Unknown Pleasures
Joy Division
I want to love this. I absolutely enjoy it, but I just don't miss it when it's over. It's a weak 3 for me.

Not my genre, I guess. It's a weak 2 for me.

Definitely groovy music and good singing, but not interesting enough for me. Not really my genre, I suppose. It's a weak 2.

Banger album. Fun and memorable songs. Not really what I would listen to, but I get the hype. For me, it's a weak 3.

I get that these lyrics are good and all, but they just didn't give me anything.

Low
David Bowie
This album slithered into my brain, coiled around my spine and whispered: shhh, just feel it.
This isn't just music. It's a full-sensory takeover. Hypnotising, oddly arousing, and somehow both soothing and wild.
My ears are still tingling after that 11 track long eargasm.

I'll probably listen to this again when I'm in the right mood for it. I can totally see myself enjoying this, but for now it's a strong 3.

The Modern Lovers
Definitely an interesting album full of emotions. Feels almost like a teenager is speaking straight from their heart. Don't look for polish, or you'll be disappointed. I'd say it's a 3.5 for me.

Paranoid
Black Sabbath
I'd give it a solid 4.5, but I'm rounding it up out of respect for its historical impact on music as a whole.

This Is Fats Domino
Fats Domino
I loved his voice.
The genre isn't something I usually listen to. His singing makes me want to drink wine and get lost in the tunes (not sure if that's a good thing). I enjoyed it but I probably won't play it again unless something/someone reminds me of him.

Muse
I used to live and breathe this album.
Every Muse record up to this one reminds me of my ex, though - it's as if all the feelings have etched themselves into the very notes of the songs.
I donβt feel this music in my bones the way I did back then, but itβs still enjoyable, and definitely nostalgic.

3 + 3
The Isley Brothers
The first track (That Lady) actually put me off a bit tbh, both musically and lyrically. But a few tracks were genuinely lovely: Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight felt more balanced imo, with more space to breathe β even if it leans a bit too far into soul for my personal taste...
I totally get why it's considered a classic. It's such a rich production. The psychedelic guitarwork is beautiful. In fact, each instrument on its own sounds great - the vocals as well - but as a whole, it didn't quite land for me. It all felt a bit overwhelming, like too much going on at once and I kept losing track.
Probably not something I'll return to often (or ever), but still glad I gave it a proper listen.

Goodbye And Hello
Tim Buckley
I'm torn between a 3 and a 4. I've listened to this album before and still put it on now and then, but truth be told, it's really just Pleasant Street and Phantasmagoria in Two that stick with me. The rest works nicely as background vibes though, since I do enjoy it.
His vocal style is great, really distinctive, but if you're not in the right mood it can start to feel a bit samey.
Also, I've got to say, I love the cover, and let's not pretend Tim isn't ridiculously pretty with those curls. So I guess it's a 4 then!

Shleep
Robert Wyatt
I feel like I should like the album, but it just washes over me. I've heard Free Will and Testament before and really love that track, but the rest of the album doesn't seem to land. Maybe it would have resonated more in a different chapter of my life, but as things are now, I just can't seem to take it in.

Let It Bleed
The Rolling Stones
I haven't really listened to this album in depth yet, but I really like the sound of it and I'm looking forward to having it on in the background now and then. It doesn't feel particularly emotionally resonant for me, but it's definitely got a great vibe. I might change my rating later on.

Tragic Songs of Life
The Louvin Brothers
It might have been beautifully sung if there had been more variation, but listening to the full album just feels like hearing the exact same song on repeat. The only track I remotely enjoyed was 'In the Pines', and that's probably just because of Kurt Cobain.

Moby
I'd never really listened to Moby before and had no expectations. (Though of course I'd heard the name and knew he existed.)
Each song felt a bit like listening to a single sentence on repeat... Loved the sound, loved the sentence the first two, three - heck, maybe even the fifth time, but that's it. To me it would've been five stars if there'd been a hint of variation.
