Highway 61 Revisited
Bob DylanCatchy music, but the lyrics are a load of nonsense.
Catchy music, but the lyrics are a load of nonsense.
Very repetitive lyrics, not enough background music.
The music is good, the rappers are skilled, but the lyrics are very problematic which stops me from enjoying this.
Background music, didn't catch my attention at all. Had potential but all sounded very similar. I liked the last song "Faces" the most.
I enjoyed a good 2/3rds of this album, the quality of the singer stood out above the others this week. Will listen to regularly.
Couldn't listen to, it was so whiney. I've never liked grunge.
The definition of easy listening. Beautiful voice, most songs sound the same.
"You know more Crowded House songs that you think," I thought I would really like this but the lyrics are a bit nonsensical. It improves on a second listen while reading the lyrics.
Awful first song. Singer has a voice like a funeral dirge. Enjoyed Little Sister. Actually the songs aren't bad when he uses his full range instead of whining.
I had this when it came out. Now I remember that I didn't listen to much of it at all. It's inoffensive but not my thing then and still not my thing then.
Unique genre for me! Some were very catchy but I won't listen again.
Did not like the sound when they all sang together, preferred to hear their individual voices. Played in the background until it ended.
Finally something from my genre! I had the album after this, By The Way, but this is also excellent. This has all of what I want: A melodic male voice, guitar solos and hard drums. Full marks, will go into regular rotation!
Catchy music, but the lyrics are a load of nonsense.
Sounded like a female Bob Dylan, but without the good backing music.
Better than the last new wave album I was allocated as this one actually has backing music. It was still not my thing though.
As if a Muppet wanted to be a human. I rather love him.
If the tracks were shorter I would give it a mark more, it's a bit too long winded. This might be the style of the genre though.
What. The. Hell?
Rough and ready sound, but the genius is in there.
The covers were better than their own songs, but they are babies here.
Makes nice background music. The voices are an instrument when you don't know the language used.
The slower songs are pleasant, but I can't support the problematic singer.
Music is great, voices are ok, lyrics are meh.
Only 20 albums in and this is my second Bob Dylan. I enjoyed the electric side of the record, the acoustic didn't work as well to me. And The Byrds did a better Mr Tambourine Man.
Marginally better than Tom Waits.
The lyrics that aren't gibberish are fantastic. The songs need stronger voices and music, they sound a bit weak. I hope the later albums improve because I enjoy this.
Great music, there is a little too much falsetto for my liking but it's ok if I pretend the voice is another instrument.
Owned it on release, loved it and still listen to it in 2025. An easy 5 stars.
I hated "Manchester" while growing up, but I seem to like it much more as an adult!
For the first 3 minutes I thought "this is cool" and then it continued without changing much. I got bored. Perhaps jazz is not for ADHD listeners!
I, like most people, do not like Morrissey, so I didn't think I would like it. I am surprised that I do. The lyrics are meh, and I skipped through a too-long track, but enjoyed it as background music. I almost hummed along.
I.would probably upgrade this to a 5 if I could understand what he's saying without reading along to the lyrics.
I tried, but it's just... Nothing.
Beginning of album and end are excellent, the middle lost me a bit. Four Women was my favourite.
Inoffensive background music. Forgot it was playing.
You could recreate this album if you pressed play on a Casio keyboard demo button and sang in your most whining voice. Didn't like it.
It doesn't matter how good the music and lyrics are, she just can't sing - and I love women who scream-sing.
Erm. What a bizarre concept. I weirdly love it, he has a beautiful voice and the music is cheery. I must pay attention to the lyrics and learn some Illinois history!
