MobyPlay by Moby is without a doubt a very unique and well-structured album. Each song is a sonic experience and very very catchy. The blues and gospel vibes are different yet a welcome and fitting piece to the puzzles of this album. Emotion is really felt throughout the music and lyrics. The album has tons of songs and sonically they’re all connected. Whether that is a good thing is up to the listener. I found it quite repetitive after 2.5 hours but there were a lot of songs that are different enough. The lyrics are short and sweet when Moby branches out to more lyrical songs like in South Side it actually falls short in my head. Songs like honey, porcelain, and natural blues are all really well done. I did get bored halfway through. Too many songs sound so similar it feels like they’ve been put on repeat. It seems like he also gave up as many of the songs at the end have no lyrics at all. The whole album plays like a main character’s B Roll footage soundtrack which is cool.
