Very mixed. Proud Mary and the title track are both great but a couple of others are too long and very simple repetitive blues
For me very standard soul which is not my thing. Couple of great tracks. My wife loved it. Very much her thing
Never listened to this before. Never will again
Why have I never listened to this before. Not perfect but really good. Knew some of the tracks already but never knew it was them. Will listen again
2 steely dan albums in 3 days. This is a lot better than Aja. Got songs rather than noodly jazz. But won’t be listening again
This album is 3 years younger than me. In my teens some friends liked stuff like this - maybe this. Hated it then. Hate it now. Would give it no stars if I could
A few great songs. Protection and better things. Not consistent
I’m sure it’s very well done. But not for me
Couldn’t get beyond the first 15 minutes
Wow. That was good. Tuneful, political. Great.
First album I’ve really known. I love some George. But this is such a mixed bag. 2 or 3 great songs but the ballads are pretty dirge like. A man flexing his voice and his song writing. He’d done better with wham and there was better to follow
Sounds like a band in transition. Lacks the anger and drive of going underground eton rifles and it’s not the beauty of town called malice or some style council yet. So for me it doesn’t add up to much.
Love talking heads. Got this on vinyl but not listened to it for years. Like all their albums it’s a mixed bag but it’s fun and full of energy. Cities, life during wartime , I Zumba - all great.
I’m sort of a fan of a Bob Dylan in a casual, on the sidelines, greatest hits sort of a way.
This was pretty terrible. He really can’t sing.
Desolation Row was good. That’s the only reason it’s not 1 star
Really interesting. Not good but glad I’ve listened to it. Europe endless and showroom dummies were my favourites
Was pleased to get this as liked the single juxtaposed. Not pleased to listen to rest of it. 2001??? You’d never have guessed- tired, old British rock
The smiths first single came out when I was in first year university. Many of my friends loved them.
Hearing this today I feel the same as I did then. It’s all too samey and very few stand out tracks. A few of the singles were great but they didn’t put many of them on the albums.
At last. A five star album. Remember it coming out. Bought it on vinyl recently. It almost lost a star for the poor ending to each side. But everything else is perfect. Packed with hits plus 11:59 - probably my favourite song on the album
Really tried but only listened to first 2 songs. Sounds like all other thrash metal to me
Oh dear. It’s kind of dull and miserable
Don’t know what to think of this. Instruction manual rather than album
Like Neil young but this was new to me. Bit mixed but some good songs and the rest was inoffensive
A few great tracks. A few others that were just too too gentle to be interesting
Slightly ashamed of my teen self. 40+ years ago I loved this. Still got it on vinyl. Listening to it now it brought back a lot of memories- but it’s not very good.
Oh dear. This is American punk ? Sounds like rich boys doing a beach boys rip off. Unlikely to change the world.
I get that it’s important and that it was ground breaking. But 70 years on it’s a bit nothing
Couple of great songs. Never my favourite beatle
Welcome back old friend. Years since I’ve listened to this. Still brilliant. Pop Song 89, world Leader pretend and orange crush all excellent.
It’s ok. Nothing memorable, nothing offensive
Apparently this is an important album but for me it was a bit dull, a bit uninspiring. Nothing horrible but nothing to match some of Lou Reeds solo stuff
Not good. One or two songs reminiscent of the pistols. Rest the ranting of a teenager who isn’t as clever as he thinks he is
Maybe groundbreaking in 1996. Boring today. None of the joy of some of his better stuff
Never heard this before. Glad I have. Won’t do so again.
I like Elvis Costello but this isn’t great. Tokyo storm warning and hope you’re happy now probably best track
Pleasant but un memorable
Standard 60s blues / rock. Only listened to half of it.
My heart sank when this came up. Imagined an album of 20 minute guitar solos. But actually much lighter and more fun than I expected
Mmmm….. can’t see why it’s in the list. Melodic 90s rap. Pleasant but wall paper
Knew the singles from when they were released. Not bad. Nor amazing
I like Bruce. Good album. Not great.
Don’t know Hüsker du but know and like Sugar - Bob mound next band.
Strong similarities so I liked this. But all the tracks sound the same.
Don’t know enough to know why this is on list. Sounds like hundreds of other things from this era to me.
It was fine
It’s been years since I listened to this. Lovely memories. It’s a bit hit and miss with no real stand out tracks. But good overall
Bit of a mixed bag. But the good is very good
I was born and grew up in Glasgow. So liking this album is meant to be in my DNA. I was also really like Paul Buchanan’s voice. But this just doesn’t do it for me. Very 80’s but not very interesting
Love REM and great to be listening to this again. Some of their best songs on here - Drive, Ignoreland and Find The River (which will be played at my funeral) but too many weak songs to get 5 stars.
Interesting, not exactly upbeat
Never listened to Eric Clapton before (know the famous ones). All a bit meh
Well it ain’t Screamadelica- no matter how much it’s trying
Title tracks good. Otherwise very much of its time
50 + albums in and this is what I was hoping for. An album by someone I’d never heard of that’s really good. Will listen again
Didn’t like this when it came out. 40 years on it’s even worse than I remember. Some points but it’s the production that really lets it down. Even a great song like church of the poisoned mind has really weak production - it’s needs to punch and it doesn’t.
It’s James brown. Exactly what I expected. Don’t like it.
Thought it would be dull and insippid and much if it was. But a few really good Songs.
I’ve always liked this Album. Very patchy butvthe good Tracks are really good. It gets a bit samey
Standard colour by Numbers hard rock. Always Imagined the CULT would be more interesting
Can’t have listened to this for 40 years. Nice to Go back. Biko is brilliant. Rest pretty good
