...And Justice For All
MetallicaWhile I like Metallica, this album mostly doesnt do it for me. The songs all sound too similar and the guitar is a kind of piercing scream. Some of the solos are reminiscent of what i like about Metallica

Meh Rap is fine if the beat is good. I dont understand why i would want to listen to voice messages on a machine.
I've only ever listened to one massive attack song before. This album sounds a lot like that. Really enjoyed it. I can see how this album has influenced other artists.
Love Sam Cooke. His personality really shines in live recordings.
Sunday Bloody Sunday was played often through my childhood and has a distinct sound that I never heard elsewhere...except in the rest of this album. I would usually play famous artists greatest hits because i assumed that was the best way to hear their best music. I would later find that greatest hits didnt always translate to my musical tastes. In a way listening to these albums allows me to discover new music. Drowning man provided an interesting feeling, but it didnt last long.
Master of Puppets was the first tape I ever bought on the recommendation of a friend. I had previously only heard a couple of the popular metallica songs from other albums. This album probably changed my life. It showed the darker, heavier side of music to me and I discovered that I liked that. It combines the heavy fuzzy guitars with brighter solos timed perfectly. The recording is crisp and the tracks are clearly seperated. Translation: I can hear each instrument well and can understand how it fits into the overall arrangement. While the album is of one style, I can tell the difference from track to track, they dont blend in together. The final song, Orion might by my favorite on the album. It contains all elements of the rest of the album into one long epic.
I just dont know what to do with this album. Willie Nelson has a great voice and decent guitar solos. But the whole album is slow and pokey. Where do I play it?
Really intrigued by this album, a little bit of everything.
can always listen to Herbie Handcock. excellent background music.
Its tough for me to enjoy most punk. The constant rapid 16th notes with no variability is too thick to push through. I can hear some interesting stuff from the guitar on this album and interesting drum choices from time to time. Life of Pain and Damaged I are highlights.
So many classics that I grew up listening to.
Gave this a really good listen. I generally dont like the rolling stones. Some of their popular songs are catchy, most of them annoying, which is why I havent explored their catalog deeper. I can really hear the influenced by the blues as evidenced by Doncha Bother Me, High and Dry, Going home. But all in all this still sounds like the rolling stones. None of the instruments sound apart from the others, they blend together to create noise. Maybe its a sign of the time, that was the best recording could do. But it doesnt sound good to me.
Some highlights and some fuzzy psych guitar sounds that I like, but all in all, just an alright album.
No One Receiving - Is this ambient music? I might be learning something. I've never been able to get into Eno despite having a huge love for the talking heads. Lets see where this goes. Julie With, more what I think of when I think ambient. I definitely enjoy some of these songs. I'm not sure Ill be actively listening to Eno anytime, but its nice stuff to have on in the background. This album is a little too inconsistent in sound tho. As soon as it lulls me into a mood, it changes too abruptly.
Ugh, the "Hey - Ho" genre. I'm glad that there is somebody out there who enjoys this music. This version of American folk music has its place somewhere, but it drags me down. While I dont like it, i am continuing to hear influences and specific sounds that I do enjoy through doing this project.
Shitty backing music made so some girl can hear herself sing
In every dreamhome a heartache is a favorite. I love the transition from the lyric part to the solo part.
Strokin' it I was not. Spent the whole album waiting for last night. The songs M All sound the same.
Classic
Interesting sound that could have been incorporated into a greater combination of sounds. Having this sound be the primary identification is boring and repetitive.
At First glance I didn't understand this album. I decided to listen again and then again with headphones. I understand it better now. Still not sure why it was made by I'm interested in checking out his other albums.
90s emo pop that evolved. I unfortunately have to give credit for the good sounding hooks, beyond that it's just painfully awful.
I can appreciate the skill it takes to perform at this level. But skill doesnt always mean it sounds good. They can harmonize, but its the same droning sounds in every song. It's background music in a 90's clothing store at best.
Ive always loved this album. Every song is catchy. Will be checking out their other albums.
What a delightful album. Variability in every song. I love the subtle hints of blues and what I now understand to be Merseybeat.
Two iconic songs followed up by lesser quality. Significant sound choices tho keep this an excellent album.
Cool concept album. It definitely feels like it's from a movie. Don't think I'll ever listen to it again
I was pleasantly surprised by this album. I had made an assumption that this was just another rap album, but was blown away by her voice and talents combined with catchy beats. I want to study the lyrics further.
This is so god awful. The only reason people could listen to this is because they didnt know there was something better. I couldn't even finish the album
I like fuzzy guitars as much as the next guy but when that's all that can be offered, it gets annoying. There's no substance to this album. It's the same exact sound and I can barely tell when one song ends and another begins. There needs to be other components to the fuzz and noise. I dont understand why this album is on the list.
Albums like this truly expose my biases. When I saw that it was salsa, i groaned. Its the same beat over and over. But that's the beauty of this project. It forces me to listen without assumptions. To dig deeper beyond the congo drums and listen to the nuances. The horns are my favorite part of every song! This album is great in a lot of ways. Especially when it crosses into jazz.
What a classic album. All of the songs have their merit and unique sound.
Good album, good songs. Not their best, but says a lot that 'not their best' still makes it to the top.
Interesting album, it was difficult to get below the surface on this one, but I love the horns
Great album, really enjoyed the sounds. I can see a lot of influences in this album and can see a lot of genres drawing from this album. My only complaint would be the monkey yell was used in every. Single. Song. The beats and different tempos kept it going!
Post punk! I like post punk because you can hear the music, not as screachy. I really love the funk and dance influences in this album. Lotta fun
Some scratchy guitar noises and solos sounded good. The rest of the album is bad. Not one song is catchy enough to overcome the basic drumming. How do people think this is good?
Great album. This listen showed me that I should really try to learn or at least follow along with lyrics. But even not knowing the lyrics wasnt a hindrance because Nina is so good at conveying emotion with the tone of her voice.
Really surprised that I hadnt heard of this album before. Not because I should already know all of the good music, (thats why im doing this project). But because there's always been a time when my tastes are aligned with these sounds. I should have at least come across this album and realized that I liked it. How did it escape me. I played it twice through. Lovely variety of sounds.
An incredible album. Every song is good. Unbelievable that this is a debut album.
This sounds like what heavens gate was listening to when they ascended. Let me go home... Where I won't be listening to this album. Ever. Couldn't finish
So great. I hadn't listened to the studio in a long time and I can see why. Their live performances are just incredible.
I'm not saying it's bad, I just don't want to listen to it.
Quite surprised by this album. Of course I had heard seven Nation army, but hadn't tried the rest of the album. I'm impressed with and refreshed by the lyric style and bluesy garage guitar. I wish I had tried this album out when it came out.
I think it'll take several listens to get the true intent of the lyrics. The music is muted as always, missing that extra umph that probably would show thru in a live setting. I ended this album better off than I started it, but it wasn't exceptional.
Limo wreck, the day I tried to live. The second half of the album pulls it together.
The lyrics are pedestrian but the execution provides entertainment. Luckily a good bass and disco beat can save anything.
The horns were great but got tired. The vocals were an interesting style but got tired. It was challenging to finish the album.
Wasn't bad, wasn't particularly exceptional. I just don't like mambo. I appreciate the musicality and I hate to generalize, but they all sound the same.
Frusciante's style and solos are top notch on this album. Flea's use of space and lack of slapping is appreciated. There's just too many damn songs and that brings the quality down.
Catchy guitar riffs and lyrics, but ultimately doesn't stand up against repeated listens. Not bad.
It's fine. Couldn't finish, not my style
I appreciate this album being back to roots. Slide and acoustic guitar.
Pleasant
Meh. Great voices, couple odd lyrics, won't seek out again.
7 and 7 is. Interesting meter changes in Stephanie knows who. Was really caught off guard by this album and didn't know what to think.
Can't deny the guitar. I'm sure the sounds were crazy back then. Not my thing.
Never heard this album before, always just listened to greatest hits. Didn't realize they're basically all on this album. Ramble Ramble is best.
Just not a good sound. Prolly innovative for it's time. I'm glad the sound has evolved.
Solid rock album. Sound like talking heads sometimes.
I do really enjoy iron maiden but this album didn't really excite me. Great lyrics tho.
Interesting combo of lyrics and sound. Not just an artist with a shit backing band. Thoroughly enjoyed, by not sure what situation would warrant a relisten.
Again, dumb lyrics. But frusciante makes it so good.
Rococo. Really interesting concept for an album. Interesting style and surprising. Enjoy hearing the different instruments making sounds.
