Born To Run
Bruce SpringsteenI think Springsteen is a great story teller and I love listening to Clemons play the sax. There are some great songs here that I like, but this is not an album I would listen to in its entirety very frequently.

I really enjoyed the diversity in the tracks on this album. A lot of these songs I was not familiar with and Bowie's creative and eclectic vocal prowess is on full display in every track. Listening to this album was a very enjoyable experience for me.
I loved everything about listening to this amazing album. Truly, it is a timeless, classic work of art. Davis is remarkable and the supporting musicians are brilliant. This is one of those albums that I feel like I could go to in any situation and while it might not please everyone in the crowd, I can't imagine anyone wanting to turn it off. This should easily be one of the top of the "in case of emergency play this album" list.
Another classic album by Miles Davis. While I enjoyed listening to this, it did not have the same overwhelming and inspiring feeling of his Kind of Blue album.
I love this album. It came out during formative years of my own life and I have fond memories of listening to each track, slowly digesting the lyrics. The whole album has a way of making protest music that sneaks past your defenses and pulls you into re-imagining the world around you with hope. It is hard to believe it is 40 years old because the music and themes are still so relevant. And I am always amazed at how hook-filled guitars and great vocals are so elevated by a totally locked in rhythm section. A real gem.
While I confess that this kind of music is not my normal listening fare, I really appreciate when someone can rip and mix samples and beats and make something creative and new. Unfortunately, for me, this album was not that. I felt like each track let only a handful of short samples dominate in an endless loop that eventually fades into noise more than makes music. There were not enough layers, transitions, weaving together samples to create something melodic that hooks in this collection for my tastes. Instead, it was just a nice collection of sounds that overstayed their welcome.
Such a great album. Queen seems to be one of those bands that emerged at the same time as all the Rock and Roll greats but managed to stand out and be distinct. This album highlights their unique greatness perfectly.
I did not love this album but I listened to the whole thing and did not have any urges to skip songs or turn it off. There are other artists in this genre that I really enjoy. This was not one of them.
I loved listening to this album. It is appropriately titled, as each track made me want to dance. This would be a nice background to a casual dinner party at low volume in the background.
Today was a great day for my album review. I had never heard of this band before and I absolutely loved this album. I am only recently learning about some of the new, European, kick ass, female rockers, like Cocktail Slippers and Dea Matrona, and listening to this album made me feel like I was connecting to the roots and inspiration of some of that. This album is a classic. Loved the vocals, loved the arrangements. Fantastic album.
This was a new band to me and I really enjoyed listening to the whole album. Catchy hooks, complex vocals. I would definitely add it to my library.
The Who is one of my favorite bands. I am too young to have caught them in their prime, but I did grow up listening to their songs. After learning a bit about music and playing instruments myself, I revisited this bands catalog with a deeper and wider perspective. They are still one of my favorites. I know they are popular, but in my own opinion, they don't get the same love that other classic bands of this time period have. This group of unique talent seems to have put out something way more than the sum of their parts. I loved listening to this album today.
Another great album that reminds me of my young adult years. This album came out in my college years and was very popular in my area. Maybe it is the nostalgia that makes me rate this higher than some might? I feel like some of this has been hardwired directly into my DNA. I loved every track on this album.
I am not familiar with the Kinks beyond their popular radio hits. This album was all new to me. It was not what I was expecting. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't something that hooked me.
I am very partial to the blues, and Muddy Waters is one of the OG!! There is a reason so many early rockers were influenced by Waters. I enjoyed listening to this album.
With the disclaimer that hip-hop and rap are not my favorite genre, I loved this album. The vocal style is not my favorite but the magic here is the amazing use of samples. These guys were truly some of the early pioneers in sampling and they get it right. The layers going on behind the vocals here are amazing. And the lyrics are creative and catchy. I like it best when they alternate lines as you get a true sense that they could rip, mix, and burn on the fly as well as anyone. But really, the sampling is what pushes this whole album to the 5/5 range for me.
I was excited to see a Cure album pop up as the album for today but that excitement was short lived. This album was a bit of a downer. It is clear that there was a lot going on behind the scenes that subtly, and sometimes not so subtly, left a dark stamp on the tracks. A bit too dark for my tastes.
This whole album is fantastic. I was a bit too young to fully appreciate this band when they arrived on the scene, but there is no denying the impact that they had on everyone who followed. I love listening to the Clash now and wish I would have been at an age where I could have really appreciated them in their prime. 5/5 for me.
