest of the album, which is possibly why it is such a huge hit.
I've got the blues songs sounds very blue. But otherwise very enjoyable album. Can totally understand why Rolling Stones was legendary for their time.
Only liked Heroes, other songs in the album sound very disjointed and jarring. Especially the last couple of songs.
Not sure about the genre of this album- heavy metal?? punk rock?? in between?? Anyway, not up my alley. Even the most popular songs
Hmmmm iffy
Teenage me would have loved this angsty and sometimes angry music maybe? Not so much now
Performance in a state prison? Was that a thing those days? Anyhow, prime country music. There is beautiful synchrony in the duet with his wife. All the tracks are on the same 4 beats, sometimes slow sometime fast. This is a case of when lyrics win in the music vs lyrics battle
Um nope... I got a headache listening to the first track
Mish mash... Hear tabla and record scratches with Spanish music.. rap also sometimes.. it's too much
I enjoyed this one.
Stairway to heaven was heavenly especially that riff in the end.. chef's kiss. The other songs were okay. But this rating is heavily influenced by stairway to heaven
I quite liked this. It gives the feel of music being made in a room filled with people making weed
Beep boop music. Quite heavy on the tambourine also. Most popular track gave me a headache
I quite liked this one, short and sweet. Has a dreamy quality
One word- epic!!
Reminded me of simpler times when Losing My Religion was playing on the radio every other day. Quite mellow and nice lyrics
Confused them with BeeGees lol. Feels just like a warm ray of sunshine, aptly named. Nice songs, but nothing really stuck with me
If you read the track titles, its like who, when, where, how, which (do) you love? And it seems like the answer is the name of the next track- Mona. Music is good, however, half of any track is only instrumental. It's almost like the lead singer forgot to sing and remembered only towards the end that he had some lines to sing. Nice, but will I listen to it again? Maybe not
I got a little excited cos I thought I would hear bittersweet symphony in this album, but it wasn't this one. I kinda expected something great, but was let down
The first 2 tracks were so good. The songs that follow aren't as good. The beats are on the same meter throughout the album and it gets old with every passing track. Other than F the police, the lyrics of the songs are horribly sexist.
This was my vibe a decade ago. Relaxing music. I will probably come back to this when I want to unwind after a stressful day
Very meh. I like 90s EDM and EDM influenced music better
Simply delightful! The music just ebbs and flows like a river. Saved to my playlist
The most popular track on this album was okay, the rest were a snooze fest
OMG!! The iconic, ever-exciting- Seven Nation Army. It never fails to make me jam to it. The rest of the album is a delight- no electronic synthesizing, just bass and percussions. I particularly enjoyed the last track, very tongue in cheek
Meh not my scene
Catchy
Omg love love love right here right now- especially while driving. This is the defining music of the 90s, feels like home.
Not my jam
No no no
I've never heard the voice of a younger bono. Much better and more oomph than u2 in the late 2000s when I first heard them
Brilliant corners really turned corners when I was trying to figure out the time of the song. Too disjointed for me to enjoy. Water from an ancient well was better
Simply delightful
Hmm catchy. I can see why they were so popular.
Every breath you take was one of my favorite songs in the 2000s when I used to listen to the only English radio station in my city. Except that weird one in the middle, the other songs were decent. Not as good as every breath you take, which in retrospect, sounds very stalker-y.
I had only heard one track of theirs before this. This is totally my scene. Definitely coming back to this one again
Rather mellow. Would have given it a better listen if it wasn't Kanye West. I just heard 10 seconds of each track, which is the most I could do.
One of my all time favorite bands, right up there with Linkin Park for me. Love this album, love green day. Enough said.
One trick pony. I only liked Howlin' for You
It's okay I guess
What is this supposed to be? I have a headache
So 90s. Very random, the singer sounds like he's too lazy to even say the words fully
High rating for under the bridge
It's rock and roll with the lead singer sounding like they were the early precursors of metal. Not in my alley but can tolerate it
Today is a day where ambiguity ruled and this album rounded it off. This is such weird music, I really love parts of it until there is someone wailing like a banshee and it quickly throws me off.
Didn't like the first track as much.. it got better fever onwards. I love the emotion in his voice.
Half the time went off in trying to figure out what he is trying to say with the weird squealing in a husky voice
It's okay I guess. Not really memorable or something that is ahead of its time. Sounds really pious at times though.
This would be lovely to listen to in a playlist of jazz instrumentals. Would it stand out? I don't think so. But it is a nice calming listen
Voice is beautiful, but music is a snooze
I heard of Dolly Parton and knew she was a singer, but not sure why she was famous. I know now. Her voice is lovely. It has innocence and soul. Her vibrato is delightful. Usually not a big fan of country music and this album, but a high rating for her voice.
The week of okay albums has been rounded off with another one. Its honestly just okay. Is it really one of the best albums of all time? No it is not iconic sounding in any way
Such soulful renditions. Some of the songs on this album are among my all-time favorite songs. The lyrics are so hard-hitting, the voice has so much emotion- comfort, wistfulness, just everything. Yes, this is definitely one album that everyone must hear in their lifetime.
Tutti frutti is amazing. Little Richard's voice sounds way more fun than Elvis Presley's. I honestly prefer this over any of Elvis's songs
He probably paved the way for Ne-Yo. The tracks are so smooth. The lyrics are not really up my alley but the music is amazing.
So buttery, so smooth. This is the kind of music that you play at the end of a stressful week and watch your stress melt away
No. Its too confusing
I liked the bass in Sixteen Saltines and the drums in Freedom at 21 and both in I'm Shakin'. I liked him better when he was in The White Stripes. Maybe because Meg White's amazing drums hid the weird shaky thing that his voice does
The lyrics are just so beautiful and her voice has so much gravity. The music is lilting. My mood is lifting
Its okay guess
After listening to this album, I remembered why I don't like metal. Giving a high rating only for Nothing Else Matters
Its okay
His singing is delicious. Another thing I've noticed is that every performer has space to shine during the track. While it seems to be the norm for jazz, it is new to me and I quite like it. Everything is evenly sprinkled and it is beautiful
Its decent, not groundbreaking or anything. Very mellow rock in my opinion
Better than some of the earlier ones I heard in this list
So sleepy
Liked only black hole sun
Unremarkable
Lyrics are beautiful
What is that mellifluous voice.. omg I can now understand the phenomenon that was Frank Sinatra
I don't know I tried to give it a shot
Quintessentially late 80s music.. giving 3 only because of nostalgia.. the album not so much.. Phil Collins voice is better
Nothing different from the san Quentin album. Same lyrics trump music. Great interaction with the crowd
Fun
Oh he emotes so well...
Um no
Nothing groundbreaking
There is literally no range in his voice throughout. I understand it's all about the lyrics telling a story, the way it is you might as well recite the lyrics lol
Why it is so mellow for a band that is so iconic? I honestly expected to be hit in the face with music of the legends, but it's almost like a lullaby
I liked protect yer neck
It's okay
Strange concoction of beep boops.. not a fan
I like this... it's smooth
I found this quite enjoyable
Christine McVie... her voice is so beautiful
I do like some heavy metal that has a musical lilt to it... this is not it
What a voice.. what a range... wow
It's okay... not my jam though
Oooh so 90s. Ooh nothing earth shattering... but giving a 3 because I'm nostalgic
This sounds better than the previous couple of albums... more peppy. But I still don't get it, why are they so great?
Now this is what I'm talking about... this was so much better than rolling stones, there's variety in the singing, the trumpets (to die for). So good at bringing out the emotions in the lyrics
Omg the beats of mannish boy are so iconic... but I like how he thinks he is fab, I wonder what the women in his life had to say about the skills he brags about lol.. also calls himself man child, I don't know what to make of the lyrics but the music is spot on
Lazy Sunday is so fun and peppy, again better than rolling stones... The first track was such a banger.. I liked this one a lot
This has just the right amount of everything I love; a little bit of punk, rock, disco.. it's started off really well.. but tapered off.. still giving a high rating cos of one way or another
Jump is rock? Oh okay if you say so... Its more iconic than rolling stones though
Umm I don't have anything to say.. okay I guess
Meh
It's okay, it sounds like mellow James bond background score
