Basement JaxxThis album is awesome and I don’t understand the global reviews being mostly 1 and 2 stars. Red Alert is a club classic and deserves more stars than that! Fav songs: Red Alert, Yo Yo, Bingo Bango

I have adjusted my rating, this is the first album I listened to for this project and I have come back and listened multiple times since then, it deserves 5 Stars Fav songs: literally all of them!
Half the album is missing on Spotify and the songs that are missing are the best ones!!
so good but it could be nostalgia? Love an album that mixes genres
I loved this album when I was younger, but my music taste has definitely changed, still a solid album though. Fav songs: Dark Side of the Matinee and Come on Home
This album would have been 5 stars for me if it wasn’t for the leery rapey lyrics of Pencil Skirt. The whole album itself is about sex with some questionable lyrics that are very likely a product of their time, and I can look past most of it, EXCEPT Pencil Skirt. I love how most of the songs seem to build into these awesome dancey numbers Fav songs: Common People and Sorted for E’s and Wizz
I can’t tell if he hates women or just thinks he’s better than the women he sings about, but every woman mentioned in this album is objectified, even Cleopatra’s worth is reduced to the men she sleeps with. I kept listening because I had heard such great things about this album, but good production doesn’t rescue this one for me
I had no idea what was going on with this album, but damn was it fun! Favs - Lazy Sunday, The Hungry Intruder, Rene
A solid album, I do think American Pie should come later in the album Fave songs - American Pie, Vincent
This was bit of a nothing album, pity the singer just talked the whole time
Great album, an absolute classic! Fav songs: straight shooter, California dreaming, the in crowd
Enjoyable album, the actual music was great. I wished their was more instrumental songs like Celia Ann Fav songs: Celia Ann, all over the world
Loved this album! I think most of the songs were on par with each other Fav song: Love the one that your with
How fun! Love this! This is the kind of live performance you would go to and still talk about years later! Fav songs: Ye Ye De Smell, the 16 minute drum solo
Would I listen to this again? No. But was it kinda cool? Yes! I can see this would have probably changed the game with synthesisers Fav songs part 2 and part 5
Loved this album! Every song was excellent made even better after reading he played almost every instrument on the album. Stevie Wonder is so talented Fav songs: living for the city, higher ground
I had to listen to this twice because the first time it didn’t hit how I thought it should, and I am so glad I did. I loved the stripped back sound in this album. At first I thought this album was quite sad but on second listen is absolutely is not! Fav songs: For the turnstiles, Motion Pictures (for Carrie),Ambulance Blues
What in the sci-fi sex drug was that? I did enjoy listening to this though, even if it hasn’t aged too well! Fav songs: The Humpty Dance, Sex Packets (even with the questionable lyrics)
An excellent album, some real bangers! Fav songs: Born on the Bayou, Good Golly Miss Molly, Proud Mary
It was a mistake listening to this immediately after Neil Young’s - on the beach, because this seemed quite shallow in comparison. Maybe will have to give it another listen soon
It was… fine. I could take or leave Clapton Fav song: Layla
This album is so much fun, the vocals and the harmonies are perfect. An incredible debut album! I’m not sure if any other Go-Go’s albums are on the 1001 list but I sure hope so! Fav songs: This Town, We Got The Beat, Automatic (this song was different from the others but I think it came at the right time in the album and broke it up a bit)
This was a bit difficult to get through, it wasn’t bad, in fact I thought it was quite groovy, it was just so intense. I didn’t listen to disc 2, it was all too much Fav songs: Peace Sells, My Last words
I loved this album! British music in the 60s was just miles ahead of the Americans. Finally an album that saves the best for last as well! Fav songs: Care of Cell 44, Time of the Season
Wow Marvin, what did she do to you? The musicians were great, and the vocals were too, but it was just a bit boring, and a bit of a slog to get through the album Fav songs: Anger, A Funky Space Reincarnation
I get that this is very good jazz, but jazz is not my thing. What I can appreciate is three very good musicians who are clearly very good at their craft Fav songs: Alice in Wonderland
A perfect album, not even a song about loving your car can ruin it. If anything, the rest of the band letting that song on an otherwise flawless album is a testament to their friendship Fav songs: Love of my Life, Bohemian Rhapsody
This album was fine, not sure I absolutely HAD to listen to it before I die though, it was pretty generic 90s punk rock. If this is on the list I hope there is also some actually influential 90s punk rock on here, Greenday will obviously make the list, but is it too much to hope for some NOFX or Rancid? (It’s probably too much to hope for) Fav songs: Used, Come See, Come Saw
This one was written for the girlies in their 20s There is not a single song on this album I didn’t enjoy Fav Songs: Small Blue Thing, The Queen and The Soldier, Neighbourhood Girls
I really enjoyed this! No notes, just nice to listen to Fav songs: Daydreaming, Hymn of the Big Wheel
I wouldn’t listen again, but nice and easy to listen to Fav songs: Back at the Chicken Shack, When I Grow Too Old to Dream
I especially like when the inmates cheer when he talks about cocaine and killing people An incredible live album, Johnny Cash has an amazing voice and then you add June Carter in there and it’s perfect! Fav songs: Folsom Prison Blues, Orange Blossom Special, Jackson
Stopped listening after I read about the child sex abuse 0/5
Joan’s voice is so beautiful Fav songs: House of the Rising Sun
Turns out I really like Funk and Soul! Fun album Fav songs: I want to take you higher, Everyday People, Sex machine
No notes, great album, Queen is always excellent Fav Songs: March of the Black Queen, Seven seas of Rhye
Oh boy how boring was this 💤 Why are we making music pretending to be a cowboy in 1959?
This album is awesome and I don’t understand the global reviews being mostly 1 and 2 stars. Red Alert is a club classic and deserves more stars than that! Fav songs: Red Alert, Yo Yo, Bingo Bango
Really enjoyed this! Full of angst and the vocals are so raw Fav songs: Fountains, Dress
Let’s get Killed? Yes please, if it means I never have to listen to this crap again. This album is so boring I wish I could rate it 0 stars. This guy really created four bars of melody per song and hit repeat. The only upside is that the album is so boring that have already forgotten what the songs sound like This is the first album I have truely struggled to listen to, I was painfully aware of how long the songs were and I was literally counting down the seconds till the songs finished. Fave songs: Listen (it’s the shortest), For You (finally the album ends)
Loved this! Love The Doors, but hadn’t listened to this album before Fav songs: Roadhouse Blues, Maggie M’Gill
This might be controversial, but I think 9 minutes is actually too long for even one song on an album let alone 2! Regardless, the music was great on this one and my fav song was one of these 9 minute songs Fav song: I’ve seen all Good People, Perpetual change
A great listen in the car on the way to my government job ready to stick it to the man. Super fun album, the kind 15 year old me would have LOVED to have found Fav songs: anti-pope, plan 9 Channel 7, smash it up pt1 & 2
Yeah nah, an album about the statutory rape of a child and then the death of said child in a plane crash, it’s not for me. I would have thought this album would have perhaps fallen out of favour due to its themes, but turns out every one from Pulp to Beck to the Arctic Monkeys have been inspired by this one, creepy
Good fun Jazz, I found this really enjoyable Fav songs: Palladium
I’m surprised to learn I don’t think I’ve actually heard Jethro Tull before. This album has big religious themes, which I don’t usually enjoy, but I really enjoyed this Fav songs: My God, Locomotive Breath, Wind-up
This album is 43 minutes of high energy from start to finish Fav songs: Into the Fire
This kinda seems like easy listening country, super cheesy . Dude fucking hates trump though so that’s an extra star in my book!!
5 stars for one of the most influential albums of all time! War Pigs and Iron Man are obviously epic, but my fav is Fairies wear Boots
Beth Orton has such a beautiful voice. I have never heard her before and I am so glad I have now! Fav songs: Stolen Car, Central Reservation
Sorry but Radiohead is so boring, I never believe it when people say Radiohead is their favourite band, have they heard any other music before? Fav song: Sot Down. Stand Up
Stupid girl is so so bad, it’s kinda embarrassing for the Rolling Stones to let their misogyny show that much Under my thumb is a scary listen too Rating this 2 stars solely because of Paint It, Black
A great album, though not one I would actively listen to again Fave songs: Sixteen, Moving away from the Pulsebeat
Funeral was the actual blue print for indie rock in the 2000s and into the 2010s, and it’s still amazing today! I forgot how much I loved this album, I’m putting it straight back into my usual rotation Fav songs: Une Anne Sans Lumiere (the build up to the end is so good!, Wake Up
The first song is still super relevant! Fun album, I enjoyed but I wouldn’t actively listen to this again Fav songs: (we don’t need this) fascist groove thang
I’m not sure this album belongs on this list. It’s hardly the first psychedelic rock album, and certainly not that influential. Still a good listen, I just question its place on this list. Top tier drummer though, give me a 12 minute ginger baker drum solo any day of the week Fav songs: Sunshine of your Love, Tales of Brave Ulysses Eric Clapton is the fucking worst
I have never listened to this album in full before, and I think it’s a little overrated. It started out so strong and then just lost me in the middle Still 4 stars because of some absolute iconic songs Fav Songs: with a little help from my friends, Lucy in the sky with diamonds, a day in the life
Not the biggest fan of folk but it was an enjoyable listen Fav songs: Needle of Death, Casbah
I cannot comprehend that this man is a member of the Beach Boys. Went down a Brian Wilson wiki rabbit hole, made me sad but was VERY interesting I only listened up to the song Mexico as this was where the original recording ended (and how the 1001 book was intended) Fav songs: Time, Pacific Ocean Blues, Rainbows
The queen of Grunge - Courtney Love! So good! I love her voice Fav songs: Miss World, Violet, Plump
I was not expecting this genre - I genuinely thought Tom Petty was a crooner - I have no idea why I thought this and I even know some of the songs on this album. Completely forgettable, I will probably forget once again that Tom Petty is not a crooner Fav songs: Breakdown
🗣️LET ME GO OOOO-ON This album is so good, you can tell they had a lot of fun making it. It’s so rhythmic and catchy Fav songs: Blister In the Sun, Gone Daddy Gone
Good album! Fav songs: Band on the Run, Jet
Country rock n roll is not really my thing, but I did think the vocals were very good, Emmylou Harris deserves some credit for the album, as the duets really do make it
Another great album! Fav songs: Carry on, our house
A decent album, and I enjoyed listening to it, but I wouldn’t reach for it again Fav songs: Son of Sam, Wouldn’t Mama Be Proud
