Liked this album, especially how chilled it was. I didn’t enjoy it to its fullest potential since I spent the majority of it not understanding my physics homework but overall ver my impressed with this album and the range of instruments that created the relaxed feel.
3/5
I actually LOVED this album. It was so groovy and the vocals made me want to dance even more. I had never heard of this album before but it felt like I could enjoy the songs as if they were up there with my faves. I really want to save my 5/5s for AMAZING albums so I give this a reluctant:
4/5
So far so good. This album had a nostalgic feel and took me back to my disney watching days. I feel like this would be a great album to feature in a film (don’t know if it does). Need to finish tomorrow.
3/5
I mean - this album is just iconic. Amy’s vocals and the brass elements are just to die for and the way the songs are high energy whilst also having mellow and serious themes running through them is everything I could ever need. (Not al all biased)
5/5
Ok so this is tricky. This Album isn’t especially poetic and yet there is still much beauty to found in the lyrics and the no-nonsense way the scenes in the album are depicted. When you’ve listened to 100 love songs, it’s nice to hear a song that you can jusg enjoy freely and I think blur knew that when writing this
5/5
This album grew on me. It reminds me of the rap I used to listen to as a little kid or the songs my dad would tell me about.
I was bopping my head at points
2/5
I love this album. I’m going to put some of these on my playlist. I knew I would love this album as soon as it started. Reminds me of songs played to me as a kid
Okay so I loved this album. It felt like something I could really groove to. Pretty sure I accidentally listened to it twice but overall really enjoyable
3/5
I’m already familiar with loads of things queen have done but I’ve never listened to this album before. Loved the guitar and vocals as expected from Queen.
3/5
I loved this album. His voice reminded me of Micheal Jackson but had a raw and earthy quality that made me love the album. It was so groovy and I was content whilst listening.
3.5/5
It would’ve been a two out of five okay but towards the end it started getting really good and I was actually grooving.
I struggled to get into this one at first. I credit this to the style of music since I don’t tend to lean into hiphop much unless it’s a bit more modern. However, I slowly started to enjoy it; particularly the sampling and the overall message.
3/5
I liked this album. It wasn’t my typical style but I did enjoy the beats and samples from literally everywhere. That being said, I did think the music was too crowded and that there were too many things going on. I couldn’t really concentrate whilst listening.
Okay so, I really loved this album. It didn’t actually feel like I was listening to my album of the day, just my usual playlist. I found it had a similar style to the Beatles and chuck berry at points. Amazing.
I didn’t think I’d like this one at first but it definitely grew on me. I also thought that the vocals and guitar pared together was really cool.
Okay i didn’t mind this I’ve decided. I thought that a lot of the album sounded the same but the core of the album was in the groovy chords and dance beats. This is where I found the most enjoyment. Not bad.
I forgot I liked rap honestly. This album made me remember how good rap songs could be. As we follow big’s life we find our more about him. It reminded me of loads of films form the 90s.
This one was amazing. Okay it wasn’t like the best album ever but I as rlly grooving and it was very much my style.
More my cup of tea than some of the others.
This was actually quite cool. I am rating this a while after listening - still liked how new and fresh it felt.
I wish we heard more stuff like this in pop music bc I’d like to hear more things like this.
It’s no secret that I love 70s rock and so I wasn’t going to turn my nose up at this album. The stones do rock and roll to perfection - this was evident throughout. Is it their best album? No, but still enjoyed listening.
This album, without question, has some good songs. It’s classically 80s with its synth and rhythm and yet it has some really unique elements with its pace and dynamics. Quite liked it, got a bit bored.
Ermmm, it was kinda good? I think? Some parts were good and others sounded like a demo. I think this one is a two but the good bits alone could be a 3
Okay SO… whilst I am a fan of classic rock, I’ve never really been exposed to Pink Floyd much. That being said, this album grew on me quite a bit. I slowly embraced the quirks of their style and… I mean…. ‘I know a mouse, he hasn’t got a house, I don’t know why I call him Gerald’ is peak lyricism lmao. Cracks me up every time.
Lots of new styles of music have been growing on me lately and jazz is no exception. Miles Davis does jazz so well and it’s clear in this album. He does a good job of creating intimacy and atmosphere in this album, making it an easy listen. Could put this on in the background and enjoy it.
This is one of those albums which isn’t really meant to be taken seriously, but I seriously enjoyed it. If you’re looking for beautiful metaphors or impactful lyrics, maybe this isn’t for you but from a musical standpoint, it’s actually really impressive. The chord sequences? The sampling? The harmonies? Would not have expected any less from The Who.
For me, I didn’t quite know how to feel about this album. I don’t love heavy rock and don’t listen to it much either.
Of all the grungy 2000s albums I’ve listened to, this one was actually pretty good. The guitar wasn’t anything unheard of but it was a good listen and same goes for the vocals.
I wasn’t surprised that this was their debut because some songs did feel like demos, QotSA have definitely made better albums since.
What a treat of an album! Pretty much all the big 50s/60s rock and roll hits in one album and sung to perfection by Jerry Lee Lewis. He is such a joy to listen to and the live audience recreated how it feels to watch the songs on stage. Put me in a good mood and only 20 mins - better than I expected.
Thought this one was pretty good. Such an easy listen with the vocals and the talent you have to have to put together songs like this - genuinely really impressive. Some of the songs were less enjoyable than others but for the most part a very enjoyable album, never realised how good Prince was tbh.
This is the best Afrobeats I’ve seen so far. I thought it was really good and would’ve been even better live. Personally I struggle to listen to songs that long - must be the short attention span. People don’t make long albums anymore for that reason and I think it’s kinda sad.
Okay so this one was sound. We know I love rock, we know I love live playlists and we know I love guitar. Well? I liked this album. Very good.
Honestly thought this was so good for electronic music. Some of the songs were a bit similar but enough variety where you could put it on in the background and enjoy. I liked this album a lot, especially compared to some other electronic music I’ve listened to.

Someone wanted me to have a good day today. This album is musical perfection and you can immediately tell by the harmonies, lyrics, chord progressions and the variety of style on the album. I have so many memories with these songs and it’s one of my all time favourites.
The jazz in here is sung to perfection by Amy winehouse. I will never stop recommending this album. The songs speak for themselves. You already know what I’ll rate it.
Woah. What a great album. It’s so great to step out of traditional western music genres once in a while and appreciate the harmonies and beats in albums like Shaka Zulu. I could definitely put this on a playlist or two
I’m usually quite selective with the rating feature on this website and have only given a few five stars. This means that I usually know an album really well before rating it so highly. I’ve heard of kings of Leon before but I’ve never enjoyed an album so much on a first listen. I genuinely had to stop what I was doing as not to miss a second of it. Amazing.
This was a good album. As a rock fan I rather enjoyed the riffs and it had a very T.Rex or Iggy Pop feel to it. This was an enjoyable listen to be honest and I am debating if it’s worthy of the four stars I could very possibly rate it.
Oh my gosh I love this album. The blend of saxophone with samba rhythm is frankly genius since it pairs so well with the overall relaxed feel. The upbeat nature of the songs is infectious, making one feel uplifted and joyful. I love this album so so much and I will definitely listen again
I was always pretty sure that one day this album would come up on here and today was that day. I mean, this is one of the best albums of all time. I am just in love with how the instruments are layered, especially in Misty Mountain Hop where the drums come in over the guitar. I also have to mention the iconic vocals throughout that cement them as one of, if not THE best rock band of their time. Black Dog is always a dream to listen to, making me extremely jealous of the sheer talent on display.
Woahhhh really liked this one. So chill to have on in the car or going somewhere. I’m a sucker for lyrics but this album really didn’t need them. If anything, lyrics would’ve taken away from the laid back, groovy feel. This album made me happy.
This album somehow went under my radar until now, although I am already familiar with and greatly enjoy the stuff she did with Big Brother And The Holding Company. This album is no exception to her daring attitude to singing, some of the runs on here are exquisite. All context aside, Janis Joplin is truly an icon and her vocals inspire singers everywhere to push boundaries and make great music.
Not really a massive fan of U2, but this album is ok. I like the first couple of tracks, quite slow and steady with focus on the impactful lyrics U2 is so famous for. The style and intensity varies throughout, leaving you anticipating what will come next. Quite cleverly put together but not groundbreaking.
I like this album a fair bit. The road trip energy is strong and it just feels like a good time. I forgot what’s good about if now but I remember enjoying it,
There were some really good bits here, the sax blending seamlessly with the percussion to create an air of relaxation and harmony. However the amount of ambient lift music on here could have taken me to the top of the shard and back down
This was a proper country sort of album. I don’t love country music but I could imagine myself driving into the sunset with a piece of grass in my mouth and my cowboy hat resting on my lap whilst listening to this at full volume. Aside from me living my cowboy dreams vicariously through this album, I thought the guitar was so cool on tracks like Life In Prison and Skid Row. It just sounded so authentic and gritty when paired with the laid back vocals. Overall better than I thought.
EDM (if you could call this album EDM i dont quite know) usually leaves me feeling bored and in need of a lie down but today was the rose amongst many a thorn. I was bopping, grooving, dancing, swaying and probably any word you can think of ending in ‘ing.’ Overall a success for my album of the day and frankly the world of Electronic Music as a whole.
Talking heads were always going to impress me because they are just such a top tier band and I like their other stuff lots. Definitely sensing elements of classic rock with a funky rhythm to it that diverted it from what I was expecting.
Would totally put these on my playlist!
I really liked the style of this. As someone who likes music, I don’t know why I’ve never really listened to Stevie Wonder before. For most the album, I was pleasantly entertained by the songs, until ‘Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing’, which felt so fresh and unique, despite being around 50 years old. And then I had to listen to the entire album again with a different perspective and loved it.
Wow wow wow. I’ll be honest, I knew this album would be good but I never expected to like it as much as I did. The talent that is fleetwood Mac never goes unappreciated by me. Would so have this in a playlist
I actually quite enjoyed this album. It was pretty unknown to me but I enjoyed this album as if I already knew them really well. My enjoyment obviously peaked at Our House which never fails to put me in a good mood.
I’m not going to lie I completely forgot what this one was like. The only thing worth mentioning is that Nuevo Tango was my absolute fave and that it caught me completely off guard. Overall not too bad, but there were elements of holding music which I was not much a fan of.
Ermmm. Im not going to lie, I can’t remember this one, so I’m assuming it was neither a 5/5 nor a 1/5. Therefore I’ll be a coward and rate if a measly 3/5.
I’ll say it once, I’ll say it a hundred times- I love live albums. I think they make you feel what it was like to be at the concert and experience the music like it was meant to be experienced. Although I might’ve cut out all the American twaddle at the start of each song. Call it British ignorance, or call it ignorance in general, but I’ve never heard of Sam Cooke before and he really is quite impressive. Really enjoyed this.
Okay. At first I thought, what a bunch of in garage playing, vape smoking, hummus eating, indie movie watching middle class uni student watered down bullcrap is this, what kind of deluded idiots would listen to this?
But as the album went on I realised it’s me, I’m idiots.
Surprising but still nothing new.
This actually fit the mood and pace of the day. Some down tempo tracks mingles in with some belters. The Las continue to be iconic to this day and for this album especially?! I have a love love relationship with this
This album is goated when it comes to 90s rnb/pop. This album always feels so nostalgic and still has the charm and awe that it did when I was young. I thought tboz was the shit when I was little and I still do. This album brought back good times.
Sound album tbf.
Forgot how much of a tune Jump is
Would recommend to a friend
This feels like the album that I should rake through the mud for not being daring enough or lacking any distinctive features that could distinguish it from others of a similar genre
However I found myself constantly being drawn to the slow pace of the guitar and vocals, making it seem effortlessly impressive and immediately enjoyable
Would definitely listen again
Thought I could go back and rate the others, guess not. Anyways I can’t really remember this one but I remember enjoying it. Gotta be 3/5, right?
OHH I REMEMBER THIS ONE.
It was AGES ago so I’ll be a coward and rate it three.
The world knows you deserve better.
Sos
I wasn’t having a very good day today but when I saw The Smiths on my phone, my eyes lit up. Something about Morrisey’s ability to make any remotely happy song feel like the ending of a Greek tragedy is almost so peculiar that it makes you smile. I adore the smiths but I feel their high standing in my heart can’t quite get them to the 5/5 mark
Hear me out here. This album would’ve got four stars for the sheer fact that it’s Nick Cave but this isn’t his best album and I feel more of his better ones will come up later.
I was going to ghost review this bc I really couldn’t be arsed when I saw 1hr 33mins like WHAT DO U MEAN.
If Beyoncé could release this album without writing it then I would happily review it without listening to it.
BUT I GOT THROUGHT IT AND LOWKEY IT WAS GOOD? PASSABLE? ICONIC?
It was better than I thought at any rate :)
Strong feel good vibes here. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that this album was daring or even all that impressive, but enjoyable? No one can take that away from this cutesy little album. I’d never heard of this band before but they made me smile and put me in the Friday feeling. Honestly I couldn’t hope for much more.
Oh my goodness. Why did no one get me on this album before?!!? Nirvana’s talent is unmistakable, even to a dung beetle so it doesn’t surprise me in the slightest that I ate up every second.
I’ve always thought CCR was criminally underrated. I always feel it hasn’t stood the test of time in the way other rock bands have. I really love the groove of this album, would put this on a playlist and will be recommending to a friend.
I could very easily write an essay on this album. I wasn’t really familiar with Gillian welch and country music is always a stranger to my British ears. But I loved this, it feels like the end of one of those movies where they’re all huddled up by a fire. I shall return to this album.
This was actually not too bad. The Everly Brothers are iconic to this day. Those harmonies?!!? You already know I appreciated them. Anyway, pretty average album if I’m honest with you
When I started listening to these, there were always a few iconic albums that I just KNEW were going to come up. This album is so iconic, the lyrics are so genius and precious to me. I’m really sentimental over this album.
I don’t know what kind of crack they put in this album but I love it every time. The riff on Here Comes Your Man makes me smile every time, and to switch it up with Crackity Jones No 13 Baby (Which is criminally underrated by the way). I LOVE this album.
Whenever I rate my album of the days, I always talk about how talented the singers must be to create the albums. Well, they’re lucky I’m not using this album as a point of comparison because next to this? I hate to say all the other albums are more disappointing than David Bowie’s cover of Across the Universe.
Words can’t quite convey the emotional attachment I have for this album. The songs of all songs? By the band of all bands? On the album of all albums? It made me feel like today was the day of all days. This is just the album you think of when you hear 1001 albums you have to listen to before you die. This album is in my top 10 at least.
Okay I got bored whilst listening to the album so I thought of a movie that would feature this album as a soundtrack
There’s a 16 year-old boy who’s parents are on the brink of divorce and he’s getting bullied by this popular girl at school
He goes the the beach bc he’s emo and he sees some people trying to kill this endangered species of dolphin and he’s really annoyed
So the next day he goes and destroys all of the hunters’ equipment and makes friends with the dolphin
The dolphin stops him from being emo so he tells his mum and dad about it and fixes their marriage
Then he is watching the dolphin one day and he sees his bully also watching it
Well, it turns out her mum and dad aren’t getting on well either and so they sit and talk about their trauma and become friends
Anyway pretty average album 3/5
There are few things that seem to be eternally true. The Sky is blue, 1 + 1 = 2 and such - well it also seems to be true that Neil Young will be Neil Young. He’s kinda good but also really bad - he gets a 3/5
Oh My Gosh. I literally LOVE this album. No one can deny that OutKast are so genius when it comes to their lyrics, sampling and overall sequencing of the album - this never ceases to amaze me and it makes me want to be like a gangsta rapper or something
You know what, my expectations were genuinely on the floor when I saw a nine minute track titled Maggot Brain up first. I wanted to hate it and give it 1/5; but, and I can’t pinpoint when, I actually started to really enjoy it
Okay why did I actually love this album. This album, and I can’t think how else to describe it, sounds like if Jarvis Cocker wrote my Grade 4 modern syllabus. I really REALLY want to give this a 5/5 for sheer comedic value but that doesn’t distract from the fact that I did think it was a bit shit. Not giggled this much in a while
I know you’re not supposed to judge a book by its cover and I absolutely did with this album.
I saw the cover and thought whatever I can’t be bothered with this, just another 2000s indie album
But when I listed to it I was actually super impressed - it’s so listenable to me and I’m such a fan
Why am i always such a big fan of these funky little albums?! I would’ve totally given it four stars but it started to sound like café music by the end. I’m sure it’s a good café, but still, three stars it is
I’m in a slight bit of confusion as to what I should do with morrissey, it’s after the smiths but before got up farrage’s arse. It’s undoubtable that morrissey’s solo album is lacking in the same flair and pizzazz that his music has when he was with the rest of the smiths. Sort of felt a bit one more, but I did chuckle at points
Oh I did actually listen to this one but forgot to rate it. The beastie boys are actually so good - far better than what I thought. All the tracks were good but No Sleep till Brooklyn can never not be my favourite
Maybe it was the Monday blues, maybe I’m a musical genius, but I thought that all the songs were sort of similar. She was shrieking as if X-ray spex was toned down and put onto a pop record (of course, this is no criticism of poly styrene xoxxo) but I was not a huge fan - not even girls just wanna have fun could cheer me up
This THIS is the what I rate albums for. A cracking album that I’ve never heard of and will absolutely listen to after. It had the perfect mix of sauce and substance - genuinely no complaints but perhaps not stardust. Well done Paul Revere and the Raiders!
To me, this album is sort of a melting pot of everything I love about music - sort of like a Nick Cave/ Bob Dylan blend of styles and some unreal guitars. I’m actually such a fan of this - well done once again
No because when I tell you, WHEN I TELL YOU that this album is criminally underrated I mean it. I’m not part of the music world so idk how the majority of people feel about this BUT I have been loving this album since the dawn of time. It makes my brain super happy and I with I could rate my other albums lower so that this 5/5 would mean more
I have such a sweet relationship with Carole king’s music, filled with youthful naivety and an ever-present sense of wisdom that never fails to fill my heart. This woman is an inspiration and a talent beyond words; I can never truly fault her work
This album was already familiar to me before I began listening to it and for the most part I was quite the fan. Janis Joplin is a legend in the music world and I felt she delivered her raw talent perfectly, however I thought it was quite long and if I had listened to just the good bits, it would’ve been a 4/5
Quite the fan of this album and bad company in general. I’m glad they made it on here because I feel their work goes unappreciated sometimes - the talent made me smile
I’m sorry but I don’t think I can get this album to win me over
Okay this was fine. Could it be that buddy holly got there first? I doubt it. It was just nothing new. And I would’ve given this 2/5 if it weren’t for the few good bits
I’m rating this like a week after listening but I remember loving it. Like it wasn’t brilliant but I remember getting so in to it that I thought it was my own playlist.
I mean- I mean- words can hardly describe the ecstasy I felt whilst listening to this album. It’s an absolute classic, and just a treat from a musical standpoint. I have so many good memories with this album and I can actually understand the lyrics now that I’ve listened to it on Spotify and not a cassette player
Wow. This album came at the perfect time - it perfectly captured my mood and morning mood. Eating porridge and wrapping up in the
cold air; it just felt correct. I love this kind of music so I’m surprised I have let it pass me by for so long. It must be said, lots of the songs sounded the same but I love this music, nick drake is my new icon.
I feel like you have to be ready for this album if you want it to be good. Like at first I was like no but when I was ready for it tell me why I was obsessed?! Like Sweet and David Bowie together - making it a great listen but slightly unoriginal
I fully loved this album - super upbeat and super fun to groove to as well, I really liked the drums in this, disco drums are something else man. Anyways it was a great album.
Again, I forgot how the album sounds as I’m rating it. I seem to remember liking it a fair bit and it growing on me. I’m going to be a coward and give it a measly 3/5
For me I always saw this album EVERYWHERE and heard all of the rave reviews but I never actually gave it a proper listen. I’m now so in love with this album that I want to be trapped in a dark room with only this album for 24hours. I now understand the hype, and a great album considering its now my usual style
I thought this was so cute and peaceful for the peaceful mood I was in. I always like to listen to albums in the morning on the bus so this made the condensation on the windows feel purposeful and atmospheric instead of a pain in the bum
Oh my god. This is probably the best album I’ve ever loved on a first listen. Not going to lie to you it’s a 5/5. 5/5, 10/10, 100/100 - it’s amazing and each one had me in awe
