Les Rythmes Digitales- I saw this album cover and was like…this is going to be a 1. Maybe 2. I was wrong. This was fun as hell. Definitely 1999 dance pop. I loved it. Perfect example of never know what you’re going to get.

nope. Not for me. Some of the music is pretty. But the vocals. No. Not for me. I’m sorry. It was hard to even get through even 35 minutes of this. Lou Reed on “fistful of love” would have taken it up to a 1.5. But no. The vocals were a 0.0. Not for me.
I knew some of it, but not all. Such a grimy album. Sounds like a party.
Of course I knew this one. I think I bought it the day it came out. Still a great album. So much emotion and feeling in it. Allegations aside, holds up for me
Listened to this one when it came out. But I was 13. Haven’t listened to it since. I remember all the singles plus a few others. Kickstand is still the best song in the album.
Seconds stones album already? I thought exile was good. This was even better. Sister morphine was a song I’d never heard, but damn was it good! When you’ve heard people cover 6 out of the 10 songs, it must be good.
Good album. Never would have expected it to be on this list. Never listened to him before but I’m glad I did. Lots of different styles going on. Great guitar tones. Produced amazingly.
fuck yeah with this one. It’s even better than the last time I listened to it. They were on FIRE! Greatest rap group of all time. RIP ODB!
listened to this a looong time ago on dads record player. Haven’t really listened to them since. Definitely fits the 80s goth/cure/joy division vibes. Love the bass throughout. Good guitar tones.
worst one yet. His band is tight! But he would be better if he stopped the vibrato and weird owlwolwowowow stuff.
This album is fine. I get why people like it, and maybe on another day I would have liked it more. It’s very chill. The songwriting is good, just not a huge fan of her voice.
This is why I wanted to do this. An album from a band I’ve never heard of. But it is so good. It’s like Bowie meets the stooges. I know that’s iggy pop solo stuff. But it’s more of an amalgamation of Bowie and the stooges. This is one of those albums where you want to check out everything else they’ve done.
another one I loved already! This album kills from front to back. Just an absolute thrasher.
It isn’t something I’d ever listen to again. Good for background music. Would be better if the songs were all 1-2 minutes shorter.
I didn’t realize this was their only album. A short 22 minutes of punk goodness. Fast, loud, and angry. I like it.
Great album. One of the bands I don’t listen to very often. But when I do, it’s always awesome. I mean, david Bowie covered a song on this album. That’s how you know it’s a good album. Which makes me feel bad for giving it 3 stars.
First solo album of his I’ve listened to. Weird and experimental but I really liked it. Definitely not just a bunch of silly love songs.
I’ve dabbled in Elvis Costello, but this time I went through the entire album. Only ever listened to greatest hits. Really good stuff on here! Some of the songs had a Grateful Dead jangly vibe to them. I dig it!
didn’t get to listen to it yesterday, since I was working with Cramer. But got to it today. It was beautiful. But long. And probably not what I should have listened to on the exercise bike. The songs were all very pretty. She has a wonderful voice. I’ll never listen to it again. Post and Debut should be on here over this.
I actually listened to this one once because bo and Noah were talking about it. This was really good. It’s crazy how you get an idea in your mind because you heard their one hit from the 80s (over and over and over….thank you Mr. Morris and his weight lifting tape), and think they are not greet. But turns out they have a lot of songs you’ve never heard that are really good!
oh I have listened to this one before! It’s funky and you can figure out the story. Great album to have in Prince day!
This album was so good. Ronnie wood plays some incredible guitar. Found out it’s one of dad’s all time favorite albums too. They had great guitar tones. Bluesy and fun.
of course I knew this one. Never listened to it a ton, because I was more into the ramones, but it still has some good songs on there. Manufactured band aside, god save the queen and anarchy in the uk still slap.
this is what Elvis wanted to be! This was a fun album to listen to. I knew a few songs and even the ones I didn’t were good. Prince definitely got a lot from little Richard.
of course I knew the singles, and they are killers. But the whole album is good! Some songs could be a minute or 2 shorter, but still. I liked it a lot. Reminded me of staying up late and watching MTVs AMP.
I’ve only listened to his greatest hits, which I loved. This album has two totally different vibes. It’s a honky tonk ripper and a sad ass country album. A lot of the hits I’ve heard covered by other people.
why don’t I listen to pavement? And why do I only have one album on CD? It’s sloppy and messy and I liked it a lot.
eh. Not great. I remember going through my doors faze in high school and college. I gotta say, not a great album. I used to love “Alabama song”. Heard it today and I was like, nah. Just ok. Not good. Light my fire and break on through still rip though.
have never listened to Kraftwerk this album was so good. This is how techno came techno, which is what we called techno before someone called it EDM. Would also be great music for class.
I own this but haven’t listened to it in so long.Very solid album! Only song that didn’t do it for me was the last track, For You. She was all about saying damn the man.
I’ve never listed to a creedence album. Only the hits and singles. This one was really damn good! I liked it a lot…and then we got to the last song…”keep on chooglin’” and I loved it even more. That song was only 7ish minutes. I wanted to keep on chooglin!
a great one for sure! Love the who. On this one you can already tell where they’re headed. They were chaotic, but poppy. Keith moon and John Entwhistle were a killer rhythm section. Dudes killed it. Moon was a messy maniac, and brought chaos to even the pop songs.
jazz fusion. Not my thing. There were a couple songs I grooved to, but nah. Not for me.
this one was not what I expected. Only thing I know of her is her vocals in “The Memory Remains”. And I hated it. This was so much better. It was like a new wave album. Like blondie before blondie. Way better than I thought.
solo piano live jazz. Not for me. It could be ok if I was at a restaurant and someone was playing it in the background, but I will never seek this out again. I don’t need a 26 minute piano only song, let alone an hour and 6 minutes of a live album. Is he talented? Absolutely. But it’s not my thing. I found myself wondering though, if this was a Prince album, would I have liked it more? Maybe. I just have no connection to it and cared nothing about it.
was a really good album. It sounded like a circus, in a good way. Ben fold has clearly listened to “do you remember Walter”. And “picture book” was in an Apple commercial! It was really great.
I mean…hell yes! Amazing album by an amazing group. This one always remind me of Miller. I was living this album the entire time. It’s got so many different types of music. It’s got hip hop, punk, Tibetan inspired vibes.
Really enjoyed this one. I wasn’t sure. Some songs could have been a bit shorter, but overall it got me grooving and I liked it a hell of a lot.
of course this was awesome. I’ve only listened to 2 other Black Sabbath albums, but they were both awesome. This one I only knew songs from covers. And what a wild range on this one. Too bad they kicked out ozzy! They could have been even bigger!
one of the best. I was so excited to see this as my album. Of course I’ve listened to this many times. I am always in awe of this album. How can you make music like this? It’s perfect.
I forget what almost all of this sounded like. It was very bland Brit pop that I couldn’t connect with at all. It’s not for me. It would be fine as background music, but I was again, looking at how long the next song was each time, hoping they were short.
I barely knew blondie. Of course I’ve heard the singles. And knew they played at CBGBs. This was a really good album. New wave as hell with some great guitar.
I liked this a lot. Then I reads about them and liked it even more. Guitar was killer. I have no idea what they said, but I don’t know what any lyrics say. Definitely going to check out more.
how can you go wrong with Willie? I had no idea this was all standards. Reading about it was interesting. Good old songs. Willie’s guitar is unmistakable, as is the harmonica player.
this album is so good. It’s got great everything. Music, vocals, rapping. Dj. It’s too bad they are now the band for corny ass jimmy Fallon.
it’s crazy that I haven’t listed to this album in so long, but I remembered a lot of it. Dad had it and I remember him listening to it. It’s fun album. Every song just makes you feel happy in a different way.
- I liked this one even more than I remembered! Jesus and Mary chain are always awesome, and this one is incredible.
This was way better than I expected. But my expectations were low. So low. This sounded like Q95. This was like listening to the radio in the car with dad. Every song sounded like I was in the car going to Crawfordsville with the radio on. Hell, I didn’t even know “Back in the Saddle” was an Aerosmith song.
it’s a very pretty album. The music is beautiful. it’s definitely background music. I liked it a lot. But it all sounded like the acoustic intro to a Led Zeppelin song. I kept waiting (knowing it was not coming) for a heavy breakdown. Still, a very good album.
- I have this one on CD tand like it. But then I listened to it today…it’s so much better than I remember.
I saw this and first thought…ugh.ok. I’ll finish it. Because I have to. But damn. This was so good! So many songs I knew and didn’t realize who did it, and other ones I was just getting down to. This is what Amy winehouse could have been.
This was even better than I thought. Every song I heard his influence on someone.
a day when you can listen to bb king is always a good day. What a performer. I am so glad I got to see him in concert. My only complaint was that “Everyday I Have the Blues” was too fast.
I had a few of their albums but hadn’t listened in awhile. This was one I didn’t have. It’s fantastic. Guitars for days! Some songs sounded like weezer. Some like the stooges. Some like Dino jr. Good ass 90s rock.
xcellent album. Sadly I had never listened to this one. Most of what I listened to with Dylan was the singles collection. I know this is considered on of his best (along with blood on the tracks) but I hadn’t ever listened. I knew quite a few because they were popular singles.
great album. All kinda flows together though. Not a lot of changes. Like Neil said, “it’s all one song.” Still an incredible album.
I mean, yeah. He can sing like a motherfucker. The music is beautiful. I just wasn’t feeling it today. It’s summer break and this wasn’t what I wanted. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a good album. The songs are beautifully put together, there is a wide range of song types. But I wasn’t feeling it today. Still scores high.
I was surprised, but excited to see this one come up. I love this album. It’s been awhile since I listened to it, but it’s so damn good. It’s got so many influences. I know it’s a concept album, but it’s so cinematic, in a good way
another kinks album? I’m not mad. They are so good and I had no idea. I knew I liked what I heard, but they are even better than I thought. I knew “Victoria” somehow. I might have to do a kinks deep dive.
another Dylan after another kinks album? Weird, but ok. There’s a reason why he’s a legend. There’s a reason this album is on t
I wasn’t sure what to think. The first song made me go nah…but it got way better. Some Songs had me singing them in my head after. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought I was gong to listen to garbage. This was not garbage.
abrasive. Noisy. Sloppy. Pretty freaking awesome. Rockabilly surf rock freaky fun. It was a great album to listen to.
so good. I bought this in 2008iah at HPB, but never actually listened to it. Covid happened and I pulled out random albums, and this was one of them. I loved it. But I haven’t listened to it since (no idea why). You can hear so many current indie bands in this album. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would.
- I saw this album cover and was like…this is going to be a 1. Maybe 2. I was wrong. This was fun as hell. Definitely 1999 dance pop. I loved it. Perfect example of never know what you’re going to get.
this was British as hell. I saw him open for Ben folds and forgot all about him. I bought one of his albums at half priced books for $2. And forgot all about it. It was too long. It sounded like showtunes and a movie score the whole way. And the R trill on “Charge” took it down a whole point.
such an awesome album. I never listened to them, but this was great. Every song was different. The music was incredible. I loved this one.
another masterpiece. This one came out right at the perfect time for me. In college and trying to figure out where I was heading. The video for “last night” played allll the time on mtv2 and I was here for it!
nope. Not for me. Some of the music is pretty. But the vocals. No. Not for me. I’m sorry. It was hard to even get through even 35 minutes of this. Lou Reed on “fistful of love” would have taken it up to a 1.5. But no. The vocals were a 0.0. Not for me.
I was unfamiliar with this, but damn did I like it! 90s hip hop in a good way. Great beats. Vocals were killer.
I was not sure about this one, but I really liked it. Musically, they were amazing. They played their instruments perfectly. It was also a fun one to listen to.
ok. Fine. Another Joni Mitchell album. This one was better because it had more going on, but still…not my thing. It was fine, I guess.
I didn’t know what to think at first, and when I saw it was a “double album” with all the songs in English, then again in French, and it was 90 minutes, I was like, damn. The English version was good. But the French side…way better. Should have just put out the French version! I liked it so much more. And I don’t know why, because lyrics going one ear and out the other.
5/5. 10/10. Perfect. No notes.
I like it. I really do. But he gets way more love than he should. Half of this album is amazing. Half of it is fine. The interludes are not necessary. I still like it a lot, but I just don’t love it. Even if I almost tried to cover “thinkin bout you” once for some dumb reason.
another perfect album. I have loved this one since it came out. It’s even better after knowing the story behind it. The songs are amazing in every iteration. I can’t imagine writing a song like these. Take a song that would be great with normal instruments, take those all away, make it noisy, then add guitar back in. Love this one.
are they good? Yes. I like a lot of their stuff, this one didn’t do it for me. I think traffic is a great “greatest hits” band, but so many album tracks i just wasn’t into.
I never would have guessed that this would be on this list. I bought this when it came out in 04. I still remember hearing them for the first time on 97x(RIP). I hadn’t listened to it in probably 10 years, but still remembered every song.
I liked some of it. But no way would this be in the 1001 albums everyone should listen to. That being said, The music was crazy and interesting sometimes. I liked “eyeless” a lot! But when he sang instead of screamed, it was awful. Or the almost rapping. That was terrible. Maybe the next album got rid of that. I liked this a lot more than I expected though.
another Elvis Costello album. And another time for me to go, damn….why don’t I listen to more Elvis Costello? Every song was great. Awesome album.
awesome album. Never listened to this album, but the greatest hits had a lot of them on there. So damn good. Powerful. Noisy. Sloppy. Angry. Damn the man!
was a day off on this one, due to birthday and concert stuff going down. This is the best of all the Dylan albums so far. But also, why so many albums by the same artist? There are so many artists that probably got left off this list, and I’ve had 3 Dylan albums in my first 79 (plus multiples of others).
this album is really good. I never liked oasis (I guess I didn’t care about them) when they were new. It’s so Brit pop. “Don’t look back in anger” is the best oasis song.
really good album. I didn’t have a lot to say about it, other than I liked it.
this is the second time I’ve listened to this album this year. It’s damn good! The overture alone is worth the price of admission. And “something for nothing” is such a great closer. When geddy lee sings, he inspired a generation of shitty metal singers, but we don’t hold that against him.
not a steely Dan album. But it might as well be. I was getting down to this one. I could listen to this all day.
